So I just watched a few videos comparing Siri and Google Now. The only thing I could say Google now was better at was that it comes back slightly faster with it's responses. (Much faster in some cases)

The thing I didn't like most about google now is that it mostly just gives you a google search result for it's answers.

Can google now recognize if i say "take me home" or "call my sister" instead of saying take me to "physical address" or "call jane doe"?

In no way did I see anything Google now did that would even come close to putting siri to shame...

Siri especially seems to be better in ways you would normally use voice control: Sports scores, dining, navigation, opening apps, movie times/buying tickets, updating facebook/twitter status

Google now can set alarms, make calls, navigate and send sms.

Heres a couple of videos

Dont forget about Google Now cards. Google Now knows when im at work and gives me a card telling me how long it will take to get home and any delays on route.

----------

How have you got that please Dave, I would look at doing the same.

Just a standard UK insurance policy on my phone covering breakdown, theft, accidental damage etc

Does Google music upgrade your low quality music to a higher quality?

I would have to download that app for all my devices

I was not impressed with google now, although slower in some cases, siri seems to give a more detailed answer and seems to be more tightly integrated with the phone ex: buying movie tickets, opening apps, reserving tables at restaurants. Not a majority of google search results....

Yup, upgrades quality of low quality files. All files are stored in the cloud, so can log into Google Music from any device to access them.

It looked as though Google now only opened a map you would then have to click on, whereas siri actually gets navigation up and running. Siri also does everything else you mentioned.

Siri also knows when i'm at work, home, etc.

Questions regarding Google music:
Is this true:
You can't download songs to another computer unless you bought them on Google Music. iTunes Match and Amazon Cloud Player let you download stored music to any computer or compatible mobile device.

Some Android devices fully support it, some don't?

There's no official iPhone app, but music.google.com works on iOS devices. The Google Music site is even formatted well for iPhone screens. You can listen to any music in your Google Music cloud locker and even buy music from the separate Android Store

I do like that files are at 320Kbps, and if rumors are true apparently apple has been working on high def audio solutions. So here i'd give the upper hand to google music, and hoping for an apple solution.

It also looks like iTunes has almost double the amount of music than google music 15 millions (Google) vs almost 30 million (Apple)

as of November 2012...

You are just nitpicking now mate, your original post was decent and fun to reply to. Your bias is now tiring. Heres the rub with Google music, it's free, it has better quality and it matches your tunes, if it doesn't have an album, go to Amazon and download.

I'm finished answering you, enjoy your wonderful iPhone and be blinkered, you are now on my ignore list.

I would think that a 15 MILLION song difference isn't nitpicking. And I was told ios users don't like choices?

lol, i'm on your "ignore list" now that is funny for a couple reasons....

The fact you had to state that in your post

and

How childish that is that you got so upset that I haven't found any reason to switch to android that you put me on an ignore list

seriously....i laughed out loud :)

You upload upto 20000 music tracks to Google Music and access them anywhere you have an internet connection for free.

You can log into Google Music from any device to access the music and you can download it, regardless of where you have purchased it.

Now your saying Google Music has 15million less tracks then itunes, but look at how much longer itunes has been around. Anyway, im pretty sure all the music you want is available on Google Music - As daveathall said, your just nit picking now.

Its quite clear your biased towards ios.

I just thought of a few more things you can do with a gs3.I totally forgot about the instant video share the gs3 has, lets say you are at work or a house gathering and you found a funny video online browsing on your cell.

now you could get a bunch of people to stand real close to you or just tap the galaxy phones to others with the same cell and they instantly can watch exactly what you are watching on your phone. Its not a omg feature but I have used it before and love it.

its great showing a few co workers some not so pg rated material

againg this is a death match thread about the gs3 vs the iphone not google/android as the gs3 can do a crap load of things even a nexus device cant do.

Samsung has taken android to the next level and I cant wait to see what is in store for the gs4.

go into a post your gs3 homescreen thread over at xda and see how different each phone can be tweaked and tuned to.

I hated the stock gs3 sms app and I used a custom ported version from the older galaxy nexus and I hated the stock keyboard and now use the asop 4.2 pure android keyboard, there is no perfect android phone but you can mix and match things to make one hell of a nice experience.

the best thing I had a few weeks ago was the note 2 media gallery,it just looks so cool and is way better then the stock gs3 one, again if you don't like some things anyone is welcomed to change them.

I have 2 email apps that I use because the stock one has issues with saving a few files that I send but it was a 5 second fix with another email app.

The stock gs3 icon look horrible so I used a different launcher and now my touchwise gs3 looks like pure android and I changed the icons to look to what my taste is and I could care less what others think.

there is no way you can compare a locked down iphone to an open source gs3.the op of this thread made this thread and was already 100% fixed on staying with ios and would not change even with the huge amount of info we gave him.

Like I said,I love the apple hardware and I would but the next iphone(even stand in line)if it came with the next android os instead of ios.

heck don't even give me iTunes, just let me run pure android on it and deal with google and there app store.

the apple hardware is not what is holding them back its the os

- A File Explorer that combines phone and cloud storages (box, gdrive, db etc) using side-by-side views allowing easy movement of files betw. storages. Ability to use the "Open With..." to open any file using any registered & installed apps.

There are file manager apps for iOS that support everything you've said above other than 'easy movement of files betw. storages.'

- Direct dial/sms with picture icon on desktop or in folder for quick one touch operation.

Can do this using web clips. Admittedly this is not an ideal method.

- Turn the phone over to switch to vibrate mode (or have ring silenced during incoming call). Tilt phone to zoom when in gallery/browser. Plus shake to unlock phone and many others.

Hell of a lot easier to flick the little mute switch on the iPhone.

- Able to use voice commands to change phone settings + do navigation + etc (which are not available in iPhone)

You can navigate using your voice on the iPhone.

- Listen to (airwaves) FM Radio.

The vast majority of radio stations have internet versions available these days, at least in my area. Good for those with severely limited data plans though.

- Able to play video in popup window (i.e Popup Play). You can continue to watch video while doing other tasks simultaneously.

Seems a bit gimmicky to me. I only ever used it to try it out on my phone. I have no desire to try watching a video whilst sending a text at the same time. If I want to send a text I'll quickly open the messages app, give it my full attention and then switch back to the video.

- Better productivity with much faster scrolling capability than iphone. see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH1GDLunomY

Probably negated by the fact that the iPhone has a tap to scroll to top feature that works in every app.

- Much larger physical screen.

Highly subjective as to whether that's an advantage or not.

Just wanted to respond to some of your points. A lot of them are sound and clearly if those features are important to people, they would do well to buy the S3 over the iPhone.

Of course, the iPhone has its' own advantages...

What I think is clear is that because I pointed out flaws or alternatives to your points you don't want to accept my points so instead you say I am biased.

You were the ones that brought up google music, so when I did a little further research and posted some points you are saying i'm nitpicking?

Like I said I don't believe a 15 MILLION song difference is nitpicking. I have conceded on some or your points, but you have yet to concede on any of my points? And I am the one who is biased?

A 15 million song difference is huge and the answer you give me is "you're pretty sure google will have all the music I want"

Seriously?

The whole point of my post was to see if android had anything to offer ME, that would cause me to switch and from everything that has been posted, there simply isn't.

Find me some music that Google Music dosent have that you want. I dont even know 50000 songs, let alone 15 million!

And apparently you never will....because Google music doesn't have them....

yu do know you can import all your songs from iTunes to google music right there is an app that you download on your computer and will take everysong you have and put it on the google servers

Feel free to reply to my last question. Find me some music that you want that isn't in Google Music.

- Balancing Act
- Hardcore underground
- Hardcore underground 3
- Hardcore underground 4
- Hardcore underground 2010
- Hardcore underground 5

I have all of these and none are available in Google Play :p

The majority of my UK Hardcore is not in Google Play, in fact.

Is it that hard to concede iTunes has a larger library then google music? And not everyone wants the latest Britnney Spears & Lady Gaga songs?

I went to the google music site and it required registration (sorry not gonna do it)

What does that have to do with me finding NEW music? I, like the above poster, listen to a lot of edm music, and it sounds like a lot isn't on google music just by the examples he has already provided....

if you really want to get into a music battle I can dl any song I want for free on android.the point is you are not limited and wont lose your iTunes library going to android, you can simply get all those hard to get songs from your iTunes on google.Noone is saying you cant get more music on iTunes but you are missing the fact that you can upload your legally paid music to google.

I love my ipod
