Mine is not as smooth as my iPad Air 2 on 9.1 or girlfriends 6 with 8.4.1. But still very low lag.

If you look through this subforum you'll find people taking about lag on just about every available device, there is a thread on the first page talking about also seeing lag on the control panel on the 5S and 6.

iOS 9 betas, iOS 9 GM and iOS 9.1 beta 1 all have lag on my 6 Plus. The most common lag is opening control centre, closing safari and retuning home lags like crazy and multitasking is a lag fest!
So here is what I do about control center...when I get ready to flick up, I look away for a second. When I come back to the screen its open. Otherwise, yea, it lags. I'm joking a little but if you have OCD for the lag looking away helps a little I think.

iOS 9.1 stutters more than 8.4.1 on my 6 plus. Opening CC, apps, going home, etc. Not to mention there's a 1 second delay when opening apps that aren't running in the background.

Or instead of "flicking" it up at lightning speeds, just swipe up and it's way smoother. The animation tries to move as fast as you move your flick. That's what's chocking it and making seem like it's lagging.

You're so funny.

Thanks. But the only thing funny is people focusing on such a trivial thing as a few less fps on a control panel. It's all the OCD's moaning again like they did for a year about the weather app. Since that was mostly fixed, now you're all just moving on to something else to complain about. I doubt any of you will be happy with anything released.

Go switch to an android. Even those phones with their quad core/octo core and 3-4gb of ram won't be 100% smooth all the damn time.

You have to use a 6 Plus to know what we mean. Whether you flick it up or do it slowly, it's laggy. In fact doing it slowly only exacerbates the issue.

A majority of people seem to say that beta 5 and GM on the iPhone 6 runs well! My friend was on iOS 9.1 beta 1 on a 6 and I was like "whoah that's so smooth" and when I did the same actions on my 6+ it kept lagging and being slow and tapping an app didn't immediately zoom into it etc

I was happy with my 5. The Plus is a regression of my 5 performance-wise.

The problem is the hardware moreso than the OS. It's the same guts as the 6 with many more pixels to push. I've no doubt that 6S Plus performance will be buttery smooth. :/

You're a bright person with a lot of good info, there is no need to be rude.

And you'll also see people also saying the same about the Plus being smooth, in the thread I linked someone says they had this CC lag on their Plus using 8 but was smooth with 9. The app opening delay has been a reported problem across numerous devices after just installing the update, most people I've seen report have said it goes away after a hour or so and is possibly caused by the CPU being hogged as it indexes a bunch of information for Spotlight's new search features.

If your "funny" comment wasn't a sarcastic jab then I apologize. But the point remains though. No smartphone on the market is buttery smooth 100% of the time. Even top spec computers aren't either unless you're running a 5+ year old OS. It's just how it is really.

I can already see it now for the month of November when the public can get their hands on the iPad Pro. Apple even claimed "buttery smooth" in the keynote, but I'm sure people will find small instances where it won't be at all times, and then deem it to be a flop.

I think the issue here is that 8.4.1 is buttery smooth, but there are micro stutters everywhere in iOS 9. On top of that, people were expecting an optimized OS this time around because Apple advertised Metal system-wide in iOS 9 which was meant to bring smoother animations and better performance to all built in apps.

Why does 8.4.1 run so well and 9.0 feels like we've gone backwards?

Inflexible ship date. Had to be ready by mid-August for the new phones, no matter what.

Apple should consider decoupling iPhone releases from iOS, like the Mac and OS X.

I said you were funny because you made me laugh. That's all. I know I can move sloooow to avoid stutter from moving faster but nah. I know it will not be 100% and I am satisfied with my phone but the topic was about seeing lag. I do, so I brought it up. We have chatted back and forth in threads so I assumed you knew I was laid back. I'm sarcastic at times too but its to be funny and not mean, its not my style.

Better permanence and battery life are headlining features in Apple's marketing materiel for iOS 9. It will be interesting to see what happens if major tech sites find this to be false after testing.

The 6 Plus lags on 9.0 GM but it definitely doesn't on 9.1 beta. It feels like a proper solid release. It almost feels like they upped the refresh rate (not possible) it's so fast. I'm seriously happy with it now.

They only place it lags is when you're in Search (pull down on homescreen) and you rotate to landscape. It hiccups pretty badly.

They even fixed the video rotation lag where it would put the video in the bottom left corner and rotate then fill the screen. That's completely gone. It now rotates as it turns like on previous iPhones.

I can tell you it still lags on 9.1 even after a fresh install.
