if only the nexus offered iphone quality hardware

the 6p may be arguably on par with 6s+ hardware, but I would still give the nod to the iphone

the 5x is way under the 6S wrt hardware

if there was a nexus 5P I probably would have bought that over my 6S, but the hardware on the 6S would still probably be better than a hypothetical nexus 5P

Here's the thing though while the 6P isn't an attractive phone the iPhone 6/6s aren't either so it's more which ugly duck do you choose.

For me they both open apps and take whats app pictures of prices and the like so pretty and flexibility is more important *shrug*

I hear you man :p I like the flexibility of nexus too but I dont want a phablet. I just couldnt go for the 5x over the 6S. Maybe if the device launched with the performance it shows post march update (along with the price cuts), but I just couldnt do it at release. jailbroken 6s is just to sweet to go back now, maybe next year

A future Nexus "5P" would go a long way in helping the Nexus brand.

Mid-size phones should not be getting the short end of any stick.

Yeah, but what other brands are actually making premium smaller phones? The market all the coporations are testing is showing the smaller phones sell better as budget devices. I wouldn't expect that a premium smaller nexus would sell any better than the 5X honestly.

The 5x has a camera that looks like a castrated cat weiner surely they can do better and by extension sell better.

Anyone who really favors aesthetics over internals shunned the Nexus devices for Apple or Sammy long ago. I'd say keep making them as unique as possible.

Google could make the sexiest phone ever made and it wouldn't sell since they don't include the carriers. Until people are willing to buy outside of carriers, kick the bloatware late updates to the curb, no amount of design appeal will really change sales.

So you don't think the Nexus is ugly? Or you just live with a castrated cat penis phone because why? Price, OS? If so, I would have to say you favor one of those things over aesthetics when you made your purchase.

Yeah I think customer support is big. It's all in what people value. I know there's plenty of good options with new tech out there. But there's a wide gap overall imo between Apple and the rest in terms of after sales service and support. It drives not only sales but maintains retention.

For all the talk of Apple supposedly needing to step up its products the competition has a long way to go to compete with Apple on support.
Yeah absolutely. Whenever I've had issues it has been solved in store and often with a straight up replacement.

With previous OEM's it been 'let us send it off for 3 weeks and find a mobile to use in the meantime'. I think others are starting to improve on this though and with more premium hardware coming through from the likes of Samsung, a premium service is expected with it.

The galaxy s6/7 is probably the best example. The regular one still sells well right?

If it was a nexus, nexus fans (all six of us) would be Jumping for joy, me included

Yeah physical stores are important imo. The interaction is what people remember. But Apple still does service over the phone and through their express replacement service. Overnight replacements.

Because sales don't say much about a device.
It doesn't say much about the Display, Camera, UI, SoC, Memory, Design etc...

Quite the opposite.
If a product doesn't sell, its a failure.
Which says a lot about its display, camera, ui, soc, memory, design, etc.

Sales is a business discussion which is rarely relevant in a Technical discussion.

An example being resource needs between iOS and Android. Where would sales data fit into that discussion?

Answer: it doesn't.

It does. This thread asserts that the iPhone 6s and the a9 destroys the Galaxy s7 in performance/speed tests.
Sales backs up that assertion.
Pity your unable to see the correlation.

Because it's about speed not the quarterly Samsung sales are great/bad thread. We can talk sales there and all the fans can come out an give the other side the what for. Here we're talking about Samsung's performance or lack of it.

Yes and sales backs that up.
