First one I ordered, Order starts with W48: Processing Order

Second one I ordered (5 minutes later), Order starts with W42: Preparing for Shipment

So in my case, they are changing status in the order of/sort by the Order Number, not the chronological order in which i placed the orders.

Interesting. Both of my orders start with W48 placed about 4 minutes apart.

Interesting. Both of my orders start with W48 placed about 4 minutes apart.

So if you take into consideration the entire number of each, I wonder if they flip in that order.

Maybe we can pin it down to when a start range begins and ends flipping, and track the order status change progression.

Well I was on hold for 2 ½ hours with Apple but got expedited shipping so my ATT iPhone 7+ 256G will now deliver between Sep 23-27. I can handle that.

That's what they did for me!! It was painful. I was told no at first and had to reference that it has been done for other people.

Technically, I can understand why its sorted by number rather than date, and I bet they used to flip in chronological order way back in the day, but once they had to load balance they probably hand Order Number ranges to each server group and now the sort by order number is out of chronological order when crunching through to update and process.

They should stop being lazy and optimize their database/sort logic so they can process in chronological order :D

Has anyone else received a call from Apple confirming your order? I just received one confirming my pre-order and making sure I used the credit card that I used. No other info was really discussed other than that. I got mine at 3:07am EST and it still shows processing.

Just went to "prepared for shipment"!

Was charged earlier this morning and was in processing until just a few minutes ago. Can't wait for next Friday!

My order begins with W53, and I ordered at 2:03 am central time.

Mine starts with 48 and it still says processing. Do they send an email when the status changes or do you check manually?

My order number starts with W50, T-Mobile Jet Black 128GB ordered at 12:03AM PST, Delivery date Oct 4-10.
Order is still shown as "Processing." No credit card charge as of yet, probably won't see one for a while.

Mine starts with W57. Ordered a few minutes after 3am EST. Changed to preparing for shipment this morning.
