It's also become painfully obvious why apple decided to not post sales numbers this go around. With the backlog of black models that number would of been painfully low which in turn would of lowered stock a bit. I'm just hoping that at 600k-1mil phones a day they are able to catch up to the backlog sooner than later.

Hello,

I thought I would drop in and share my experience with pre-order this year.

My last pre-order experience was for the 6 launch. I apparently ordered a unicorn that year, Space grey regular and plus in 64gb, plus being what was short that year. I got mine in Oct my wife got hers the week after launch. That year riddled with jump issues and pre-order was down. I skipped updating to the 6s partly because that experience.

This year, I paid both phones' EIP early. For my wife it was so she could do the trade in. For me it was because my 6 plus essentially died, lightning port barely working, cell network can't be found and a cracked display to boot. Cheaper to make my last payment then replace with insurance.

So Sept 12th I setup the trade in. Have to call in because the site wants to do a jump which will make her return her phone. I saw the timeframe estimate list online and I ordered a silver 32gb non-plus which had a 9/26 - 10/10 timeframe. For me, because the headphone jack missing and my previous lightning port failure, I thought about getting a 6s Plus in 128gb when the price dropped but T-Mobile didn't drop the price when Apple did. I spoke to a rep and the T-Mobile Twitter account the said I would have to wait and watch. The rep actually told me Xmas was when the price drop happened. At this point, my phone has been dying for months and the cell network gave out 3 weeks ago. My work is giving me a stipend for my phone so I have to get a replacement. Needles to say I waited to the last minute but finally ordered a 7 MB 128GB which would ship 9/19 -9/26. This was on 9/15 and done by phone for the same reason of system wanted to do a jump.

So these were new EIPs, oddly the phone number reference tracking didn't work on them. But I didn't have to wait. Bank listed both charges the night of the 15th. My wife had a tracking number by 9/16 when I woke up and I had a tracking number that evening. Both are sitting at my hub for a Monday delivery.

With that being said, I think there maybe some truth to the new EIPs/customers over Jump customers theory. Also, I think that they exaggerated a bit more to the worst case on the shipping estimates. Granted I specifically picked devices that low estimates but I was expecting them to take longer. With the either black plus model, I think Apple once again did not realize the popularity of these models and they are just not being produced quick enough.

Congrats on the the Monday delivery :)

There is no preference between EIP and Jump/JOD, in the eyes of Tmo. There were many JOD peeps who got their phones yesterday :)

Question. I need a new phone. With JOD since I can upgrade 3 times a year is it possible for me to go upgrade to a 6S plus while my 7 Plus is still in process. I'm losing hope my phone will even come this week. I ordered 7+ J 128gb. Ordered at 2:58 EST. My original ship date is 9/19 to 9/26

If the pluses are as good as the regular 7 it will be more than worth the wait. My family is loving their 7s. They're gorgeous, fast and REALLY NEED A GOOD CASE lol They're scaring the crap out of me because the new iphones look so delicate compared to the 6s'

They are quite a bit stronger actually. Well, the front panel is at least. Check out the few drop tests out there. The camera lens covers are the weak point on this year's iPhone....while the display is seemingly quite a bit tougher than the 6s series.

Yeah i still don't know what case to get. I ordered glass screen protectors. Idk how I will like them but I really don't want to screw this phone up

Oh hang in there Raf... 99% chance you'll get it next week. Save an upgrade, save the hassle, avoid a potential nightmare. You'll have your 7 in your hands very soon with that shipping estimate.

Clearly you don't know my children lol. But seriously, I'm sure the phones are stronger than ever but they look so slippery. I've got a stack of five 6s' sitting in front of me ready to go back and for whatever reason they don't look nearly as delicate. I'm not freaking out about having them stacked up and sitting next to a drink... hmm, maybe I should.

No need for a screen protector. The front panel is incredibly tough this year.
