If this is the case wouldn't we start seeing charges pretty soon.So for those of us with Plus models ordered and dates of 9/23, maybe we can assume that this is the earliest date they have given. And hopefully that 9/23 will be 9/16

I have an order for a 7 Plus 128 Rose Gold with a deliver by 9/16 via email confirmation and the status in my Verizon. I ordered at 3:02 am. It is still processing.
My friend ordered the exact same phone at 3:30 am and she has a delivery by 9/16 as well.

Rose gold would make sense to be one of the few to have a 9/16 date, it's arguably the least popular color, especially with the 2 new ones this year.
Regardless, how did you get in at 3:02?! Verizon wouldn't even let me in until :15 after.

Got a ship/delivery estimate of 11/16....
I'm currently holding out until Wed at the latest to see if any changes take place on my order. If not, I will be cancel the order and be going to a VZW store on opening Friday morning to see if any come in. If I have to resort to that, I may even go for the 256 instead.
I don't understand how my ship time slipped so far out when later in the day 128s were still showing 10/5-10/20 iirc...

If I hadn't taken into account that next years model might be so good that I couldn't resist upgrading, I might have purchased the 256GB model. But I hand down my phones to others in the family, and they should be happy enough to get a "free" phone And 32 GB has been enough for them so far. Handing down a 64GB model this year.

Ordered on Verizon since Apple said 2-3 weeks. Which might have been as late as the 30th.
Didn't even think about using the Verizon app, it makes sense that it would go smoother there.
Either way, sounds like you were due for a painless preorder! Mine have had no issues for the last couple of years, so I'm not too worried. Worst case scenario, one week later.
Does your confirmation email show the two separate delivery dates? I also ordered two phones on one order which during the order process one showed 9/16 and the other showed 9/23, but both my confirmation email and checking the order status online (still processing) only show a single date of 9/23.

I chose the installment plan, so I won't have a CC charge to go on. Looks like my first payment is due 11/1. All I've had is the $1 pending charge (for my $101.80 taxes/upgrade fee) show up.
well i cancel my per order and am going too re order the iphone 7 pluse this coming friday on apple.com has i have saved $966 saved up am this going too get the $128 iphone 7 pluse out right so that way when my upgraded is free up i can get the iphone 7S or 8
Just had a brief online chat with a Verizon rep, take this with a grain of salt because he didn't seem very confident.
I asked when cards would be charged and shipping would start for the 7 Pluses. He says cards should be charged anywhere from 9/16-9/23 and shipping will depend on when they get the phone.
That makes it sound like they don't even have the phones yet.

So rose gold is likely the only Plus model to give a date of 9/16. Yet it is still processing unlike the 7 models which have begun to ship for many. Interesting.
I think that's only when ordering from Apple. Every time I've pre-ordered with Verizon, the phones are already at a FedEx hub. At least that has been my experience
Do you know if the trade-in program is also valid for non-base models of the iPhone 7? Like if I got the 128Gb iPhone 7 model, do they offer $400 for a 5s?
