I put x2 and the camera not activate it???

When I shooting this picture in my office I put x2 .. I don't understand why is digital?

If the light is not bright enough the iPhone will use the 1x wider lens as it lets much more light. As long the the light is bright enough, such as indoors with bright lights or outdoors in the daytime then the 2nd 2x camera will work fine.

If you were to take the same photo with the 2x camera in that lighting that photo would have been almost pitch black.

Apple really needs to put a warning on screen in dim lighting when the 2x option is selected saying something like this is 2x digital due to low light.

Download Metapho. It will show you which lens was used. If the aperture is 1.8 mm then you've used digital zoom and if it's 2.8 mm then the telephoto lens was used and it's optical zoom. Unfortunately there is no way to tell which lens is being used until after you take the photo using the stock app. I bought ProCamera and it allows you to manually switch between the lenses so you can choose to use the telephoto lens, the wide angle lens or both.

Had to resize, but here it is with the 7 plus telephoto camera.

Went to the park today, the iPhone 7 Plus camera performs absolutely amazing in Sun light, low light not so much.

This is a none portrait picture btw.

Low light, not so much??? I think it does well in low light. You just have to know what you are doing as a photographer I think. Of course it depends on how dark of an environment your shooting in. Here is a low light restaurant shot, properly exposed. Looks good to me.

I have Pro Cam and ProCamera and yesterday I got the image investigator after all of this .. I wanted to see Photo info and who lens shooting.
I know the camera specification when is 1.8 is digital and 2.8 is tele. I saw yesterday what happen with tele in a few photos on app info.

From now I'm starting using only this apps.. until now tested the Apple app..

Thank you my friend ! :)
