It's true. The 7 plus is dimmer than my 6s plus. My wife Rose Gold came in today. I have noticed that the 7plus has a little bit more color but it is way more dimmer.

Picked up a rose gold 7 for my wife tonight. I have a 6s. Her screen IS brighter than mine without a doubt. Don't put stock in every rumor you hear.
Totally the opposite of what I'm seeing with my wife and I phones. The 7 plus is dimmer. I hope this is a software issue. My Jet Black has not shipped yet. I hope this can be fixed.

Maybe a different phone is the best route for you. If Apple isn't up to your standards maybe time for something new.
We will all pray for you.

Standards? Dude when a company says that a certain feature or upgrade is going to be in their phones they have a responsibility to deliver. Anything else is deceptive marketing. It's kind of tiring seeing people blindly defending Apple.

Dude don't tell me to relax. I paid a lot of money for a phone that seems to be made with little care (first the cheap lens cover, -and now dimmer displays?). Apple made it a point to consistently tell the world that it's 25% brighter. It was basically touted as being a major new update to the screen. I have yet to literally see that in any comparison picture. In fact all I'm reading on forums is about the dimness on the 7.

I'd love to see a picture because all I've heard about is dimmer and yellow screens.
Just return it, and buy a different phone. Breathe and live your life.

yeah, just (!) relax....in some cases it's just (!) a €/$ 800/900 smartphone.

Relax? Because my hard earned money is supposed to be thrown away?

Lol. It's not about getting a different phone. It's simply about Apple not being honest and truthful and having bad QC

Please take your meds. This is the second thread you made about unsubstantiated rumours.

You seem really mad with Apple for some reason...

Not rumors. All facts. Extremely dim screens, nasty yellow screens, and low quality lens protectors?

I have the same issue here. The new iPhone 7 black has a much dimmer / softer screen than my old iPhone 6. I tried a hard reset which fixes the issue temporarily but then the screen returns to its dimmed state.
This is very frustrating! So much for this rumored 25% additional brightness. Very pissed!

Okay I just read this and calibrated my wife iPhone 7Plus.
Looks great now.

[doublepost=1474081948][/doublepost]The iPhone 7 plus was dem and yellow looking. Now it's brighter.
Thank God. No Thank OSXDaily. Lol

I used that feature on my 6s and although it made the screen less yellow it dimmed it. You lose brightness when using the tint feature.

Mind posting a comparison pic with a 6s next to it? Have yet to see a 7 with a brighter screen than the 6s as Apple promised.

I've compared my 6 Plus to over 15 new 7s at the store and friends. Not one of them was brighter. Friends were pretty upset about it cause it doesn't pop nearly as much as the 6 Plus. Also yellow...

On the 7s plus I also adjusted the intensity with the color tint. The screen got brighter. It's also so the first day or hours of use. So let's wait a week or so before put a - gate name on this. Lol
[doublepost=1474082820][/doublepost]Also OP. We don't have a intensity setting on our 6s or 6s plus. I just noticed. It's a setting under the color filters only on the 7S plus.

Stop repeating this nonsense everywhere. It's not true.

It's absolutely true. If you put color tint on it lowers the brightness no matter what the intensity or hue from the original brightness.

What's this I'm hearing about iPhone 7's.having a dimmer screen than the iPhone 6s?? Does anyone have a brighter screen than the 6s? If so can you post a picture please? Apple said it was 25% BRIGHTER. Hopefully this is a software issue because that's a bunch of ******** Apple.

Yup, that's what is happening with mine. Just fired up the 7, then turned on the 6s. It was startling! My iPhone 6S is much much brighter than my 7. Of course I'm guessing here, but I bet my 7 is 2/3 the brightness of the 6S. Hopefully this is a software glitch. If not, the difference is so dramatic, I would gladly keep the 6S and return the 7..

Did the Apple Store employees say anything? I scheduled an appointment tomorrow to see if they can replace the unit. I don't have much expectations though. I didn't test my new phone in bright daylight though. I am afraid that I won't be able to see anything! This is a big scam. I hope Apple fixes the issue promptly.

Somewhere around iOS 7, a feature was added which would automatically dim the screen when the iPhone got hot. At a certain point, the LED flash would also disable and, if it got even hotter, you would get an overheat warning.

I can't see enough to discern a pattern, but at least a few have said that the screen is dimmer while restoring from iCloud, which is definitely a processor-intensive process and heats up the phone, and full brightness returns once the restore process completes. The Restore from iCloud process could be causing phone temperatures to reach the threshold where brightness is temporary capped, or it could even be hard-coded to engage the brightness cap during a restore regardless of the phone temperature.

I'm restoring now, my phone is definitely warm, and my maximum brightness is definitely limited. We'll see what happens when restore is complete and/or my phone cools down.

Something is definitely wrong here. 25% brighter should be an extremely visible increase. Even if the screens were identical in brightness that would indicate that something is not working correctly.

Does anyone have a phone showing increased brightness? It seems like something must be wrong with the direct sunlight boost functionality we've been hearing about

Dimmer than the 6 is a definite challenge, but to say that "25% brighter" should be obvious to the eye is a fallacy without understanding the measure of brightness.

The most commonly used measure of brightness today is lumens. 25% more lumens depending on where you started in the scale, would probably not be obvious, certainly not dramatic, to the human eye.

That being said, I have no idea how to interpret these "nits" they referenced in the presentation of the new Watch...

This stupid phone is going back. Not only is my screen yellow but it doesn't get as bright as my IP6 despite Apple claiming its 25% brighter.

I'll probably re-buy in January by then I hope this early adopter crap is resolved.

Did this just come along in IOS 10? i can't tell you how many times I've seen otherwise good devices returned for being a warmer temperature. I played with mine. You can definitely make it as 'cool' as you want that way.

On topic though, I compared the 7 and 7 plus i just got to my 6 and i don't know if its brighter but both are clearly just as bright.

Your right. I see it now. I rebooted my phone. Now it is show the option for intensity.
[doublepost=1474085662][/doublepost]Still disagree about the brightness once I changed the intensity. But if this is a issue. Hopefully they will push a update to correct out of the box screen dimness.

Yea but it really seems like a hardware issue imo. Hopefully it is software
