The 7Plus Rose Gold on left. My 6s plus on the right. Settings all the same. Pictures taken on my iPad mini 4.
Notice the yellow tint and dimness. On the left. I'm not concerned now. I will let a few days go by to see if there is improvement or update to correct.

Didn't even read the full thing because ultimately Apple promised us 25% more brightness. There is basically no reason they can't deliver on that promise.
It could be brighter while being duller because the display is warmer.

We'll should wait for people to perform actual measurements on the display because jumping to conclusions.

But there's a yellow tint on your screen and if you use the color tint option to change the tint to get rid of the yellow it lowers the original brightness. Apple effed up

Dude, just stop. If that was true then why isn't everyone with an iPad Pro (like myself) complaining about screen brightness while using 'true tone'? it just adjusts the color temp and has nothing to do with the brightness. It just appears dimmer to you. If you're unhappy with your phone then take it back. Simple as that.

Yea but that's a hardware flaw. Because when Apple advertises 25% more brightness in their keynote, that is significant and thus should be the case with every single phone.

Again unless you are going to back up your claims with proof, then you should stop. The color tint does reduce brightness. Bottom line.

That is a crazy difference lol

Turn off auto brightness, turn off night shift... put both phones at 50% brightness and then at 100%. Post comparison pics.

Here's a crazy idea...go to your settings and adjust the brightness. I went that and by defaults, the phone's brightness is set only a few notches from the lowest it can go lol.

Uhh, my 6 plus is actually yellower than the 7.

The brightness is a more important issue than a warmer tint. The brightness is a major selling point of the 7

Yea a dim screen is garbage. Can't believe fanboys are still defending Apple when the QC this year is so ******. Day 1 and all I'm reading about is screen issues once again along with non flush sim trays, and even weird sounds from the back of the phones. Seriously Apple. Wtf

When I first got it, the 7+ feels like it's 25% dimmer than the 6s+. But I'm happy to report that after using it for a while, they are about the same brightness now. 7+ has a warmer color temperature, which is expected and is more natural.

I remember when I had a replacement iPhone 6 Plus, the new screen was very dim when I first got it and became brighter after using it for a while. So give it some time.

Here's some proof. Auto-dimm OFF, night shift OFF for both.

Not sure if it's just the picture but your 7 plus seems to have a pinkish/reddish tint on the left side

FWIW, I just held my 6s+ side by side with my 7+ and the 7+ is just a slight bit brighter than my 6s+ with the brightness cranked up all the way and Night Shift turned off on both.

I think you are right. It's a little less noticeable now then it was out of the box from earlier today.

That's how my 7 is compared to my 6 plus as well. However there does seem to be some QC issues if there are so many conflicting reports.

From left to right, iPhone just for fun, then 5S, then 6, then 7. (Night Shift off on each via turning off the manually enable option.) I see a slight color warmth difference, but no brightness difference. Picture taken by an iPad.

Oh. Just noticed you asked for 50% brightness too. No pic, but that looks the same as well.

That yellow 7 is gross lol

Damn that's sucks. I don't have an old iPhone to compare it to. But I have a note 5 note 5 is way brighter and more vibrant. Trying not to even turn on the note screen anymore. As every time I get used to it I have to go back and check an app.

Side note. Does anyone know how to make the keyboard clicks louder.

Mine also come with much lower brightness on max setting and yellow tint is crazy. I have tried to adjust using the color filter, but the bottom left of screen still yellow.

Honestly, I have never had a problem with iPhone since iPhone 6, and defect just keep on coming one by one and end up switching 6 of them. 6s came with dead pixel out of box and swap right away. Thought they might sort out quality issues but they didn't. Not to mention the home button and camera is also no longer sapphire.

Apple is definitely trying to cheap out on the phone and it's ridiculously awful.

I'm confused. They did definitely say 25% brighter...so what's going on here? Is this a glue drying thing that will correct itself over time? Did Apple outright lie? Is there a software problem?

Mine is super bright, didn't compare it to my 6s but there's definitely no yellow tint on my 7 (too tired to post pics sorry).

Dude don't tell me to relax. I paid a lot of money for a phone that seems to be made with little care (first the cheap lens cover, -and now dimmer displays?). Apple made it a point to consistently tell the world that it's 25% brighter. It was basically touted as being a major new update to the screen. I have yet to literally see that in any comparison picture. In fact all I'm reading on forums is about the dimness on the 7.

I'd love to see a picture because all I've heard about is dimmer and yellow screens.

These phones all have return policies, so if by chance you end up with a lemon or you just don't like the phone itself, you can return it within so many days. There is no sense getting worked up over a bunch of random forum posts, a percentage of which are likely just trolls anyway.

If you can't stand reading negative posts without getting worked up then it is likely best to avoid this place around launch time.

so i never ever post but i thought i would post my experience

i bought my phone local time 2pm and when i first went home and restored from icloud backup my phone screen was extremely dim and yellow.

around 5pm i DFU'd the phone and used my icloud backup once more.

it's now 11pm and my display seems to be normal now (brightness is as bright as my iphone 6 but a tad warmer).

i don't know if it was the DFU that fixed the issue, or if it was just the time that passed, or a combination of the two.

i will go to the apple store tomorrow and compare just to cover all my bases
