Has anyone else noticed that the auto-brightness feature is much more 'responisive' , it seems to change the brightness much more freqently ? I think this is a positive point, but meaby this is one of the factors that causes shorter battery life ?

I have also noticed this. However, I don't think it is the cause of worse battery life because the point of that feature is to increase battery life.

Pioneer car system

I have a huge problem... yesterday as normal i used my ipod touch with the 2.x firmware as usual with my pioneer deh 6950... so i got back home and i plugged the ipod touch to my pc to sync (i never do because the pioneer radio charges it) so i (dont know why) spended 9 dolars in the new firmware, but now it doesnt work proprly with my car, cant see the artists, it takes like 3 minutes to start, and it freezes. im 100% shure that is because of the new firmaware because ive used it with my car without any problemssince i bought the ipod, so my quistions
1) im not way informed about the ipod stuff, do they attend issues like this or they will (as others companes do) just ignore it?
2) if apple doesnt take care of this problem..how can i get to the old firmware?...i barely now how to sinc the little gadget so dont spect me to hack it jejeje

Its very important to me because 99% of the time i use my ipod is in the car so i want to be able to use it right

some information:
1) the ipod and my car work have a few working features left, after waiting 2 minutes i can load the playlists, and surf between them with a huge lag
2) it charges the ipod
3) every aplication works fine even when conected to the car, my radio never allowed me to surf the musci from the ipod when connected to the car, so the freezin artist list and the lag occurs on the dash screen.
i have a first genertin ipod touch
4) i have a pioneer 6950 ib, with the ipod ready cable

thanks in advance...this is my first of many post to come

Wi-Fi has certainly been an issue. Can you try to restore your iPod as a new device. This should help

Thanks for your advice. I tried this. But it did not help.
If I switch WiFi on, I can see my Wlan, but it has often just one bar instead of 3, even when I`m sitting in front of my router. If I click on the wlan, this ip stuff appears on the screen but everything stays empty and he doesn't ask for password.
Do I click on safari he asks me to select a wlan. when I click on my wlan, he also asks for the password and then happens nothing. I don't even notice that he's trying to connect.

So is my hardware broken ? And if it is - caused the new firmware this (maybe the touch getting too hot or something) ?
I mean it was a process of daily getting worse leading up to nothing happens anymore. First...after the installation, wifi was okay !

Does anybody has experience with a downgrade to 2.2.1. ? I'm not up for it anymore....maybe I have my ipod to send in to Apple ????

????

When is a fixed version of 3.0 coming out. Every morning my Ipod is dead even if i charge it before i go to bed, and I still am having problems with my mail. When go into mail it pops up for a few seconds then goes back to home screen.

Please apple help us!!!!

If you want to downgrade and see if it still works please start a new thread as this would require a bit of hacking. Sorry, but not the place for it

People have been having issues with battery life and the Mail app. However, it would seem that 3.0.1 will be released sometime between the End of July and the beginning of August.

Why hacking ?
If I use a 2nd computer with a different itunes, loading the old 2.2.1 firmware i guess it would work to downgrade that way. If my touch works then remains to be seen.
But where`s the hacking ?
Sorry for the OT - if I`m downgrading I use a different thread......just please answer that hacking thing. THANKS

I have read a few threads on downgrading back to 2.2.1 and they all said that a few hacks will be needed. I have not tried this myself and I am sorry if I was incorrect initially.

WiFi Bug

I honestly can't figure out the WiFi bug -- it's clearly one of the biggest 3.0 drawbacks. I can be ten feet away from a router and have the signal strength either pegged or barely show up. It fluctuates like it was possessed.

Same here:(. Hopefully it will get fixed real soon along with the rest of these issues and this thread and slow down a bit:).

please help

Guys i am getting pretty deperate, and angry why did apple charged me 9 dolars for something that makes my ipod useless, they should release and update right now, its not like i found my ipod growing in a tree, i paid like 400 dolars for my ipod, 200 for my pioneer like 50 dolars for the cable and 10 more for this upgrade, i need it to work, how do i get back to 2.21?
thanks

Is it just me or did the connection to the iTMS and the App store improve yesterday!!? Since 3.0 it has been near impossible to update apps and buy music from my iPod, I was waiting more than 5 minutes to get the updates page to load. Since yesterday the speed seems to have improved.

Anyone else notice this?

Same here. Before a few days ago, it was very slow loading the Updates page in the App Store, but it seems it has been fixed

I may revert back. The assets-to-liabilities ratio is worse that I expected.

How did you get your money refunded?

I actually went into the iTunes Store's order history and attempted to report a problem with the purchase of the software, but the only thing I could report a problem with was David Hasslehoff's Jump in my Car (bad taste alert). So I reported a problem with that instead, and said at the top of the problem description that my issues were with 3.0 and nothing to do with the song.

I wonder how many of these problems will be fixed by 3.1.

36. PLEASE NOTE: When plugging your device into a dock, the volume controls will disappear. This is NOT a bug! Your docking station now controls your devices volume. Once unplugged, the volume controls should fade back in. Once again, this is not a bug! However, some users have reported that only restarting the device will work. If this is the case for you, then it is a bug

After I restored the Ipod first with the last backup (still no WifI) I restored it as a whole new device (still no Wifi).
So I didn't fixed that wifi-thing, but controls fading in after being connected to a dock works now fine.
So if anybody has this prob, restoring helps (even I don't know if it was the first restore (backup) or the second (as a new device).

Yes. This is something I failed to mention in my post regarding restoring. Make sure you restore your device as new and NOT as a backup. The reason is because it will have the same files (which are corrupt). Restoring as a new device will not fix every issue, but should fix some. I am still puzzled at your Wi-Fi issue however.

I downgraded now and everything is fine now again. WiFi is back.
Downgrading is easy. No hacks :) Look for the other thread here.

Help

Hello everyone im new to the forum and i need help with my jail-broken Ipod Touch 2g on my Mac.

I was using cydia and i installed a package. it told me to restart my springboard, but instead it got stuck at a black screen and the apple logo flashes every now and then. Also i can't restore or do a hard shut down because it doesnt show in itunes.

I dont know if this helps but the package was about some ability to delete cydia packages right off of springboard.

(EDIT) Nevermind guys i fixed my ipod by running the battery out, but i think everyone should make this a known problem/solution.

Well, I have NOT gotten the 3.0 update yet for my iPod Touch 1st generation, but have been having this problem since early this year:

"6. "I've had some wonky behavior with Wi-Fi. Often when I open Safari, the Wi-Fi icon disappears and it tells me I'm not connected. Then the icon reappears and it connects to the page I wanted. Same thing in the App Store, it'll come up with the "Not Connected" graphic then decide to connect." (Resplendent):
RESOLUTION- Turn off your iPod Touch, let it sit for 10 minutes, turn the iPod back on. Sync with iTunes. It should now work."

It was not there when I first got it and now my WiFi does exactly what is posted above. I don't know what the issue is, especially since I don't have 3.0 software. My WiFi is so bad that even on the same floor and just a few rooms away it still gets a poor signal or even drops it. Makes me wonder what is going on or if it is the iPod Touch itself?

Your issue sounds like an issue with the iPod touch itself, even without 3.0

After updating my 2nd generation Touch to 3.0 my battery after a FULL CHARGE goes down to 20% overnight. NEVER had this issue prior to updating to 3.0. This is not good at all.

They better fix this FAST. A lot of others are having the same issue.

The Notes application is messed up. I cannot make a new note because I cannot make the keyboard go away when I am finished typing. There is no save feature. If I pick an old note to look at, it opens another random note on my list.

Thanks for your advice. I tried this. But it did not help.

I do not think you or maybe others have a hardware issue. From what I posted before, my iPod touch has nearly the exact same symptoms you do but mine is a 1st generation iPod Touch WITHOUT 3.0 software.

After talking with Apple, they did not think it was a hardware issue either. But even on the phone with them I had the same thing you did with only 1 signal bar right in front of my WiFi network! It also drops the signal too just like others are reporting and is very flaky.

This did not happen before a few months ago, but seems like others are having the same issue too regardless of their firmware or iPod Touch model. Has to be something changed or is going on with the firmware updates I would think?

Iphone 3GS magnicifsation issues

Today morning my iphone 3GS screen looked like this:
Everythig appears magnified on my home screen.
Pic 2 displays normal home screen.

I have restored once. But no luck.
Wil take it to the apple store to see what the real issue is.
Looks like some hardware issue.
Have been using Iphone 2G, 3G but never faced this issue.

Anyone else faced this issue?
