3. When selecting what you want the iPod to do when double-clicking the Home Button, it still brings up the controls for "Music":
RESOLUTION- First, enter "Settings" and select "General". Then, scroll down to "Home". Then, flip the switch that says "iPod Controls" (so it is off). Once your are done with that, select what you want a double-click of the Home button to be. NOTE: Selecting "off" on "iPod Controls" no longer gives you the option to control your music from the home button. You can still control it in the "Music" app.
I can't get the ereader app. to work now that I have the 3.0
Its stuck on the last book I was reading. Anyone else having problems returning to the list of your ebooks?
Somebody PLEASE help me! You posted that whenever somebody boots up their iphone or iPod touch, there's a black screen that's there for a second. Guess what? My black screen won't even go away! It's been there since last night! This is so annoying. I've had so many bugs so far with 3.0! C'mon apple. Wtf is wrong with you? Can somebody please help me? Thanks!
when I downloaded a free app from the app store on the ipod it downloaded and installed fine, but when I clicked it to open, I saw the a frozen shot of the app, then it disappears, what is causing this?
I have hard reset it numerous times
I have synced it with my macbook numerous times, nothing is working, any ideas
Have you tried to plug in your device to sync with iTunes?
Yeah iTunes does recognize my iPod Touch. The screen is black that's all. It doesn't make it all the way to the lock screen.
Ok. Have you tried a restore yet? Turn the device off?
I can't restore my iPod Touch. I have so many things on there. I think I can back everything up. I'm not really familiar with backing my iPod Touch up, since i've never done it before. Can you tell me how to?
Sure. Here are the steps:
1. Plug in your iPod Touch and open iTunes
2. The iPod should automatically sync with iTunes
3. Once that sync is complete, right click your iPod and select "Backup". (Make sure the sync is finished though)
4. Once you do that, it will automatically backup
5. Then go and select "Restore"
6. Restore the device to 3.0 and once that is done, you will be prompted with a screen on iTunes to either start fresh or restore from a backup. Restore from your latest backup and everything should be where you left it before the restore.
Hope this helps and report back if it does not.
Well what's happening is that when i right-click to backup, nothing happens. Is it supposed to do that?
At the top, it should say "Backing up (Device Name)". Is it?
It does, but what happens is that my stupid iPod Touch keeps on turning on and off automatically, making it hard to backup my ipod touch. Now I can't even restore because when I try to click on my device to go to the restore section, iTunes just freezes! Apple needs to release an update FAST!
Now that I understand it automatically turns on and off, it sounds like more of a problem with the device, rather than the firmware itself. If I were you, I would make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store, tell them it started happening when you downloaded 3.0 and describe your problem. Let them figure it out after that. Have you ever had any other problems with your device before 3.0?
Too late. I restored my iPod Touch. Man i'm so pissed. I had so much music, videos, all of my contacts etc. that I couldn't back up. Since you said it's a device problem, I've had my iPod touch for more than a year now. May 19 was one full year exactly. Thanks anyways
Can anyone explain to me how Apple can in conscience continue to sell this 'upgrade' in the itunes store? At this stage it must be clear to them that it is a mess. My wifi is a mess and I have tried all the 'work arounds' but why should I even be trying work arounds after paying good money for this rubbish?
Apple are knowlingly selling a product which will worsen the performance of their customers ipod touches.
Apple make serious money from this 'upgrade' 1million downloads gives them almost 10 million dollars. And yet it looks as if they did not spend 100 dollars in pretesting. Even a rudimentary test should have shown up the wi fi problems.
Well, I agree with you. I also have to respectability disagree with you. The reason for this is because lets make a situation.
You did not download 3.0 when it was released (so no problems) and you really want to upgrade. However, Apple took down the download link for 3.0 because it is so buggy. How would you feel?
That would be the situation that some people would be in if Apple did that.
However, most rumor sites point to 3.1/3.0.1 being released sometime in the next week to fix all the bug issues. So look for it and it will hopefully fix/make the bugs less noticeable.

12. There is a problem that was reported about Shake to Shuffle not working. Please make sure you are playing a song before you shake. Otherwise, it will not work. Also, please make sure you shake the device hard enough.
14. PLEASE NOTE- The battery percentage meter is only for the iPhone 3G S. Not for any other devices.
Now that's just asking for trouble.
Yup; I'm just glad that I wasn't too close to the end of the book I was reading while I was traveling this weekend!I can't get the ereader app. to work now that I have the 3.0
