The iPhone 7 has already been slated to be degraded by iOS 11.2. It's only 15 months old.
The additional power management options have been enabled for iPhone 7 line of phones as of iOS 11.2, which isn't the same thing as iPhone 7 devices being degraded as of iOS 11.2.

Apple is facing so many lawsuits.
just unbelievable how people find little faults, especially when they know its Apple.
they been doing it for so many years, so its not something new.
i see it every year. look at History. History repeats it self.
If Apple change the color of the box from white to any other color some one would sue them. Why do you think there are so many rich lawyers in this country.

I'm starting to think NO out of principle and lack of honesty.

When I saw my brother's iPhone X last night, I understand him having to stay with Apple because he has been on the ecosystem for 10 years now. He relies on iTunes while I hate it. I told him iOS doesn't match my workflow.

Most of my issues preventing me to get the X is from iOS -

No location toggle
Tethering is way worse on iOS
Multimedia playback is worse

Add this scandal where Apple speeds up the obsolescence, and it just doesn't seem right. I don't mind going back to iPhone but it's the way iOS functions and Apple handles their business. Both are totally wrong for my habits.

I wasn't really wowed by any phone in 2017. Industry has remained stagnant for awhile now. They now remove features we want and add features we never asked for.

2015 - Make it curved
2016 - Dual camera lens
2017 - Remove headphone jack, taller displays for bezel Nazis

Add a new gimmick. Removed it a few years for another gimmick.

My next phones? I wouldn't necessarily trust them either since no company is perfect but I will go..

Google
Sony
LG
Nokia (HMD)
Motorola
HTC
Samsung

I might do a Samsung Note9 + Pixel 3 combo next year or LG V40 with Pixel 3. There are so many options and the only reasons why my brother can't leave iOS is iMessages and the paid iOS apps. He's already a slave to Apple's prison-like/gated community ecosystem.

I don't have those same problems using Android for six years and iOS since 2008. Both OSes just need to run apps we need for our daily routine. Their differentiation has narrowed over the years. So what's left to compare is hardware-stuff.

Displays
Cameras (like wide-angle)
MST for Samsung Pay
MicroSD slot
IR blaster
Big battery capacity

^ Alot of those aren't based on OSes and software. Hardware is not as easy to improve like software. It is either there or it isn't and can't be added through software updates.

Google which isn't a company you can really trust but everyone uses something from them every single day or Sony or LG again for me next time. LG has its infamous bootloops though. Sony isn't as great as they once were.

Can't trust any of them. It's not really Android vs iOS or Apple vs everyone else. It's us vs them (OEMs, carriers). Networks do BOGO deals to sell lines we don't need. It's greedy corporations vs us. They're all like casinos. They're the only winners. Players like us don't stand a chance.

Good to hear you are one of the lucky ones. Truly.

You do know Apple has ove 80% customer satisfaction rating, significantly higher than any other phone manufacturer?

He’s not “one of the lucky ones”. He’s a part of an overwhelming majority. Truly.

Yes, I’ll still keep buying Apple stuff, because in my eyes, it’s not a “scandal”.

“Poorly communicated”, sure, but after what they’ve detailed, I don’t think other companies can do any better about old batteries, either.

Bigger picture: this is another failure of “Web 2.0” everybody-has-a-soapbox-now and the ten-minute news cycle.

Lol, you are asking this on a Apple forum. Most here would buy an iPhone even if Apple required them to give up a finger or toe. Literally.

No. Most people here would stop buying iPhones if Apple started making bad phones. I love how every Apple critic here thinks they have a monopoly on reasonable decision making while everyone else is an easily manipulated sucker or a zealous lunatic.

It's too early to tell for some of us here with an iPhone battery that is still fairly new or not even a year-old yet. But if my iPhone does start to die on me like the guy below before the newer one gets released, forget it. Tired of this charade by a rotten Apple.

I thought I'd only ever leave iPhones if security became an issue.

If my iPhone gets throttled prematurely, yes, I'm open to alternatives for that reason too.

My eyes are now looking more critically at the performance of my phone with an eye towards competitors. I'd bet I'm far from the only one. I'm wondering if this is a defining moment for the iPhone.

Will buy future Apple things, because this is not a scandal. If you know anything about how computers work, this is actually quite clever.

The only mistake they made was not telling us. But considering I would’ve made the same choice they did, it’s a non-issue to me.

What??? So your fine with being throttled. Incredible!

The answer seems to be yes as incredible as it sounds. Same as when you know your partner cheated on you. Most will say they prefer they never knew. Some others will be hurt by the cheating and insulted by the lie. In that case, I'm not hurt cause my old 5s has stellar performances but I'm insulted cause it planted a doubt in my head. Providers in my area have good deals on 6s...

If it’s meant to protect the components and prevent shutdowns, then yes. Are you fine with Intel and AMD CPUs throttling if your fans get less efficient? Same thing.

Replace the battery.
