iPhone Blackberry Messenger Equivalent?

Yeah, I downloaded the app earlier and it seems pretty cool (I'm still waiting for my two iPhone friends to get it, too) but I don't like the name very much. I love the icon, it looks good on my phone, but the name takes away from that a bit. I don't mean to be insulting, I just think it could have a better name. Something short and catchy, I agree. :)
 
So it's exactly like AIM, only... it only works with people who have iPhones?

He's been finding every single BBM/Instant Message/Text Message thread on here and replying to them regardless of how long ago they were last updated. I'm sorta tired of seeing the ads myself. And the App is pretty redundant.

It's easy to not click a thread. However sometimes I'm actually INTERESTED in what's in those threads. What I'm NOT interested in is seeing the same application spammed by the same person. I'd love it if I could just ignore one person, you'd have been on it and i could've moved on without ever saying anything. So please, quit spamming your crapware in every BBM related thread from the past 3 years.

you know what, so far most of the OP of those threads found my solution to their problems quite helpful:

Personally if I were to spend my time making an application I'd make one that might make me some money instead of peddling free stuff. And honestly, ya, I believe I could make a much better app. But that's just me.

the iphone tariff only gives you 500messages free. after that 10p each.

but im a university student and a lot of friends are abroad so it costs me 30p a text.

in the last 10 minutes i've already added 8 friends!

feedback so far... please please add landscape chat! Also can you modify the alerts so i just says "Chat from John" and not "Chat from John: and the message" - just thinking about privacy...maybe an option in the next version.

yeah, the app really shines when people begin to realize how expensive international SMS really are.

we will absolutely do landscape mode eventually, but in the near future we want to do group chat and file xfer first.

as for chat text, yeah good point about privacy -- we can make it an option in future releases.

No, I'm "hating on you" because you're a spammer in disguise as an app developer it seems.

I have no desire to create an app that competes in that particular category. Just because I said I feel I could make a better app doesn't mean I should or would.
 
Just downloaded...pretty impressive.

Not understanding the negative feedback, but I must say that I just downloaded and this is a pretty cool "free" app.

Because this is not a native iPhone app, I really dont see the prob with spreading the word about the app, especially if its free and is the closest BBM option for the iPhone that ive seen thus far (but again - this is just my opinion).

Looking forward to group chat and privacy options.

Great work.

i never did hide the fact that i developed the app. and the fact that i replied to a few threads on the subject of BBM-like apps for iPhones does not make me a spammer; neither does your saying that i am a spammer.

I downloaded the app a couple days ago. And still cant really try it out coz i dont have anybody in my contact list that has an iphone! :( :( so illgive my feedback as soon as i can actually chat w somebody... But it looks really promising though

Hi buddy, 12hours of using your app and im loving it so much!
in just one night i've saved about £4 in international texts.

why did no one tell me about this app earlier! Anyway i hope your servers can cope, i've got 17people signed up and they've all signed up a few people too. I see big things for this app, even if it is just in my circle of friends who all have a blackberry or iphone! I think you should charge about £9.99 for this app - everyone would save £10 in less than a month!

On your website, www.whatsapp.com - you should create a forum with a feedback, feature requests and problems page. This way others can see what is happening with the app and you wont keep getting people like me taking over other people's threads.

Good luck with your development and if you ever need a tester, i have my old iPhone 3G knocking about so i will happily help you out.

Further feedback - when the iPhone switches from wifi to 3G, the app does not automatically restore the connection to the server. For example, a friend messages me "hello" while im on 3G, i open the app and read the message, the iPhone switches to wifi, i type my reply to the message "hello Matt" and hit send, the app says connection error and that im not connected to the internet - even though im on wifi. Quitting the app and reopening, and it connects again and i can send my message (loving that it saves the message in the reply field). It's a minor problem, but could get annoying if someone was moving around a house where the wifi connection was weak and kept switching between 3G and wifi.
