I tried both of the things you mentioned - 1. saving a screenshot and then immediately swiping up and 2. opening a link in Safari in a new tab and immediately trying to scroll the page I'm on.
Number 1 is immediate and very responsive, when I swipe up I am on the home screen immediately.
However, number 2 isn't responsive and I have the same result you do, I swipe furiously on the screen until the animation is done and only after a second (or more) it registers the input and I can actually scroll the page.
For the screenshot thing you have to be inside an app. Take the screen and after tapping on "save to gallery" try to exit the app. It won't let you except after 1-2 seconds. What a disaster.

So it’s iOS-only then. That’s odd. Seems like a design choice, Apple can clearly make it work “properly”.
Of course it is a choice. There is no shortage of power. The engineers chose to make the system slow. Unbelievable.

Yeah, you're right. If I'm inside an app it ignores input for about the same amount of time as it does while opening a tab in the background.

But why does it work on iPads and not on iPhones? I would think that’s streamlined. Also, like you said, it’s not a shortage of power: the A12 Bionic is absurdly overpowered for iOS 12, everything works smoothly, yet this animation is purposefully delayed.

The difference between iPhones and iPads is baffling for me.

I don't know why the engineers made this demented choice. Unfortunately, not the only one. The fact remains that on Android you can operate with maximum speed, hence efficiency and productivity, while on iPhone it is not the system that is behind you, it is YOU that has to be behind the system. This is a shame because I love many things about iPhone. But Apple is driving me further and further away.

I didn't even know there was a background tab option. Mine was set to "Open in new tab" instead of "Open in Background" which doesn't have that animation/delay.

I find the background option far more useful. In any case, it is just one of many examples where there is this voluntary lag to make the system slow. Unfortunately, I could make many more =(

Maybe I’m not as quickdraw err quick swipe as you, but I don’t notice any problem.

With that out of the way, indeed, Control Center animations do require completion before the next input, slowing down how quickly a user can exit Control Center, for example.

P.S. You don’t need to justify your interest/preference in Android to us. 😉

Are you on iOS 17? Why is there no animation? Anyway, I have no preference of anything. I simply would like to have the same instant performance on both systems because I LOVE iPhone. On the other hand, those who are blind or justify Apple's nonsense HATE iPhone.

I’m not understanding that. I can swipe down to get control center in any app or screen and exit it immediately just by tapping on the bottom of the screen or swiping up. I’ve still not seen any lags mentioned here on my 15Pm on 17.1.

Are you on iOS 17?
Yes, iOS 17.0.3.

Why is there no animation?
🤷‍♂️ I’ve never disabled or more accurately ever enabled features such as Reduce Motion. I do utilize Zoom and occasionally Smart (Color) Invert.

Just to re-iterate, I didn’t say anything about you being an iPhone/iOS hater, I said you seemed to prefer/have an interest in Android OS.

By the way, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab and have used several other Android devices. Beyond all of them being very laggy — which could be because they aren’t the latest hardware — Android’s opposition or at least lack of embracing gestures makes it way too clunky and obnoxious for me. As such, my only regular use of it is at my place of employment.

Sorry for the confusion. My response was focused on comments such as:
I'm usually okay with it. The only animations that bother me are the control center ones. Particularly when you do something like long press into the Bluetooth menu and have to sit through three back-to-back input blocking animations just to close the CC.
The following is practically as quick as I can exit no matter how fast I tap or swipe — which is fine with me.

You didn't long press a second time on the Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or AirDrop buttons to open the menu, that's when the pause is most noticeable. A minor annoyance constantly going through it whenever I want to reconnect and/or disconnect my headphones.

On Android the gestures are there, including the very useful one to go backward that always works. On iOS in rare cases. However, it is not normal that you don't have the animations, they are sometimes the ones that slow down the system.

When is that necessary? I rarely have any need to do so but checking just now only requires one long press to pop open the whole menu and one tap to dismiss it immediately.

You can select specific Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices without leaving the app you're in by long pressing again. Once you're in that menu it takes 3 taps to close the CC.

Ah, got you. I’ve never had to do that but you’re correct 3 gestures to exit out of CC.

I stand (somewhat) corrected:

P.S. I admit the Android keyboard as a keyboard (i.e., excluding things like language, emoji, etc selections) feels a little more efficient than Apple’s layout.

Thx so this didnt improve with iOS17. All the resources seems to work on the vision pro. So tired of double tapping because I was quicker than the animation.
