The biggest thing I'm getting used to again (going from iPhone to Nexus to iPhone to Note7) is all of the notifications and figuring out what I really need to know and what I don't (and therefore need to turn off). I'm not quite as happy with Samsung's calendar/mail apps as I was with the stock Apple apps, so that has been a little bit of pain to find what I actually want to use daily.
Lol, yeah I have hardly any notifications on my iPhone but everything is clamoring for my attention on my Note 7. I must have done something about the sounds at some point because I don't hear too many sounds but my notifications are busy.

Bad enough that Samsung gives the carriers too much say-so as to what they load on their phones.
When Apple created iPhone, they were already a huge very powerful company. They had the world's best salesman/negotiator in Steve Jobs. He hammered out an exclusive with AT&T that forbid them to load AT&T anything on the phone.

When Samsung entered the smartphone arena they had nothing. No influence. Therefore the carrier's could prevail, demanding access. Samsung had little choice.

And as they say "the rest is history".

I hope they go that way with the s8...just saying if they don't, they're not getting my money.

Bad enough that Samsung gives the carriers too much say-so as to what they load on their phones.
AT&T hasn't loaded that much on. What they've loaded, I've actually found useful to contemplate before I got it out of the way. I did find their Direct TV widget annoying but it took me a moment to get rid of it. They didn't load anything that changed the look of the interface the way Verizon did with my dad's Android phone a few years ago. That was hideous what Verizon did. My dad switched to an iPhone to get away from Verizon's hijack of not just the look but the function of his phone. I think the carriers must have learned something over the years or learned at least to step back a bit from flagship models because the AT&T bloat was nothing like what I feared. Even my husband, who is really persnickety about such things, agreed it was no big deal here.

China gets the "Pro" model of the Note7. Wait for the 6gb review next month if you want the best hardware and if Samsung ever releases this rumored variant. The silver lining with the Snapdragon 820 is software is correctable and be smoothed over with time.

1. Note7 (Exynos / 128gb / 6gb)
2. Note7 (Exynos / 64gb / 4gb)
3. S7 edge (Exynos / 64gb / 4gb)
4. S7 edge (SD820 / 32gb / 4gb)
5. Note7 (SD820 / 64gb / 4gb)

Still getting Note7 no matter what as I already have tunnel vision with it but the target is now on the Exynos variants with the S7 edge Exynos / 64gb a fallback. Needs 64gb internal bare minimum, micro-sd slot, and VR. A different phone might checkmark two of them but not all three.

Mi 5, OnePlus 3, and a Nexus lacks micro-sd slot. LG V20 might have all three but LG 360 VR sucks and Note7 looks better with S-Pen and water-resistance. LG's design team is obsessed with ugly camera humps this year. HTC 10 doesn't seem all that interesting.

I hate extracting files from iPhones and drag and drop files via PC is about 5x faster than adding or mass deleting files by opening up iTunes. Google's Daydream is still a mystery and VR still have issues with "motion-to-photon latency" that Daydream will try to remedy.

Note7 is still the best flagship of 2016 (for me) but Snapdragon 820 variant is not the best Note7.

Buy a Nexus if immediate updates are crucial. Apple updates frequently but they're often buggy and problematic.

There's no such thing as a perfect smartphone. I've owned over sixty flagships, thus far my Nexus 6P is best by far.

60!

Got me beat there mate. I thought I had bought a lot! :D

I do like Samsung hardware and have done since the original Galaxy S, had the original note when people laughed at its size and now own the Note 7.

I brought the Duos version from Dubai as i like the dual sim option and only carrying around one phone. However having read this thread there are a few points i noted

  1. As stated Touchwiz or Grace Ui is a framework and not a launcher, when people claim they get rid of touchwiz they do it via CM, or Aosp roms. However bang goes all the spen features with it
  2. There is lag even on the Exynos edition im rocking, however its few and far between and generally its pretty smooth, people must understand theres a whole lot more software running in the background due to the advanced features its rocking
  3. Updates are semi irrelevant in that major changes in Android are few and fare between. Material design and Doze were notable but thats about it. So far since owning the Note 7 i have had two software updates and running Googles August security patch. Most key system apps including Google Play Services are updated via Google Play and dont require a whole system download
  4. Having owned a Nexus 6, i dont get the stock argument. IMHO stock is dull with very few features, i felt i was virtually beta testing all the time i rushed to put a new update on.
  5. Again Stock may get more frequent updates but Samsungs software offers a whole lot more from the get go. Stock is only just getting usuable multitasking which Samsung has implemented for a long time, iris scanners heart rate monitors, knox, secure folders, spen features, etc have yet to or will never appear, yes to some they are gimmicky but to others they are value added extras
By all means Grace UI is not perfect but neither is IOS, i prefer apple tablets and can work in both OSes pretty fine however my usuage case suits Android on a phone as i prefer the freedom it offers as well as the additional features, yes it may be rough around the edges at certain times but the power on hand cannot be questioned.

Yes and Apple had theirs in development for a few years before that! So please, facts are facts. Run along and stop wasting peoples time here. All you have done is insulted me for no reason.
You do know that ALL companies have new products in development years before they are actually released right?
Samsung had a lot of phones in the marketplace before the iphone was released in 2007.
Like you said facts are facts....
All of this has been debated and hashed out soooo many times now.
Almost all of Apple's claims were thrown out of court. A lot of their patents they listed in their lawsuits against Samsung were invalidated because of the lawsuits as well.

All companies borrow ideas from each other. We consumer benefit greatly from this.

Would you gentlemen take your squabbling to PM's please, where it doesn't spam up a perfectly good thread? I'm not sure we need to drag that old flogged to bits horse corpse of a discussion about who was first out of the bay either.

Now a pleasant afternoon and evening to ye both, good sirrahs.

I am just trying to have a conversation but he keeps insulting me. Ridiculous. He is on my block list now. Thanks though for the advice but I am not the one having an issue.

I just gave you hard facts. The truth has been posted and reposted here on MR so many times now.
Then that article you posted was from 2011...there are a ton more facts and conclusion since then. You need to educate yourself. the copying claims are have been debunked.
There is enough evidence of BOTH sides borrowing designs from each other!

Then today in the tech climate we are in WHO CARES!

One thing I really enjoy being able to do on my Android phones is to be able to change the DPI with my Surface Pro 3. On the S7 Edge, the ability to do this is built into the settings under display, but on my Note 5, I was able to change it using ADB. On my Note 5 with the stock DPI, yes more content was displayed on the screen but some things were always hard to read due to the smaller font size. Today I finally got tired of it and changed the DPI to 640 which is inline with what I am used to on my S7 Edge and Note 4. I like to be able to read things quickly with a glance.

On my 6S and 6S+, there are times when I wish I could do this. Yes I have increased the font size on these phones to just above the center position which is perfect for most apps but I have some apps that insist on using their own font size which is small. On Android, I never have this problem, all apps use the system font size.

I enjoy using Android phones and will always be an iPhone user as well and each have their good and bad points.

This "Copying" garbage is all nonsense. Android didn't look like Android until execs saw iPhone. The copying argument doesn't fly.

Yeah because no one else had a phone with pages full of icons which opened phone programs before.
[doublepost=1472839107][/doublepost]
Instead of the word "copy", people should use the word "influenced" in their arguments.

Only morons use the word "copy" in these completely pointless and idiotic arguments. It shows a deep ignorance of how the tech, and many other industries work.

All manufactures copy one another. It happens in cars too. Hyundai/Kia copy Lexus/Nissan/Toyota on a lot of stuff. It goes both ways.

The difference is, when the car was invented, no one patented the car wheels. Apple tried to do that, and now anyone who makes a touch screen device is "copying" when it turns out that (like making a car without wheels) phones don't work as well without touch screens.

LOL @ tunnel vision comment. I feel the same.
