I'm not looking to my phone to keep my excited. Its a tool, a pretty flexible, powerful tool. It has plethora of apps, great extensibility thanks to the programs and allows me to be first and foremost in contact with people and also achieve a level of efficiency. I also like to play the odd game or two ;)

As for the OP's position of being bored with it. Well that's a human emotion that will occur with any material possession. I'm content with my iPhone, its the best phone out on the market. When my 2 years are up, I'll re-evaluate the market and my needs but at the moment, its uno-numero :)

I did not buy an iPhone so that it could keep me busy when I am bored. I have friends for that. My iPhone is a tool; it stays in my pocket and I only pull it out if I need to use it as a tool. If I need to use the GPS maps to find the closest In-N-Out Burger, or if I need the phone number for a local store to ask them what time they close, that is when I take my iPhone out of my pocket. If I need to Google something or look up a word in the Dictionary App or Wikipanion, then I take my phone out of my pocket. It is a tool. I also use it for text messaging and phone calls and email (along with many other things, like stocks, weather, traffic info, etc, etc). I did not buy an iPhone to keep me from getting bored. I have friends. The iPhone is a tool. It stays in my pocket unless I have a need for it.

However, despite my standpoint here, I am going to recommend that you find some good video games for the iPhone to keep you entertained. There is also Twitter. There is also the camera and pron. And now there's the Flickr App. Also, Cool Iris App. Between Flickr and Cool Iris and searching for "sexy....," there is no way in hell you could be bored. Just whip it out (the iPhone that is), and let your eyes get wide. :)
Hell, use your iPhone's Safari browser to go to Match.com and eHarmony and find yourself a girlfriend. I don't think you will get bored with that. :D (in that case, the iPhone will be priceless)

Wow words cannot describe how awesome that post was.

I got bored with my 3G so I got a Nokia 5800.

About a month later, I got the 3GS.

Honestly, if you move from the iPhone, you'll come crawling back!

It's a human tendency to take what you're used to for granted. If you can move to a new device and be totally happy, then more power to you, but it sounds to me like the OP's complaint is simply that the iPhone no longer feels new and special. That will happen to absolutely everything in life. You could buy a Ferrari and feel the same about it after a year and a half.

Well put! It's very annoying but you just have to use your common sense and think "would I really be happy with another phone?".

Ditto. I love tech toys, and none of them stay totally fascinating for long. I still love my Kindle and my DSLR, but I don't play with them nonstop the way I did when I first got them.

Incidentally, I ditto the comments others have posted about the Blackberry. My husband has one and I can't imagine a more PITA phone. Oh, and every person I know with one has had problems with the roller ball.

Hi, Ive had my 3G for about a year and a half now didnt upgrade (3GS) like most cause ive seen no need to. But every time i pick up my Iphone im sorry to say but i just feel bored with it. Yes i have a million games, facebook, everything! It just doesent have that appeal effect like it used to.

When i first got my Iphone i felt different like "wow" im one of the very few people with this, then as time went by i started to realize wow almost every highschool kid has one and i have seen about 30% of adults with one now also. If by next year (summer) the Iphone doesent have a major software, OS, and design overhaul im dropping the Iphone and going towards say a blackberry, xperia x1, or something different than the everyday thing. Apple and teenagers have manipulated themselves into "needing" this device when really it was only them trying to fit in or be cool and now that almost everyone has one its kind of getting discusting.

I now this sounds like a giant rant of some sorts but its just how i feel.

While it was cool having the 3G when "nobody" did, I do not pick the phone because it stands out and is brand new or the best of the best. I like what it can do, and when I switched from 3g to blackberry and realized I just couldnt whip it out and get straight on the "real internet" to look something up fast and efficiently, I was quite sad. I love my 3Gs and don't care that "everyone" owns one.

Bored with your iPhone, eh? Here's what you do (based on my own experience)

1. Buy a different phone
2.
.
.
. > Get annoyed with missing or poorly implemented features of said phone
.
.
11.
12. Go back to your iPhone, arms wide open

I went to Android land for a while, and probably the most annoying thing about it was the lack of a #$%@ proximity sensor!!! I lost so many calls with my face, and when I needed to use the keypad with an automated phone tree, I had a devil of a time bringing that up again. IMO probably the single biggest problem with Android is the phone app, but the lack of GUI refinement is a close second.

I'm back to loving my original iPhone; even with no 3G or GPS it's the best phone OS out there right now.

Then pretty much the entire forum community at large is comprised of nothing but idiots. I use that acronym at least a couple of times a day on a couple of forums a day. It's more polite than postwhoring.

ETA: +3 or 12 or whatever we're up to now with regard to jailbreaking. I'm so happy I did.

Well, considering the fact that "ETA" has been around for 100's of years, and is super commonly known as "Estimated Time of Arrival", it seems that using that exact lettering for something completely different is confusing and pretty moronic. Especially when just using different letters could have been simply done in the first place.

You wouldn't go use USA for another meaning, would ya?
Thats all i'm saying.

"Postwhoring"..... "Several times on several forums a day?"

You spend way to much time of your life on forums. lol, perhaps you are just way into "online communities".

It's only moronic if you're not able to tell from the context whether someone means edited to add or estimated time of arrival. I think it's pretty obvious in this thread which way it was being used.

I got bored of my iPhone too.
I then sold it for a Nokia 5800.
Worst decision I've ever made! The iPhone is so much better than any other phone I've used. No matter how bored you are with your iPhone, just remember that after the novelty period wears off your new phone will be 10 times as boring.

The 5800 is one hell of a music player though I must admit :D

no ****...if you know what it is. See, i don't spend my life on these forums, like most of you guys. So i'm obviously going to be outnumbered on this subject. However, I obviously realized it wasn't being used in the "estimated time of arrival" context. So you're right, it would be moronic to not realize which context its being used in. But not KNOWING the meaning of the other context isn't moronic.

So, he's using a very common acronym on a public forum in a less common meaning. He could have just used "EDIT"...the entire world would understand that.

Using ETA in your forum definition is silly.

Yes, some of what you say makes sense, but something to just get used to online and in forums is that you need to use the Urban Dictionary.

Can we end this off topic discussion now?

It's just a phone. It's not something that's ment to give your life meaning.

I've loved all 3 versions, they continue to meet my needs, better and better, they do what I want and need them to, much like my air conditioning, love it too, but now it seems like everyone has one. :(

It's incredibly irritating when a really great idea catches on and makes more people's lives better, oh well.

Yep. That was definitely the POTW (week)!

Anyway, back on topic, I get where the OP's going but don't like how he did it. I made a thread like this a while ago and (obviously) got flamed by almost everyone. Anyway, I then learned that if you don't really think something through, if you start a thread on an instinct, you WILL get flamed. If you don't have a just about perfect argument you'll get flamed. It didn't help that he was on MR, but even on another forum it doesn't help to contradict yourself several times, apart from using bad grammar/spelling.

OP: Next time, think it through before you post a thread against an Apple product on MR. :D Again, if you don't have a good argument, you will get ridiculed and people will be mad at you.

Go and buy another phone then, Give it a week or two and youll realize how good the iphone really was, Then youll go back to the iphone and enjoy it again.

Yes get a Blackberry cause no body has one of those:confused:

The only person that sounds like they want to be cool is you:cool: Its a phone if it does what you need it to do who gives a rats a$$ who or how many others have it. Go get an old Motorola phone in the bag I'm sure you'd probably be one of only a few with it.
