Just posted on 9to5, a regulatory filing for new iPhones, likely within 1-2 months.

Most likely fits with a SE refresh...

:))))

Great news....

Macrumors have now picked this up and posted as a news story.

For the form factor - and size - alone, the SE is about the only smart phone that I am interested in purchasing.

I never did get back to this thread; in February, I purchased an iPhone, the SE, my first ever.

My brother had offered to give me his old iPhone 6, (as a gift), but I just did not care for the form factor - as I thought (and think) it both too large, and unwieldy.

I must say that I do like the iPhone SE, a neat, elegant, device, one that is very pleasant to use. And it easily fits in pockets, and briefcases.

Agreed. The 5S/SE form factor is still definitely one of my favorites of all, and will be keeping both of mine also for as long as I can humanly get away with. Still have a 6S Plus for watching larger videos, but that tends to stay at home, as it's just nowhere near as convenient to bring with me.

If an SE2 comes out though, that's excellent news, as it means I can carry on buying iPhones again when the existing ones need replacing, rather than having to get stuck with models I don't like.

I had the 5 originally and loved it; loved the design, the solid feel, etc. Got the 6 and it had been fine for me right up until iOS 11 (shocker, I know). As I'm sure has been discussed, I would love to see an SE in a slightly larger dimension, maybe close to the 6's size, so I'd definitely buy one if that became the case. My 6 is really not much longer for this world, unless I take advantage of the battery replacement offer. Hell, I may still just go with an SE as my next phone.

You can buy one right now.....it’s called the 6S. Exactly the same as the SE except close to the size of the 6.

Really want an updated SE, but the screen has to be better. Personally, that is the only downside to the phone.

Absolutely agree. The resolution is the worst part about the iPhone SE. The only other alteration I would like to see improvised, is the edges can be rather sharp holding it in the hand, and I always preferred the rounder edges to the iPhone 6 and above, which is much more comfortable. But that’s just something I observed when I owned the SE.

Wow, you mean the long term battery life is dying already? Yeah, that's bad. Fortunately all of mine still keep their battery for the same as when I first bought the a few years ago, but they're different models. So I wonder if it's a model specific problem, or whether you just got unlucky. How long have you had your 6?

Wow! I am so ready for the SE2!

There Has been plenty of rumors indicating an SE 2 refresh might happen, but I also think it’s very doubtful for 2018. The latest rumor is now indicating a possible May release for a refreshed SE 2, but I am still extremely skeptical and I don’t think 2018 we will see a refresh at all.

So it seems that my expectation for the SE2 was nearly 100% correct...
The only problem to face in the future is the rumor that there is no longer a 3,5mm headphone jack.... :(
I hope that they will withstand to abolish the 3,5mm jack...

A10 processor and no sinless gimmicks, but 128 GB space - and a fair price to expect.

I am looking forward to the market-entry of the SE2...

There might be a trade off somewhere if the iPhone SE 2 is refreshed as many are hoping for, then it may not have all the same features that it did before with a 3.5 mm Jack being deleted. It’s difficult exactly what to say at this point, because there have been many conflicting rumors for launches, but I would say the most reliable rumor from Ming Kuo is that An iPhone SE 2 would not launch in 2018.

The removal of a headphone jack would indicate the need for space for other component. With iPhone 7, that meant being able to fit OIS system for the camera as well as dual speaker. Fitting both of those in a small package would be an engineering feat in itself. Larger battery and taptic engine would be nice too. So, good riddance to the headphone jack if those are what we would get in lieu.

If and when it will come, unless they’ll redesign the all phone, you can except internals upgrades only (CPU, cameras & TouchID) and maybe slightly bigger battery.

As for the 3.5mm headphone jack, would be nice if they’ll keep it, but wont be surprise if they'll cut it down.. and if they do so, hopefully they'll use the space for extra battery juice.

Use it for 3D touch or better speakers if SE2 gets face ID and edgeless borders and A11 inside.

Since the SE is for "less developed countries" and much more affordable than the much overpriced other gimmick-products, I hope that apple keeps separating the "simple" SE2 from their other products.

Would be fine if apple wanted to "protect" this "simple entry-product" from being bought by people with more money by preventing they can use apple´s "fantastic" EarPods with it and "punish" the people buying the SE2 by keeping the "old" headphone-jack... ;)

I´ll pray for that... :D

If the SE is updated, highly doubtful the 3.5 mm Jack will return. I think it would go against what Apple stands for in their beliefs that they believe the 3.5 mm Jack is antiquated as they stated, therefore, I think it should be spread even across their iPhone lineup that all their iPhones don’t include it, not just one. I think It would be a poor reflection of Apple for taking away the headphone jack, yet keeping it for one iPhone.

Nevertheless....

the bitter pill is that the SE2 will come with IOS 11..... :(

I would even pay 50 bucks more to get it with the stable IOS 10.3.3

Touch wood, but 11.3 is feeling pretty good to me (iPhone 7).

6 weeks before WWDC and iOS 11 seems finally stable.

No messages in the cloud, of course, but I’m not too fussed about that. It might make for an embarrassing moment in WWDC is it’s not launched by then though.

What is '3D touch ID" ? :D

About better speakers, how good you think a new tiny(few mm sized) speakers can be?

As for FaceID, they should keep all the "gimmicks\new tech" to their flagships models. :)
