This is exactly what I've been telling people. You can't tell me that this is a "SE," device. If it like a iPhone 8, acts like a iPhone 8, it's a iPhone 8.
The original SE stood for special edition. It didn’t stand for 4” screen now and forever under the name SE.

The original SE was a rehashed outer shell with updated internals.

The new SE is a rehashed outer shell with updated internals.

Apple’s history debunks your flawed viewpoint.

The fact that Apple discontinued the iPhone 8 with the introduction of the new SE, clearly points to the fact that as far as Apple is concerned, this new SE is an SE and follows right along with the history of the original SE, as to form factor at the time, and new spec internals at an affordable price.

I don’t care how many forum members blather on about how the new SE isn’t really an SE. The rhetoric is without merit. It is time to stop holding onto a made up fable.

It’s clear now what the SE name means to Apple, now that we have two points of reference. And it’s fine to point out that information to people, but I think it’s important to keep in mind, we didn’t have that second point of reference until only about a week ago, so for many people the news is still brand new. And some of them loved the SE because of its size. So for them, it’s really a grieving process, as silly as it sounds. But anger, denial, bartering—these are all classic stages. It’s just something that’s going to happen for a little bit.

If they’re still showing these signs when the next SE is announced, then that would be absurd. But it’s only been a week since the announcement was made, so give I’d it a little time before coming down on them too hard.

(I’m one of the grieved too, by the way.)

I picked one of these up so I could still have an iOS device. (Android user mainly).

Really glad I did. The older form factor is actually quite nice, biggest plus for me is that you can see your battery percentage without having to swipe down vs the Face ID notch models.

The white one looks fantastic. Finally a white back and black front!

What swayed me was the camera samples. I was hesitant upon announcement that it would be a bit disappointing given the price, but the fact that outside of low light you can’t really tell a difference between this and the 11 was the seller.

Nice pics. Looks like a Plus sized phone in your hand (no offence intended)!

I'm going to sanitize my new SE....

It'll be interesting to see all the hundreds of threads/posts next week from new iPhone SE users who have contracted COVID-19 and have had to quarantine themselves in their rooms as they play with their new phones.

I'm not expecting to see all that many, to be honest...

It would be interesting indeed. I too don't expect very many iPhone SE (2020) users to contract COVID-19, at least not due to their devices alone.

These phones have been sat in warehouses for a while, so unless the delivery driver had it I think everyone should be ok

Exactly my point I mean yes it good in the inside. But look at those bezels and a display even smaller than 5 inch
Are we back in the 2010s?

Well to be fair the 2010s only ended a few months ago. And the Product Red iPhone 8/8+ originally released barely 2 years ago. Lastly, not everyone prefers the notch or Face ID.

I’d just ignore him, he’s replying to almost any topic saying the iPhone SE isn’t worth buying. Either a troll or needs to get up to speed on why the SE is popular and selling so well, without any advertising I might add.

As mine shipped from Kunshan, I'm going to sanitize my new SE....

There's no harm in sanitizing it anyway, but you do realize that this article is from mid Feb, it's impossible for your phone to be infected with this virus at this point unless someone just put it together a few days ago and was sick.

Had they just shut down, then you could be concerned, but otherwise, don't worry. This thing can't survive on surfaces for longer than 4 days, other than the outside of a surgical mask, which is 7 days.

The white really is beautiful. Thanks for posting these pics!

I read some comments about how the phone looks dated, it’s an old design, or whatever. I’m kind of swayed into that because the “full screen” thing does look nice. So much so, I was initially a little sad about the new SE.

Receiving it today, though, and all of those fears are gone. I’m coming from an original SE and haven’t used any iPhone that’s been made since. So, to me, this new SE does look nice. I like how it looks more “modern” to my eyes, because it doesn’t have the sharp edges. And, when the screen is off, the fully-black front just looks cool.

I was also originally unsure about the larger physical size of the new SE and, because I run a lot, I am still a little concerned about that because I have to carry it with me. But, in truth, the slightly larger real estate on the screen does make things - such as web pages - look a lot better than on the original SE.

I think, for all of its benefits, the slight compromise in physical size is something I’m like to be happy with from here on out.

No regrets here at all.

I apologize in advance by being a little out of the loop, but what features (other than Face ID) does this phone not include that the high end phones support? I currently have a 6s, but this looks like a nice stop-gap phone to hold me over until when/if an under-display fingerprint sensor is released. I'm curious what I'd be giving up by getting this one now

One important feature which is not mentioned is the lack of touch gestures from iPhone-x, but if you are coming from 6s and haven't used touch gestures the you wouldn't miss it, though I would have preferred having touch gestures along with the Home button just to be consistent with all other iOS devices and also give it a modern UI.

Mine was made in last 1-2 weeks (Not sitting in a warehouse for weeks). Anyone can see exactly where their phone was built and when by putting the serial number in here:

I was wondering if that white was gonna be true white, or creamier like the XR/11 white - looks pretty much like true white.

I'm still on the fence about downsizing, but I love the way it looks.

Get a running waist belt (called a flip belt) to hold your phone. That will free up one of your hands. You could also use an Apple Watch and leave the phone at home.

I never said it was sitting in a warehouse for weeks. I just said that closure was in Feb and gave you info on how long the virus survives on certain surfaces. Only trying to help and give you some peace of mind.

I use a stretch pocket on my arm and the smaller/lighter the phone is, the better to stop it moving around.

I do have an Apple Watch, but that doesn’t negate the need to carry the phone because I can’t make phone calls or send a text message in the event of an emergency.

I think the new SE is going to end up being perfectly acceptable despite the slight increase in size. Time will tell, but I’m sure it’ll be okay.
