I have cases ordered for this, but I'm still debating. the only reason I may hold off is the new low end 12 coming out. If it gets the new design, that may sway me. Still, aside from night mode, there's no feature on the higher end phones that I miss with the SE... so then it comes down is the night mode worth the extra $300 to me? (battery wise would matter but i'm fine using a battery case for the times I'm out and about all day).

I was in the same boat, but I pulled the trigger on the SE anyway because the rumored 5.4" iPhone 12 is still at least 6 months away from release, possibly longer if it gets delayed, which is looking more and more likely.

I don't know about you, but to me 6+ months is a long time. The new SE is cheap enough where I can justify the $400. Also, assuming that you keep it cased and in great shape, you can certainly recoup most of its value come Sept or Oct. I sold many of my used iPhones on eBay and I'm pretty sure that I can get at least $300 for it 6 months from now. It is very unlikely that Apple will lower the price by then.

When will the YouTube reviews be up?

Be interesting to see if the a13 chip has been throttled in the SE compared to the iPhone 11s.

Did you get the 64gb or 128gb?

I kind of want one of these, but I am down to only 1 phone line now that I gave my youngest daughter my secondary line. Really jealous of the $199 people also

On the new iPhone SE, can you wake the screen by tapping on the screen or do you need to press Home or power button?

No need to press any button. Just enable Raise to wake. You pick it up and the screen lights up. Put a finger on the touch id and you’re in.

Also might want to enable "Rest Finger to Open" in Settings - Accessibility - Home Button so you only need to click once to unlock.

Not me. Delayed upgrading since I wanted smallish phones and all the new ones being released are either huge or too expensive. If I could tolerate bigger phones, I'd already have an iPhone Xr or 11 despite the notch.

At some point, we have to put away the notch discussions. It’s not that you can’t have an opinion, We know its existence for future iPhones is obviously here to stay. Apple may reduce the overall size of the notch, but I suspect it’s existence beyond an aesthetic choice, shows you the amount of technology involves that will be here until something can ultimately change the notch design permanently.

I was planning on keeping the SE as backup if I get the 5.4" iPhone 12.

It's looking like I might get a pay cut though which would eat into discretionary spending. I'll be sticking to essential tech upgrades only until this crisis ends. That means just the SE and probably a desktop.

I'm holding off for the 5.4" iPhone 12 and see how that turns out before deciding between it and the new SE. I love my OG SE but I want a bigger screen and better camera now.

Hopefully the 5.4" iPhone 12 Canadian pricing isn't too crazy. The new SE is $699 Canadian for 64 GB, that's just legal robbery.

Our dollar is terrible, so I think the 12 will be priced similarly. Am getting my first iPhone ever with the new SE in Canada and figure it will last me five plus years.

Right. I’m just curious how many people wanted the plus, but will settle for the 4.7 right now.
Guess I'll continue to beat the other side of the same dead horse you are. I'm settling for the 4.7 right now.

There are plenty of choices available for those who want a bigger iPhone; none for those who want smaller. While settling for the SE2, I plan on putting a new battery in my 4.0 SE when it degrades to 80%.

Hopefully the pricing for the 5.4 inch iPhone 12 won't be too bad. The new 64GB SE costs $599 CAD by the way, not $699. It's still costlier than I expected, which was $549 CAD. Nonetheless the new SE pricing is still far better than the ones for the 11 ($979), 11 Pro ($1379) and 11 Pro Max ($1519) all of which are legal robberies.

Yeah typo, but seriously $600 is too much for a phone that has used the same design for almost 6 years.

Apple’s Canadian pricing has always been insane.

No worries about the typo. I can definitely see how $600 is excessive for a phone that has the latest chip but a 5.5 year old design (give or take a few minor tweaks). The 16GB original SE costed $580 CAD when it first launched. It too wasn't a great price but the design wasn't so outdated at the time (3.5 year old) and it certainly beat the 16GB 6s price which was $900 I believe. The 6s is essentially just a somewhat larger screened SE.

I can certainly vouch for Apple's Canadian pricing being insane (I live there after all). Whenever I see people with 11 series iPhones I think to myself 'they have great, but vastly overpriced phones'. My 8+ may be 2 generations old but it's still plenty good and costed less than half the price of the 11 Pro Max.

Still, if I had to upgrade right now (which I don't) I'd choose the new SE over any of the 11 models.

I'd been waiting for the SE for months, I'd already had the money put aside on my Revolut account for it.

I had been using an iPhone 6S up until last summer when the screen died. Looking back I cant believe I survived on the 16GB model for 3 years. Every now and again it would completely run out of storage and the only way to retrieve the lost storage located as "other" was to perform a full reset.

I changed to a Huawei Mate 20 Lite thinking a semi-move away from the Apple ecosystem would be manageable but... boy was it a mistake! I can't understand why anyone would want to stick with Huawei and their EMUI flavour of Android. It was a horrendous experience ever since the get-go and within weeks I was regretting the decision.

128GB Black ordered, I cannot wait to return to iOS.

I wouldn't trust Huawei with any of my data or information.

How many people who are buying this phone would have chosen an se plus over it for a bit more?
It would depend how much “a bit more” would be. My budget is stretched already, and I was justifying to myself that the 64GB SE @£419 would be fine - but I figured I might regret it in a couple of years, so jumped a touch to the 128GB version @£469.

If there was a 64GB SE+ for the same price as the 128GB SE, then I would be convinced by the plus and accept the lower GB. But any more than that, and my budget would say “no”.
