Another feature missing from the new SE is gestures.. which is kind of obvious because it has Home button, However I would have preferred SE with iPhone-X gestures. That would have made it a very uniform experience throughout iOS.

from what I know about the 11’s modem ( not the Pros since they use 4x4 MIMO), I heard the reception of the modem is good, less interruptions and all, I’m happy SE ( assuming it’s intel) has the same modem chip as the 11 and not the XR’s trash modem which has stuffed me up here and there and ( if I am correct) has stuffed up my iPhone in cases

So I can’t wait to get the SE Tomorrow and replace this XR

Yeah typo, but seriously $600 is too much for a phone that has used the same design for almost 6 years.

Apple’s Canadian pricing has always been insane.

Definitely, I'm in Canada as well. I'm in the market for a smaller iPhone (either 4.7 or 5.4"). I'm gonna pass on the SE, since battery life is important to me, and it looks like it will dissapoint. The next option is the 11 Pro, which in Canada is terrifyingly expensive. I guess I'll have to wait it out a bit more.

All the Se will most likely have intel modems.
Thanks! I’ve been reading a bit the thread, and it appears that they have the Intel modems... but why??!! Apple and Qualcomm settled on an agreement, so I don’t get why not use it in Europe... I don‘t get it.

By the way, how much better are iPhone 11 Intel modems? Are you sure the SE will use this modems? Because the case is the same as the 8, and the antennas will probably be the same... I know the data modem is integrated on the logic board but still... what if they use the same as the iPhone 8?

I mean I’m not having issues with my 8 but that’s because I’m on iOS 12, I’ve read a lot of pains on iOS 13. One of the reasons why I still haven updated my iPhone 8 to iOS 13.

Apple hasn't used Qualcomm since 2017 and they're not about to spend R&D money to qualify a brand new LTE modem for a low-cost iPhone.

you do realize that this phone uses Gigabit LTE, like the 11

the 8 uses LTE Advanced but the first phones to support Gigabit LTE Are the XS/XS Max

Guessing the reason why they didn’t use Qualcomm modems is because they must of finalized the se internals before they settled with Qualcomm.

Can’t tell you about the 11s but I’ve got a xs max with a Intel modem which hasn’t given me any trouble.

Gotten lower signal in some areas where my Qualcomm iPhone X modem was stronger but apart from that works fine.

Their could be a slim chance the se might have a Qualcomm modem highly unlucky though.

guess we’ll find out tomorrow once people get their orders.

At this time all the touch id iphones use the home button or 3d touch side press for navigation, but i agree with you that they should have the option for enabling gestures in settings. My ipad air 3 has a home button/touch id, but also uses the gestures aswell which i find amazingly fluid and intuitive to use. Maybe in IOS 14?

Can’t see Apple adding gesture to phones that have the home button.

it’ll give people a reason to not upgrade to one of the newer phones if they only want gestures.

Wish they would get rid of the stupid home bar on the bottom of the phone. 🙄

Pretty sure people know how to use gestures by now no need for it anymore.

Or at least give people the option to hide it.

I would consider getting the new SE if it had touch gestures along with the Home button as on iPad.
Having the latest processor and iOS makes it very appealing but not having touch gestures means the interface will feel different on SE than other iOS devices which are intuitive once you get used to it. If Apple chooses then it can certainly be added with a software update.

The worst bit is the lack of edge press gestures to switch app. It seems they even had it included right up to the last minute, so 3D touch is probably still present physically. Source:
With no edge press gestures and no bottom bar, the SE 2020 will be the only phone released since the 6 (possibly bar some 2015/16 Android phones) that does not have a single action to swap between two apps

Sometimes, you can't trust Reddit.

Let's actually look at the document ourselves.

In all likelihood, it was typo in the document that the SE2 included edge press gestures. As opposed to the whole "3D Touch hardware is present, but Apple disabled it" narrative, given the cost savings involved.

Yeah I realized that that document said that the SE has that same edge swipe gestures. The document hasn’t been updated yet and I still see that it says the SE is there with the other Face ID devices

only one way to find out is our hands on the phone

That's exactly my point, the document has been updated to exclude the SE from this list

In all likelihood, it's a document error to include the SE2 in the first place.

If you look at page 151 for example, Apple was too lazy to even update the drawing for SE2, despite the fact the Apple logo changed position. Chances are, whoever edited the document simply added the same features for SE2 as the iPhone 8. They later realized the SE2 has no 3D Touch.
