I’m really looking forward to the SE Plus, too bad it seems like it’s most likely gonna be a bit delayed. Anyway, my money is on a 4/15 announcement for the 4.7” model as well, Prosser has my trust for now.

Not sure I remember which tech site but this morning in my news feed they were saying next week April 14th is release date. Looking forward to seeing some reviews on this unit

I would have loved purple, the same that is on 11
I saw a nice blue in the one post. Not that crappy pastel blue. When are they going to stop teasing with the nice blue. Did the same with 11 but instead was a green that mostly looks gray

Sure, people are buying online and this being $15-20/mo on device installment makes it a more attractive proposition compared to the rest of the iPhone line up. I'm personally gonna buy a couple to replace an original SE and iPhone 7 both with bad batteries.

However, I highly doubt it will sell as well as it would have in normal circumstances.
Plus nobody seems to be mentioning people will be getting more unemployed than working. Can use 2/3 of your first $600 supplement and get one. If they are smart they will release once the $600s start flowing along with the $1200 stimulus.

iPhone 8 has been out of stock at the Apple Store for several days now, with a delivery date of April 16-20. This virtually guarantees the SE2 will be launching next week.

Interestingly, the iPhone 8 Plus remains in stock. That suggests it will stay in the lineup with a price drop.

It looks likes Jon was right...next week, it is. Check out the 😉 by MKBHD.

Hmm... really? Well that's good to know I suppose.

It's rather peculiar that Apple most likely decided to keep the 8+ in the lineup as the sole A11 device. It's already had a price drop 7 months ago. Dropping in price twice in less than a year that's peculiar too, but I can see why they would do that. The 8+ would be the oldest device sold by Apple when the 8 discontinues and the 9/SE2 releases. Keeping it costlier than the 9/SE2 (a device with a newer chip) would hurt the sales of the 8+. I mean why pay more for an older device when you can get a newer one for less right?

I’m not sure the 8 Plus will stay in the line up. It may just be selling less and they didn’t want to remove the entire lowest tier before the SE is released. If people buy that now since the original 8 is out of stock, it’s still an extra sell in this tough time.

if iphone 8 was the oldest model to support wireless charging and it's being out-phased, should it mean we get QI charging on the SE2? The next up the tier would be X/XR/XS..which is too expensive still.

I'm pretty sure it will support wireless charging. Everything else would be a complete joke in 2020.

What I'm really curious about is the camera. I'm really hoping that it will have the main camera of the iPhone 11...

We don’t talk about the 5C.. shudder.

He quoted a statement claiming there was always the latest camera gear in the phones, which isn’t the case. You need to review his post in the context it was written in.

I’d be very underwhelmed if it only came in white, black, red. That’s not even the amount of colours the 8 had (they also had gold)

And maybe this is overly wishful thinking but I’d at least like a few colour options from the 11, the last SE had all the same colours as the flagship at the time (6s)
Understandable, but maybe choices have to be limited here to keep the overall production cost and the phone price down. I am just hoping they bring the original iPhone 8 red color back (same as with the XR I think) - as the iPhone 11 red color is different and not as good IMO. I’d buy that phone in an instant.

Good point! And true - here in Germany delivery time as of today for a silver 128 is 6-8 WEEKS

. You’re right, it really makes the launch next week now very likely.

Apple won’t be selling the iPhone 8 when the SE2 is made available. If Apple didn’t make an SE2, it would be a slap in the face to every SE owner looking for a low-cost upgrade.

You need to include later cellular tech. Wrong timing for Apple to include 5G support in it, but include B71 for T-Mobile and B14 for ATT. Apple needs a good excuse to replace the 8 in the main lineup (and relegate it for the real price sensitive portion of the prepaid market).

I bought the SE model early 2019 for my backup phone line for road trips (on a different carrier) to replace the usage of my 7+ I was using for that use case. Smaller, and mostly used for voice. So even if no iOS 14 is provided, it shouldn't affect me too much. I could live with the size of the SE2 for daily use, if I wanted. I used the 6 for 2 years.

I hope they have that white back with black bezels on the front like in the image. If they do have this on the iphone SE2, then its the model i will get most likely.

I saw it yesterday while looking at the Clarity for my XS Max. I have a Limitless 2.0 on it and my 7 already. My wife just has a cheap case on her 7 And figured I would get one for her too, but then saw the clarity coming out for that body style. She likes it but don’t think she cares either way. I’m thinking of getting the Clarity and their Flexline cable.

It's a matter of personal preference. White bezels aren't distracting to me. Yes, I know there's a black border between the screen and bezels but I never really paid attention to it or the bezels whenever I'm immersed in the content of my phone.

White bezels don't look cheap to me. They look classy, pretty, and a bit retro (the original iPod was white) in my opinion.

I was going to wait for the 5.4” model. After ruminating further, I think I will get the new SE 2(coming from SE) seeing as I am a very basic phone user. I use my iPad mini 5 for most everything. I would rather get the new upcoming Apple Watch provided it had some solid upgrades I could use in my ultra training, versus spend $700 - $1,000 on a new phone, which wouldn’t get that much action for the money.

Yeah, it’s a weird situation for sure. From what I’ve seen, the 9+ is definitely coming, it was just delayed due to production issues or something like that. Apple has never released the two sizes separately like this, it’ll be interesting to see what they do with the 8+ in the meantime.

I really want that 9+ though 🤨

I remember you from the pwm discussions. We’re in the exact same boat. The only thing is, I am very skeptical a 9+ will ever see the light of day. It’s not like they need to develop some all new chassis like the X, which launched after the 8/8+. The 9+ is basically a 6/7/8+ with some updated internals. I have no interest in the small phone for now. If the 9+ doesn’t come out, I’ll probably give the smaller 9 a chance, especially if it supports the Apple smart battery case.
