For god's sake just throw an A17 and 6GB memory in a 13 mini and call it a day!
Seriously. Apple released a new SE model, and people who wanted a smaller phone bought it, having no other options. Then, Apple released the Mini, thought it was a flop, and now here we are. SMH. I don't want a phone the size of a toaster oven, but I don't want to sacrifice features. Surely, I'm not alone here...

You're not. There just aren't enough of us (according to Apple based on their offerings). I'd love a smaller, feature-rich iPhone. Ain't gonna happen any time soon. Nearest thing to what I want probably won't be here til we get a Apple foldable/flip-phone The current market demands big phablets. If our cohort was bigger, Apple would provide the product.

Thing is Apple is under the impression that if you want something with the price/features they don't offer, that you'll compromise and take what they're giving you. Android really isn't an alternative to iOS for me, with my iTunes collection being locked into iOS exclusively.

iPhone SE was always very attractive for teenagers (with small hands).
It was compact, affordable and good enough featurewise.
An iPhone 14 formfactor would be absolute nonsense, due to the fact having 3 identical sized iPhones in the pipeline.
iPhone SE, iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.

iPhone Mini formfactor makes much more sense for people from age 10 - 16 (the school phone from parents at christmas). Asus Zenphone at compact size is waiting to get this place.
I'm a grownup, and I still like to be able to control my phone with one hand. Which makes the SE the optimum size. For me a phone is a phone, not an accessory.

Duck this. Hope this is way wrong. Apple, we need just single small phone. You don’t need 5 phones at 6.1 inches. Think about how absurd the lineup would be in 2025.

iPhone 17 - 6.1
iPhone 17 Pro - 6.1
iPhone 16 - 6.1
iPhone 15 - 6.1
iPhone SE - 6.1

Like WTF? These hardware changes are already super incremental each year and with major diminishing returns. Unless they go flip/fold phones which is a dumb gimmick if you ask me, this would be the most homogenous boring lineup with little to differentiate between them other than price. Just one damn small phone for ducks sake. Keep the current design or at least make it the mini design.
And this is the exact reason not to go with Face OLED for SE. It's just another copy of the rest. Keep LCD for PWM sensitive and get Touch on Power already

Some people like me have trouble with OLED screens. We buy the SE 3 BECAUSE of the LCD screen.

And there are also people that just prefer the Home button.

Many of these people can afford the latest Pro phone, it just does not work with their eyes. Nausea, headache, tired eyes, etc.
And what's even the point if they make it Face and OLED like the three others that already exist?

For those that are fans of both touch id and screen space, why not an SE 4 that looses the forehead but keeps the chin with touch id... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
iPhone SE 4 MockUp.jpg

...may be too much change in screen size and shape, etc. for Apple to keep at the lower price point... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Keeping one model with touch id would be a plus imo as i know many that are not fans of face id and the additional swipe up or back tap needed.

That design won't only be more expensive per individual unit, but it will be a niche product as well because most prefer an all-screen design.

Apple just needs to add Touch ID to the sleep/wake or action button so we can move on from this discussion already.

You are not alone.

The problem with the 12 and 13 mini was pricing. Since most people buy their phones on a 24-36 month interest free loan the monthly price difference was anywhere between $0-$3 depending on carrier deals. That was just never going to work for most people as the regular and max phones offered not only a larger screen, but much longer battery life for what is quite literally less than 1 cup of a fresh brewed coffee.

My hope is that apple has enough left over parts from the iPhone 13 mini and make that the iPhone SE 4 instead of the popular rumor of another 6.1' iPhone.

I would accept this as a alternative to Touch on Power

Agree with the first point about costs... but the second point not so sure...

i think many were and are fans of touch id and touch id's instant one action press to unlock to home screen, instead of the raise or tap, then face to unlock, then swipe to get to home screen with face id...

just because people buy the latest and largest with face id doesn't necessary mean they like face id i think, it's just that face id is all that's offered on the latest and largest, and they prioritize the latest and largest imo.

small issue but having the button on the side negates quick one finger access to home screen when flat on a work surface - but this would be the most cost efficient way to accomplish the fuller screen + touch id mix

I've been looking forward to the next iphone mini. The mini phone is great for people who don’t need to use their phone to watch videos. But iPhone SE 4 does not retain the home button. . . I really like the Touch ID feature. I worried about unlocking when I forgot my password and facial recognition failed. For convenience, third-party tools such as TunesKit iPhone Unlocker are a good choice. If the home button is still retained, then I will buy it.

You will need the PIN in any iphone after each reboot.
