I wonder if Apple will drop the iPhone 14 and replace it with the new SE next year rather than the 14 dropping to the tier currently occupied by the iPhone 13. The USB-C legislation will be coming in so the iPhone 14 would need to be redesigned in order to be legal in the EU so I am wondering if the iPhone 14 is withdrawn and the new SE is dropped in with to replace it. What the SoC and price are, I'm not sure.
With iPhones 15 moving to USB-C, and the EU prohibiting Apple from selling products like SE3, iPhones 13 and 14 post December 28 2024, I actually think this new SE will arrive much sooner than previously expected. Will take quite some time for Apple to release the new SE. Wonder how much the price will be.
Feels like a 2025 release right? Or one in September 24 when it’ll be clear that this phone is clearly lacking features that the regular iPhone has.Why would the SE get the action button when the more expensive 15 and 15 plus didn't?
Agreed. With a 60hz display and no dynamic island it’ll feel very ‘early 2020s last gen’ by early 2025.You're assuming SE4 is dropping in 2024.
It's not.
iPhones 16 and 16 Plus, or 17 and 17 Plus, will get the Action Button and move to either a 90Hz or 120Hz display (displays on Pros will also have upgraded at that point).
SE4 will then launch in the following Q1 or Q2 with the 14's display, non-Dynamic Island notch, etc., and can then also get the Action Button.
Wow I bet you’re right. With those kind of specs, if true, it's not going to be a cheap phone and it will have an odd place in the line-up, especially compared to a refurbished iPhone 14 (pro) in mint condition.
I believe it only applies to new models released after the mandate. Apple could still keep on selling the 14 models in 2024 for example. The whole EU mandated shift to USB-C might could indeed come in favor of those hoping for an earlier SE4 release, as Apple may be forced to switch things up and retire all Lightning iPhones from the line-up at the 2024 September iPhone event.
With SE3, iPhone 13, and 14 gone by Q4 2024 (December 28), it would seem Apple needs a new budget friendly USB-C iPhone no later than Q4 2024 or Q1 2025 or potentially lose a lot of sales to the <$799 demographic.
Some kind of 11/Xr or 12/13/14 style SE4 could fill that gap very nicely.
Might be released in 2025, once the iPhone 16 & 16 Plus with the Action Button arriveNo way this gets the action button over the more expensive iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
How about instead of it being an action button that is like the iPad touchID button on the side. That would keep touch ID and remove it from the screen area on a iPhone, now that would be a very cool. That's an SE worth waiting for. This would be the island free version of a full screen iPhone. No way this gets the action button over the more expensive iPhone 15 and 15 Plus.
All MBs have LCDs. Even the pros. Just smaller LEDsWith the M2 Air being an LCD screen I thought Apple might care about people who have unavoidable issues using OLED screens by giving them an option, clearly it was just about pricing and these people are disposable in the grand scheme of things. Looks like I'm stuck on iPhone 11 for the foreseeable future.
So what mini are u thinking of? Not mini size, not mini price. Mini camera?Wow I bet you’re right.
So mini fans ummm ‘rejoice’ - it will be a mini. Just not the mini that you want, of course.
I was joking. So what mini are u thinking of? Not mini size, not mini price. Mini camera?
If they’re doing two years of mini and two years of plus size, we might see an iPhone 16 mini. But, since there’s a lack of rumors on it right now, I probably wouldn’t get my hopes up.I don't see why they didn't use the mini chassis for the next SE.
This phone with OLED, Face ID, action button, USB-C, etc. seems like it will canibilize the flagship phones.
I suspect a price increase.
Especially what's the point if it's not LCD and/or Touch on PowerBecause 2 different 6.1 inch iPhones isn't enough.
