Just got my SE today. Everything seems to be working , screen is good no yellow spots. The voice in my Infinity's bluetooth doesn't sound quite as clear as my 6 did but I'm hoping an update will clear that up. Otherwise, I'm a happy camper and its great to have a small phone again.

Definitely my favourite iPhone ever, even though i have the sleep/wake button rattle and the yellow band across the top of the screen issues, i still love it. I will be returning mine soon and reordering another one hopefully without these issues, but if the replacement has them i can easily live with them. In the meantime while waiting for the replacement i will have to use my 6s for a couple of weeks, and i can honestly say i am not looking forward to going back to it even if it is only for a couple of weeks.

why even go through with getting a replacement?

On the whole touch ID debacle:

So, Apple says there's some difference. Second generation and all that, which I'd assume means that it's better.

This post is a celebration to an unprecedented and terrific iPhone upgrade.
Upgrade from whatever iPhone; in fact I used every iPhone out there for a while from 2007, from the debut iPhone to the iPhone 6s.

This one is simply an awesome release and it has the most valuable "feature" that an electronic device can have: a truly long battery life. Not a long life because of a great size that allows it (like the iPhone 6s+) but because of a sublime cocktail of components of the right size, of proven usefulness.

Just for reference I attached a screenshot of the battery usage during the first discharge of my new iPhone. I'm astonished.

Someone see it as an old design refurbished, I see it as a pinnacle in the Apple industrial design and in product design alone. Defining it old design to me is like defining old design the Tour Eiffel.

I find this model a celebration of a great design and a tasteful mix of what truly counts in a pocketable smartphone.
Best iPhone yet... No Chance!

Best Cheap iPhone... That's all it is.

Since I went from 5s to 6s, I didn't have to type my passcode not even once. But out of curiosity, how is the SE? The touch id in the 5s barely worked for me, I always had to keep my finger dry and the homebutton clean. Is the SE al least as accurate as the regular iphone 6 ?

On the touchID discussion - after using the 5S for a few years and now the SE: yes it is faster and more accurate and way better with moisture. Different hardware? Who cares - it works better.
I've noticed the Touch ID being noticeably faster than the one on my iPhone 6. However, when I retrain my prints on the 6 it's crazy fast for a few days as well. After a while it seems to "forget" many parts of the prints, and the accuracy drops from ~95% to what feels like 50-60%. But it's been 1.5 years since they made those sensors, so even though it's still the first generation in the SE I wouldn't be surprised the ones being produced now are in some way better. So I'll wait and see, but for now opening up the SE is pretty fast.

Maybe, but you cant argue that the 4.7 iphone is big.

Not only bigger than needed but also slippery.

I tried to love the design and form factor of the 6 family but I simply never come to love it.
It's a sort of unresolved design. There are some things that I don't feel harmonious: the antennas strips, the camera bump, the buttons, the wrong materials for such a rounded and slippery shape...

iPhone 5/5s/SE are clearly masterpieces to me. Form that follows function and form shaped on the human hand. Chapeau! We'll see them in art galleries in a not so distant future.

I don't understand what you guys argue about. Currently having the 6s+ I can say the 6s is not that much bigger than the se lol. I ordered the se because the 6s/+ I used in the past few months had all display issues and I'm sick of that.
If I hadn't noticed any issues with the 6s generation i would never have ordered the se although I need to admit that I love the design of the se, space grey is very nice.. Had the 5s in white silver until last Christmas when I decided to sell it in order to get the 6s.
Now I'm going back and yeah I'm excited but also disappointed of my experience so far with the 6s gen.
I might be picky, but I want my display to be yellow free, dust and dead pixel free, and without any black shading resulting in colours appearing in different tones across the screen.
The store manager said, that Apple might not be able to satisfy my quality standards..lol
I told him I'm an engineer(student) when he asked me how I'm able to evaluate the quality.. Wonder what he would have said when I told him I'm a house wife( I'm male )

"Opinion" for me it is way too tiny now. i still got an old iPhone 5 as a secondary device and typing on it is just a pain in the a for me. its like going back to a flip phone and trying to write a text. i keep on hitting the wrong letters and too much zooming on safari going on.

its crazy how fast things change and how quickly you adopt to it. i used my sisters old iPhone 4 recently and i was like omg what is this tiny egg shaped tamagochi thing. like how did it ever feel big :D

Can't believe we are now arguaing over our iPhones. Used to be arguaing between an Android phone and Apples iOS phones.
When did that happen? The iPhone SE is cheap for an iPhone, but not if Android is even an option. People who bought iPhones always compared them against not having an iPhone or not upgrading from their old iPhones. Once you consider something being a true alternative, Apple pricing is mostly prohibitive. Rarely there is case ( like with iPad Pro + Pencil vs. Surface Pro + Pen ), where you can choose Apple and not pay hundreds of dollars more for the privilege.
Little children have to say their's the best. Why do you even care about this? A new and faster one will come out in about 5 1/2 months that will blow our current ones out of the water (Hope), and then what, argue about that one and say, so what, its only a bit faster or better to justify our current ones?
Because most people don't buy a new iPhone every six months and this is the first new 4-inch iPhone since September 2013 about 30 months ago. And because this is the very first and also maybe last time the cheapest iPhone comes with the fastest processor. And we know, there won't be a major change to the SE design at the end of this year, because if it couldn't reuse the iPhone 5s factory lines, it wouldn't be so cheap anymore. That's why the SE doesn't have a number in it's name. It's not 5th, 6th or 7th generation, but it's own Special Edition. It's possible the SE will never have a direct successor, like after the 5c there wasn't a 6c, but a complete redesign of the whole lineup and there never is a cheap price tag on a brand new Apple design. Remember when the iPad mini had the same A7 chip as the bigger iPad? This situation never repeated itself and we couldn't know by then, because Apple didn't gave us the courtesy of openly calling it the iPad mini Special Edition.

So there you have it, plenty of reasons to talk about iPhone SE versus other iPhones.

Same experience and feeling here.

Definitely his uniqueness is already in the name. Apple itself honored him calling it iPhone SPECIAL EDITION.
In fact so special.

I won't argue that the SE is a better looking design. I think the 6/6s design was a hideous throwback Android design when it was released and I consider it a hallmark of the post Steve Jobs Apple. However, I do love the screen real estate, better camera and all the other goodies that the 6s plus offers me. Though I've yet to see a benefit from LTE advanced on AT&T where I live. Unless you consider 3 Mbps down and 2 Mbps up to be LTE advanced--so that's not really a differentiator at this point.

I'm glad you like your iPhone OP. The best smartphone is whichever satisfies an individuals needs the most.

My vision isn't the greatest but I have not gotten eyestrain or headaches using the SE as of yet. I have used it pretty extensively since I purchased it to make sure I like it and to make sure that didn't happen.

No problem browsing, one can zoom or use the reader feature.

No problem with Touch ID to tell the truth, it may have failed once or twice but those are inconsequential compared to how many times I tried it.

I watched some of the Masters golf tournament with the SE, I was really surprised with the experience in so far as the picture quality looked pretty darn good. I understand its size and small picture, but the Plus/S Plus ain't an Ipad either.

I played some games, Temple Run and Subway Surfers and a few other quick hitters and did not have any problems doing that.

I don't use the camera much on smartphones, don't care about 3d Touch or other features the 6s has over the SE. Obviously the biggest thing is the screen size but I listed what I've done so far and it is a tradeoff but I have a $250 savings over the 6s.

And you don't notice it as much in your pocket like you would a larger smartphone, especially the Plus and S Plus. And one handed operation is so much better than a larger smartphone as well. Battery life will not be an issue, I rarely ever drained any smartphone during the day that I've used it.

The sound quality with headphones is more than acceptable as well, I use Spotify and Apple music.

I haven't seen many people comment about this, and it's minor, but I prefer the way vibrations feel on the 6S compared to previous iPhones/the SE. The Taptic Engine really does feel higher quality. I know it's a minor and subjective thing, but I noticed it.

"iPhone SE, best iPhone ever"

I'll fix this for you. iPhone 6s and 6s+ are the best ever...Until September. iPhone 5SE is good, but not the best.

SE - more convenient size? Check.
SE - no protruding camera? Check.
SE - no unsightly antenna bands? Check.

So its a lot like the 6S, but better in some important ways. :p

Joking aside, I'd say there's very little in them, because most of the differences are down to subjective preferences.

Although the SE is $250 cheaper - I'm not sure the additional functionality (3D touch, slightly faster Touch ID, better front camera, barometer) is worth $250 though.

Actually its more (spec wise) than you posted...And I only paid $ 149.00 more for mine on a promotion (6s) not $250

If the 6S got better battery life I would have stuck with it. 9.anything and the battery life absolutely sucked for me. And I hate the 2nd gen TouchID. Also if they could get those bezels down to a smaller size but keep everything else the same, it would be a winner for me. Or make the 5S/SE body in 6S size. The 6 design is slippery and uncomfortable to hold with no case. But who am I kidding, I love them all.

Apple created one of the few design classics of modern times with the 5 series phones. They look great, feel great and, with the SE, have amazing battery life.

I'm a watch guy. By that I mean I appreciate and collect great watches. What I love about that particular hobby is that once a brand is lucky enought to hit upon a classic, they refine it and modernise it over the years. The rolex submariner of 1954 has the same design DNA as the 2016 submariner.

The one thing that has throughly disappointed me with almost all the SE reviews is the constant highlighting of the "lack" of design. These reviews reminds me of the adage "he knows the price of everything, and the value of nothing".

The design of the 5 series should be rejoiced upon. It truly is one of the few classics of modern times and Apple should be looking to build upon it for the next 40 years.

It's definitely my favorite iPhone design. I think some people don't like it because they want people to think it's new just by looking at it. Some sort of strange validation for their phone purchase to wave around as a fashion icon or status symbol or something.
