I have done that countless and still getting error. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Just restore your phone and start over using the ModMyiPhone.com/wiki method which includes a link to the GUI installer (iUnlock.app). It's way easy. No typing required.
 
Does anyone have any confidence in the sustainability of this unlocking? obviously if apple want to fix the buffer overflow issue they can, and will. but this will mean either another exploit will need to be discovered or unlocked users cant upgrade the firmware. Are there any reports of the dev team looking into an alternative approach in case apple patch the exploit in an itunes or firmware fix?
I dont want to have to think, i can never update iTunes again for the fear of loosing an unlocked iPhone.

I have a new, non-activated iPhone that I would like to use with my Tmobile SIM. I have installed 1.02 (although with the newest version of iTunes) and I then successfully installed iBrickr. At first I installed the GUI Unlock app via iBrickr but was unable to leave the 'Activate the phone' main screen. I then saw some posts about replacing the lockdownd file in /usr/libexec/lockdownd. After doing this (and a long reboot) I was brought to the main screen and saw the unlock widget. The issue was, I was not able to do touch anything as the screen was not responding. It then rebooted a few minutes later. I'm attempting to format and start again, but what am I missing here? I'm assuming it has to do with bypassing the activitation screen (keep in mind I'm a PC User).

Some advice would be highly appreciated

PS. In addition to the above, when should the old SIM come out, new go in, etc. I'm not asking for a full write up (all the ones posted so far seem to leave out these crucial details) but a few bullet points around what I'm missing would be very helpful
 
hi folks,

successfully unlocked my 4gb iphone yesterday.

Network tested: One (Austria)
Tutorial/Method Used: http://iphone.unlock.no/
APN: web.one.at
username: Leave Blank
password: Leave Blank

everything seemed fine, even data-access is working...

but: little bit later I noticed, that the iPhone isn't receving any call when in sleep-mode :mad::mad::mad: if the phone is turned on, incoming calls & SMS are handled correctly, but as soon as the phone is in sleep mode, a caller is almost directly forwarded to the voicebox :( maybe a problem with my specific provider/SIM-card?

has anybody else noticed similar troubles?

Oh dear..

After trying for three days to get an iPhone working with these hacks, I am throwing in the towel.. My boss (in the UK) brought one back from the US and after all of this, the iPhone is well and truly not working.

No idea if anyone else has had this problem, but the phone for a while would lose it's IMEI and ICCID numbers (under Settings, General, About) and as soon as this happened, there would be no Wifi and everything would not working properly (on 1.02 firmware).

This morning I decided to try the hack one more time, but I can't even restore the phone at all - with a combination of 1011 errors from iTunes or the 'SIM Not Installed' message there too.

I believe it is a hardware issue (the phone can't ready any SIM card I put in). All other occurrences of 'Unknown IMEI and Unknown ICCID' issues I can find result in a replacement SIM or replacement iPhone.

Sad to give it back, but hopefully won't have these problems with a UK purchased iPhone (which at least I can get replaced quickly)... Sigh...

in response to the instructions of getting a data plan...

I've went to the Plans page and see no Total Internet Plan.

Do you have to change your phone in order to see different plans?

I did try that. Changed my phone to a BB and the BB plans came up on the bottom.

Should I choose the BB unlimited add-on plan, its $19.99?

or should I just call them and tell them what I want?

update: t-mobile

with some searching around I did find out that you DO need to switch your phone at the top of the page.
I switched it to the T-Mobile Wing, and the T-Mobile Total Internet Plan came up on the bottom of the plans page.

YouTube iphone vs YouTube itouch

Hey all. Newbie "I KNOW"


Couple of question for ya?

Did the Gui Unlock for Prepaid Tmobile (everything is good).
I didn't have youtube capabilites before the unlock(cause of the edge-non data plan connection)

Still can't access youtube (understandable)

My question for any of you is if you need a data plan for edge to work
to access YouTube on the Iphone, then how is it that your able to access Youtube on the new Itouch.

Question 2 is, what are the mechanics, or better yet. What are the configurations in the new Itouch that makes it able for you to acces YouTube without the benefit of having a phone attached to it.

If anyone has the answer to this I'd appreciate it.

I can, but I can't get the videos to play

I get a message that I need, macromedia flash to play the videos.
When I click on the link to the website and hit download, it stops and
gives me the message that safari can't download the file.


I just wan't to know what is the difference between the 2 is.
 
yes youtube can be accessed thru wifi you dont need a data plan. I have t-mobile i have everything working feature wise except the obvious visual voicemail and I just signed up for edge and picked the blackberry and from people above that didnt work and it did with the unlimited internet add on so i switched it so i have about 48 hrs to wait for it to be active.

I was just gonna say the same thing, so I am redoing the unlock, but do I just always leave it in sleep mode? Someone has got to know away around this.
 
confirmed: IUNLOCK WORKING for ROGER and FIDO sim card in CANADA

I did the iunlock GUI to my 4GB and 8GB iphone yesterday and they both working great with ROGER sim card in Canada, and today I did the iunlock GUI again to my friend 8GB iphone and it worked great with FIDO sim card, we only use YOUTUBE over wifi since both roger and fido will charge us or left leg and left ball for the data usage....:D All 3 phones take about 3-5mins at the flashing firmware step in the GUI, the first jailbreak my iphone is harder than this iunlock itself.
I bought 2 iphonesimfree unlock kits and was waiting for the unlock code but I got refund yesterday already when he tried to tell me to do this free iunlock on my phone. I sent some donation to the iphone dev team for their great job for this free iunlock, and thanks to Harro for writing that easy iunlock GUI which I used to unlock all 3 iphones...
After I unlocked the first 4GB iphone I accidently screw up the iphone when I tried to edit the carrier name with HEXEDIT to make roger name fitted. The iphone would not boot to HOME screen anymore, it got stuck on the white apple booting part, I was so freaking pissed at myself. I decide to RESTORE the iphone and that took me about 10 mins or so, and jailbreak it and activate and youtube patch in one click again and I was back on ROGER and FIDO sim card, I did not have to do all the iunlock again. That experience freaked me out as I was thinking my iphone was as good as a door stopper :mad:and I would not dare to try that HEX EDIT ever again on my iphone.

so I can confirm that iunlock UNLOCKED all my 4 iphone and working fine on my ROGER and FIDO sim cards..:D

Does anyone have a suggestion for this? BTW I am on XP. TIA
 
Can anyone please answer the questions i posted? How are you bypassing the activitation screen for people who have not activated via AT&T

The reason no one's answering is that the same question has been answered numerous times in this thread already.

Here's a hint- use INdependence 1.2.1.

EDIT: I don't mean to be rude, but this is one of the reasons threads become 25 pages.
