so I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this. T-mobile user here. Questions:

1.) what data plan to I need? Ihave their blackberry plan now. Will I have to switch?
2.) anyone get utube to play without wifi?

I appreciate your response, and have read thru the 25 pages, but isn't Independence a MAC based application? I'm on a PC...if you could kindly link me to the PC based bypass (and i'm on iTunes 7.4)it would be appreciated.

1) I have the same thing... blackberry data plan and it's working on the iPhone as of now. you don't need to switch your plan. i would suggest getting the unlimited texting added to your account as it's much easier to rack up the text on the iPhone.

2) youtube works on both wifi and edge network. make sure you have your edge set to wap.voicestream.com user: (blank) pw: (blank). the edge version gives a compressed lo-res version of the video. IMPORTANT : use INdependence 1.2.1 when doing the unlock for YouTube to work!

How do I get the videos to play.


(This was my issue before & After the GUI unlock)


I have a prepaid Tmobile account.


I can access YouTube via WiFi, however the videos won't play.
I keep getting a message on the YT site saying, that I need to install
macromedia flash to play the videos.

I then click on the link to the macflash website, I hit install for the intel based OS file and I get the message that safari can download the file.

What am I doing wrong?
I don't know if this has been addressed already, please help !!!

I am working with both xp and vista

Maybe a stupid question, but is there any advantage to this activation hack if you already have at&t? I don't mind signing up and don't mind adding the $20/mo data plan (I don't have a data plan right now) except for the 2-year contract extension requirement. I just bought an 8GB iPhone today and would like to know before I activate it and get stuck with another 2 years.

Is your Youtube app working and how is EDGE connectivity. Basically isthere any major thing that doesn't work besides visual voicemail?
 
HELP!!! I'm having a real difficult problem unlocking my phone. Was working on it all night and still can't get it to work. I must have restored my iphone over 20 times last night.:mad: I'm using the http://iphone.unlock.no method. I'm doing exactly everything is tells me. All the command loads fine in putty, but when I get to the part where u enter the command "AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000" i get an "error" message. There has been a couple of time where everything worked out with the AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000" command, but when i get to the very last command launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist, is there something that suppose to happened? I press enter after i enter that and nothing happens. I put my t-mobile sim in and still no work. Please someone help me out!!

Umm the flash player plugin doesnt work in safari on the iphone thast why there is a youtube app on the phone to send h.264 video from youtube to your phone.

Haven't the time to read all of it, but I'll give my Dutch € 0.02:

Working!!: Tested KPN, T-Mobile and Vodafone in Holland.

Used following apps:

- iNdependence 1.2.1
- iPhone1,1_1 (firmware)
- Fugu 1.2.0
- Unlock (iPhone app)

Man, I am so happy!!! :cool::apple::)

EDIT: EDGE works too!

After reading what you said a few times. I somewhat understand what you're
saying, however the YT app is not sending the h.264 video at all


I can understand not being able to connect to YT via the shorcut button
because I don't have a data plan(prepaid)

But why can't I get the videos to play via WiFi?
 
Ipod on Iphone not working

I am so please as I was able to unlock my iphone and get it to work with t-mobile U.K. but now my ipod feature on my iphone won't work. I can't copy music onto the iphone and can't use the ipod feature on my phone.
Please can anyone help me with this.
Thank you ever so much so far for using any sim with the phone, but how can I make my ipod feature work.

in the unlock portion of unlock iphone page it says to enter the ip adress i found previously in the host name portion. which IP adress am i entering?

Probably the IP address of the iPhone on the Wi-Fi network

Go to: Settings - Wi-Fi - <your Wi-Fi network> - <the ">" symbol> - <IP Address>
 
i entered that and kept the port @ 22 and the dialog box did nothing. am i supposed to change the port to another number?

edit: it'll keeps timing out even though im trying to connect w/ the network i have selected

edit 2: welp, i'm a dumbass. accidentally clicked a box i shouldn't have and now all the info is gone from that window. no ip adress, subnet, router, or anything. any way to recover it? there's no info for the only other open network either.
 
Ok guys, clean-up time. What else do you want to see on the front page of this thread to make this less "i don't know how to do this!!" and more "this rocks, my iPhone is unlocked!"? I haven't been able to update the list of providers that works for about a day and a half, but what would you like to see? If someone could provide me with a few links to the youtube fix so I could post that, anything else? Let me know!
 
Ah! I just restarted my iPhone and it told me that there was an incorrect SIM installed. I re-did the iUnlock (twice) and I still get this message. Has anyone gotten a similar experience? What's the fix?
