Did you see this? Looks like it works for most Windows users.

I did, unfortunately they say if you have iTunes 7.4 you need to have an old version of the iTunesMobileDevice.dll in the same directory as iBrickr. I'm not sure where to find that, and if that is even the case.

Ok guys, clean-up time. What else do you want to see on the front page of this thread to make this less "i don't know how to do this!!" and more "this rocks, my iPhone is unlocked!"? I haven't been able to update the list of providers that works for about a day and a half, but what would you like to see? If someone could provide me with a few links to the youtube fix so I could post that, anything else? Let me know!

Hi, here's what would be helpful. What does a PC user running iTunes 7.4 need to do to bypass the activation (I already installed iBrickr). I believe you have to replace the unlockd file via iBrickr, although I don't know what source file to replace with.

Lastly, there is a comment that you need an older version of iTunesMobileDevice.dll in the same directory as iBrickr if you are running 7.4. Is this accurate and Where is the link to the older version of this file?

As well, I at one point did manage to bypass activation and upon uploading the GUI software for the unlock, after a reboot on the phone, the screen is not responding to touch. The unlock application icon is on the main iphone screen, but is unclickable.

I am really annoyed

Used this

http://iphone.unlock.no/

and I am on the very last steps. Up the here everything is ok

AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
AT+CLCK="PN",2

After Typing those commands I get error and page says

"If you get ERROR after the first command, try to exit minicom (see below) and run bbupdater -v again, then start minicom and try once more."

I have done that countless and still getting error. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

3rd time I have restored and started all over again, still getting the same error at the same step! Any suggestions?

BTW I dont have a mac i am on XP

I got the same error, but after putting in the sim card, it works right away. So try inserting sim card.

Complete rest of the steps though ( dont stop in there after the error)

I am on xp and used this
http://iphone.unlock.no/
Bought the phone brand new
Went around activating by restoring to required firmware
Used ibrick to upload files etc...
When I got the error after AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
I skipped the step and went to
AT+CLCK="PN",2
and rest of the step.

It is unlocked but it does not say t-mobile on the top left corner. Who cares anyways. hehehe

1.0.2 restore

I'm following the modmyiphone instructions. In part 2 Step 1 it says "download the 1.0.2 restore from Apple....anyone have a link?

The only thing I can find is iPod Reset Utility 1.0.2 for Mac which is 3.46MB, whereas the instructions say it should be 91 MB.

Thanks

I'm able to clear the activation now, and after launching the installer application via the iPhone, it does not search for any applications (aka Community Sources/
BSD Subsystem/OpenSSH). I am connected to Wi-Fi (at least I think I am, it makes a connection and I'm able to pull an IP address) but when I attempt to refresh sources it says it can not connect to any sources.

Anyone get stuck at this point before?

I see that lots of newbies are asking same question over and over again.
Here is the step by step instructions for people who has bran new ipod and running windows XP

Use this http://iphone.unlock.no/

Your iphone does not come with required firmware so when you connect your iphone and run ibricker it will tell you to update it.

Plug in the iPhone to your computer, first making sure iTunes is quit.
Connect your iPhone to the computer.
Press and hold the Sleep and Home button on your iPhone for about 25 seconds until it displays "Please connect to iTunes" and has a picture of a yellow triangle. It will appear to turn off and back on during those 25 seconds. Don't worry, this is normal.
Now, open up iTunes. You should see message says Itunes has detected iphone in recovery mode, hit OK and complete the necessary steps to restore and update the iphone. you will know when it is done.

Now this is the part where you go around activating process. Run ibrackr and follow the screen instructions.

and last follow the steps here
http://iphone.unlock.no/
starting from step 1 for rest of the process

one you come the step before the last one where it says type commands

AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"
AT+CLCK="PN",2

if yo get an error after

AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"

quit minicom rn bbupdater -v then get back into minicom and last skip the part
AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000"

just enter

AT+CLCK="PN",2
you will be fine. Finaly and last complete the last step on

http://iphone.unlock.no/

"No service"

i did everything and after unlocking and putting my tmobile sim in, i'm getting no service message. iTunes sees my phone number, but that's it. Help please.

Thanks

Stupid me - I had printed the instructions out so couldn't see the links.

Firmware 1.1.1

What happens when the new (and locked) firmware 1.1.1 comes out and you buy a new iPhone that needs to be upgraded to firmware 1.0.2?

Doesn't iTunes automatically download the newest firmware? Is there a way to upgrade to firmware 1.0.2 without going to iTunes?

AppTapp

It's telling me that "AppTapp Installer is now copying the required files to you iPhone" It suggests it takes 2 or 3 minutes.....mines been going about 20!!!

Any suggestions?

Now about 25 minutes....I've tried quiting it, to retry, but it won't quit.

i had the same problem. click the blue apple in the top left, force quit, and then force quit apptapp.

now that apptapp is closed, turn off the iphone by holding down the sleep button and fully turn it off by sliding to power off.

the installer MAY be on the home screen, if not try again by the same process. FYI apptapp never told me it was officially finished, but it somehow ended up on my home screen. good luck. after this step, it was smooth sailing the whole way.

oh yeah i just did my 2nd iphone for a friend worked perfect he had the wing with the internet addon and his edge wireless worked perfect only thing i need to find out if how to get the voice mail button to dial 123 i saw that hacint0sh had a way but i cant figure as stated above how to run minicom i found where the file is but cant do anything with it?

Finally! That took way too long (while there is a lot of info out there, there are plenty of little details that are missing in all the write-ups).

Here's my info:

Operating System: Windows Vista
iTunes: 7.4.1.2
Carrier: T-Mobile
Method: http://iphone.unlock.no/ (mostly, but with plenty of other reading)

This was a new out of box iPhone that was not activated with AT&T at any point. I've got the Total Internet package from T-Mobile for $19.99 (plus a phone line obviously).

I was able to successfully connect to the internet, send txt messages, use Google Maps, Set Weather, and make calls using the T-Mobile network (plus Edge). Wi-fi worked for the above as well.

Right now, it seems only one thing remains...YouTube. I'm hesitant on doing anything else and ruining what took way too long to complete (as well, the first YouTube fixit link I saw was for the Mac).

If you are aware of a YouTube fix on the PC side (using iBrickr), please post the link. If anyone who has a similar setup as mine and still having problems, post your question and I will try to assist.

So if i buy the iphone, unlock it as listed, Can I use an AT&T sim card WITHOUT data plan and only voice? I really want to use the iphone as a PDA + Phone + Ipod and i don't want to pay 80 dollars a month when i dont need to. I'm happy with just wifi. Is that possible?

HI I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE YOUTUBE. HERE IS THE LINK FOR THE

FILE TO FIX THE YOUTUBE PROBLEM. THIS IS FOR PC ONLY.

http://rapidshare.com/files/52087915/PACAY.rar.html. UNPACK THE FILE AND

CLICK ACTIVATION.BAT. THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. BUT MAKE SURE UR IPHONE

HAS JAILBREAK INSTALL AND MAKE SURE U HAVE THE 3 FILE INSTALL TOO BY

ORDER THE COMMUNITY SOURCES, BSD SUBSYSTEM,AND THE LAST PART

OPENSSH THAT SHOULD FIX THE YOUTUBE PROBLEM. BC I HAD THE SAME

PROBLEM TOO AND I FOLLOWED THOSE STEP AND THAT FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Ah! I just restarted my iPhone and it told me that there was an incorrect SIM installed. I re-did the iUnlock (twice) and I still get this message. Has anyone gotten a similar experience? What's the fix?

When I turned mine off again I had to re-unlock it, I don't know why. I am just gonna leave it in "sleep" mode for now.

I am really interested to see this new update, and how badly it messes with all of us. Imagine if they just didn't care and the update didnt effect us!

Ipod on Iphone not working

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else has the same problem as me, given that everything works on my iphone except the ipod feature after unlocking and activating it. Itunes won't let me add and edit songs to the iphone.
Can I fix this is there any other software that can add songs to my iphone.
Thank u

Heeeelp!!!!

Can anybody help me.
Unlock went OK, but after I put tmobile sim card, it gives me "no service". I unlocked it both ways and it still says the same "no service".
Does anybody else have this problem, and if so, what's the solution.

Thanks,
