NO SERVICE Message after unlocking

First post here...I've tried many different ways of unlocking today (manual...GUI) and they all "seem" to work. I can use WiFi, ipod, camera, bluetooth, etc...but whenever i put in my tmob sim card, or my girlfriends at t card it says searching for 5 seconds then says NO SERVICE in the upper left corner. I have read that other people are having this issue and wonder if anyone knows what i/we're doing wrong. I jailbroke it then had itunes update the firmware to 1.0.2 before doing the unlock. One thing that is fishy is when i do the AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000" thing i do get an error but when i do the next command i get an output of 0 so that should mean i am unlock. Thats about all the info i can think of. If anyone can help that would be amazing. Thank you very much.

As of now, the iPhone dev team has finally gotten a gui verison of there unlock ready, as TUAW has reported:

The iPhone Dev Team has released a simple-to-use GUI tool that allows you to unlock your iPhone for use with any SIM. The tool, which is based on their previous command-line work, provides one-touch speedy unlocking. This is a big improvement on the first generation release. It no longer requires you to use special files or to dump nor data.

TUAW has links to iPhone Team Blog, and to a pxl package.

Edit: I've also corrected a previous post mentioning that the new version of iUnlock, which I previously posted, was a GUI unlock, it was not...

The one question that interests me is if someone uses the unlock, gets onto their own GSM network, and don't have a data plan at all...then what? does it only work with WiFi? Does it work at all? what does it do to your monthly phone bill if you don't have a data plan?

this is very interesting to me (a Rogers user)

For any of the unlocks? Well this does depend on the carrier, but at least with AT&T with a regular phone with no data plan, if you use any data, you do get charged a fee per kilobyte. Tmobile (from some post either here or at Hackint0sh) does not allow data if you do not have a plan. It is possible to set the settings after the unlock under EDGE with an x under each form (its under settings if I recall). This would "disable" in a way EDGE data. At least this is what I've been reading :D.

Just finished unlocking my iPhone :) Took me a while to get everything figured out, but when someone posted a link to iPhone Dev Wiki here life got so much easier - all I had to do was use iBricker, and the anySim program and a few minutes later I was done.
I'm on Rogers here in Canada - and just lovin' the fact that I've got my iPhone working!

Just unlocked my IPhone, took me just under an hour.

Used the http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_1 method

Running on T-Mobile USA

Gotta remember to pay up to the Iphonedev team. amazing work. I did the entire procedure without a single hitch. Honestly, the hardest part was opening the sim card tray. Even YouTube works perfectly with their method. Obviously Visual Voicemail doesn't work but that's a given.

Will try to see if I can get the T-Zones thing going next week and will let you all know how that works out. My family is now planning on buying 2 more even though I'm cautiously telling them there's no guarantee I can replicate the same results. lol

kokanee, where did you buy your iPhone?

kokanee, where did you buy your iPhone?

Drove down to Lynnwood (just outside of Seattle) today to pick two of them up - one for me, one for a friend.

Hey, I'm moving to Sydney in February (I see you have Canada/Australia) as your locations - here's hoping we can use the phones there too!

WHat I noticed on the ipod for the phone was it isn't like a regular ipod where you can drag the songs on, you have to make a playlist for the songs and sync it. Thats what I have been doing.

Hello, Thank you so much Jayreason, your suggestion worked i.e syncinh the iphone with a playlist. Thank you Thank you, You rock.

help please!!

I cant find the bbupdater file, the link that i tried is not working, would you please post that file please please....

cool, i'd be using Rogers wireless
I recently purchased an iPhone to use on the Rogers network in Toronto. I will not be entering edge settings as I don't feel like getting effed by rogers data rates. 5cents per kb. It's ridiculous, but I'd be better off moneywise purchasing a citywide wifi plan for 30 dollars a month... from Toronto Hydro.

Did you find out how to enter the edge settings for rogers? Im wondering how to do it because I've unlocked my iPhone and can only surf on safari using my wifi connection.

Anytime, trust me I felt exactly like you when I went to add songs and couldn't! Then I asked someone who had an iphone and they explained to me that it was the only way to do it. :apple:

I'm in Canada on the Rogers network and loving my new unlocked iPhone.

Go into Settings>General>Network>Edge and enter the APN, Username and password for the Rogers Edge network to get edge enabled. Clear these fields and you'll get a message saying "Not subscribed to the Edge Network" if you try to do browse, email, etc. outside a WiFi zone, so in effect, you can "turn off" the Edge network.

If you don't have the edge settings, PM me and I'll pass them on (they're the same for everyone)

The final GUI unlock app is here!

Visual Voicemail? No effing way... Unless all that talk of it being a server-end service was BS...

I also bought a new iPhone and activated it on t-mobile. I also used the Youtube fix (http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3658) and it all worked on Wifi.

Only problem is that EDGE is not working. I checked the SIM card on another phone and it works. Whenever I access the EDGE settings screen, and I enter the APN (internet2.voicestream.com) the screen closes and I go back to the home screen i.e. I cannot save the EDGE settings. I also keep getting the "cannot activate EDGE" error message.

Anyone faced a similar situation ?

I did not put internet2.voicestream.com in for my APN. I used "wap.voicestream.com" with blank username/password

was it easy to unlock? How does it get onto your current SIM?

are you on Rogers? do you have a data plan?

All this unlocking talk is making me want to hop in the car and drive to Lynnwood too......

also, did you figure out if you saved any $$ with the CA dollar on the rise and the lesser tax?
