I got my iphone ulocked.....works with FIDO...!!!!

it took me two days to figure out how these things work but I finally got in two days ....geeh. I first had to use DVD Jon's SeverAcvtivation to get access to my non-activated iphone, then I use the http://iphone.unlock.no/ method to get the phone unlocked. Everything works fine with FIDO. Haven't tried it on Rogers but I will.

What settings are you using for Fido edge?

I see that lots of newbies are asking same question over and over again.
Here is the step by step instructions for people who has bran new ipod and running windows XP

Use this http://iphone.unlock.no/

Your iphone does not come with required firmware so when you connect your iphone and run ibricker it will tell you to update it.

Plug in the iPhone to your computer, first making sure iTunes is quit.
Connect your iPhone to the computer.
Press and hold the Sleep and Home button on your iPhone for about 25 seconds until it displays "Please connect to iTunes" and has a picture of a yellow triangle. It will appear to turn off and back on during those 25 seconds. Don't worry, this is normal.
Now, open up iTunes. You should see message says Itunes has detected iphone in recovery mode, hit OK and complete the necessary steps to restore and update the iphone. you will know when it is done.

A lot of the questions I got were the same. It seems that new iPhones out of the box won't give you the "yellow triangle" - mine didn't. My workaround (in Mac).

I used the older iNdependence to activate it anyways. Then I connected it to iTunes, and then it said to update to 1.0.2. Then it bombed out. Then I held down the sleep and home buttons and I finally got the "yellow triangle". I downloaded the newer iNdependence and re-activated it after iTunes updated the phone.

I don't know about the Windows users though...

Hi! I'm still wondering if I'm going with Fido or Rogers. I'm going with a pre paid plan and it seems that Fido is better but I want to know if there's functions that doesn't work on your phone? I know that on Rogers you pay 5 cents per page you load but is it the same thing with Fido? Thanks and enjoy your iphone!!!

Tested on Vala900 Kosovo

I used the GIU friendly version, it works also in Vala900 network. It is very simple procedure. Thank you guys!

Engadget is reporting a new version of the GUI unlock:
iUnlock Reloaded: free iPhone unlocking for dummies now available

Wake the kids, phone the neighbors, the graphical new version of the iPhone unlocking software is now out, official, automatic (or as much as it can be) and free. Developed by the iPhoneDev team, the new software makes opening up your iPhone to any GSM carrier simple as pie. According to the Dev Team, "This new version needs only be copied over to the phone and executed, it's full automatic. No more needs for fls or extract bin files out of the nordump. It should also cut the time down to max. 3-5 minutes."

http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/15/iunlock-reloaded-free-iphone-unlocking-for-dummies-now-availabl/

The links for the iUnlock Reloaded are on their post.

Edit: this new unlock also takes less time, around 2-5 minutes.

Edit again: this is not a GUI version, just an easier verison.

The push the button iCandy gui version is not yet released [because] of troubles [with] the new toolchain. Will be out in a few once toolchain is fixed up.

Can they post some directions? I read some comments that you still need files beside the zip to make it work. I m getting lost day by day. Afraid to open my iPhone.

So if someone has 1.02 firm, do they still need to jailbreak? If they are already on ATT does it require the jailbreak? I didnt think they do?

All help is appreciated.

i did everything and after unlocking and putting my tmobile sim in, i'm getting no service message. iTunes sees my phone number, but that's it. Help please.

On the iPhone Dev Wiki, there was a link to a guide on how to use the new unlock:

Issues with EDGE on T-Mobile

I also bought a new iPhone and activated it on t-mobile. I also used the Youtube fix (http://hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3658) and it all worked on Wifi.

Only problem is that EDGE is not working. I checked the SIM card on another phone and it works. Whenever I access the EDGE settings screen, and I enter the APN (internet2.voicestream.com) the screen closes and I go back to the home screen i.e. I cannot save the EDGE settings. I also keep getting the "cannot activate EDGE" error message.

Anyone faced a similar situation ?

Finally! That took way too long (while there is a lot of info out there, there are plenty of little details that are missing in all the write-ups).

Here's my info:

Operating System: Windows Vista
iTunes: 7.4.1.2
Carrier: T-Mobile
Method: http://iphone.unlock.no/ (mostly, but with plenty of other reading)

This was a new out of box iPhone that was not activated with AT&T at any point. I've got the Total Internet package from T-Mobile for $19.99 (plus a phone line obviously).

I was able to successfully connect to the internet, send txt messages, use Google Maps, Set Weather, and make calls using the T-Mobile network (plus Edge). Wi-fi worked for the above as well.

Right now, it seems only one thing remains...YouTube. I'm hesitant on doing anything else and ruining what took way too long to complete (as well, the first YouTube fixit link I saw was for the Mac).

If you are aware of a YouTube fix on the PC side (using iBrickr), please post the link. If anyone who has a similar setup as mine and still having problems, post your question and I will try to assist.

It appears that my iPhone will not accept the original, GUI iUnlock process. It works great immediately after a restore... after running it, I pop in my T-Mobile SIM and can make calls, texts, etc. no problem.

But it's as if the software gets completely reset when the phone is shut off. When I turn it back on, I get the message "incorrect SIM: Please connect to iTunes to reactivate iPhone." This has happened every time for the past 4 restore/activate/iUnlock cycles I've done.

Would someone please confirm for me that the iUnlock process works beyond a restart on your iPhone?

This sounds to me like a case of in-proper activation. Put in your SIM card that you are going to use then re-activate using iNdepedance (use 1.2.1).

I am having some trouble unlocking my iPhone. I am a PC user. I have the installer installed on my iphone and the 3apps needed. Could someone guide me from here? My aim is rmpagejr. I would really appreciate it.

Ipod on Iphone not working

Is it just me or is the ipod feature not working after unlocking the iphone. I can't transfer sons from itunes to the iphone after unlocking the iphone. What can I do to change this

I mean use a newer version of the tool.

It seems that anyone who has an iPhone not using AT&T, or living outside the US, has hacked it by now...
If you've got it working why the need for another tool? Ofcourse, if the firmware gets updated, you might need it, but not now.

Ah, well it is an improved version of iUnlock, which could be used if a unlock needs to be done again, like in the case of a restore. It is also for people who have not unlocked it, that would want a gui version of the app....

Your post is lacking information for other people to help you. Is it the first time to unlock you iPhone? What OS are you using? How did you activate it? What do you mean you can't transfer songs to the iPhone, is the sync button disabled?

I activated it using the simfree.app. (This is the 2nd time I activated to see if the ipod feature would work, but still no different). My T-mobile chip is working fine. I am on Windows. mY sync button is not disable, still I can't get songs onto my iphone. is there any reason why

I unlocked my second iphone today for tmobile! Total success. Once again, thanks to everyone on here for helping out each other, its really awesome to see.

WHat I noticed on the ipod for the phone was it isn't like a regular ipod where you can drag the songs on, you have to make a playlist for the songs and sync it. Thats what I have been doing.
