Long time lurker, first time poster.

Bought a 4GB at the Soho store today (FYI - they had a bunch more this afternoon) and successfully locked it when I got home using the modmyphone wiki.

Was running into errors initially but a little persistence and attention to detail and im a iphone tmobile user!

No way! I think you might be the first person to actually lock their iPhone!:p

EDIT: I'm an arse.

"No Service" after unlock?

So I found a couple of posts asking this question and have yet to see a response. After I supposedly unlock my iphone, (I say supposedly because every step of the unlock seems to be working according to iunlock wiki) However after installing the new sim (in my case from SK Wireless, south korea... although I notice people using other carriers are reporting similar problems) I get the "NO SERVICE" notice..

HELP?! :(

Thanks

First post here...I've tried many different ways of unlocking today (manual...GUI) and they all "seem" to work. I can use WiFi, ipod, camera, bluetooth, etc...but whenever i put in my tmob sim card, or my girlfriends at t card it says searching for 5 seconds then says NO SERVICE in the upper left corner. I have read that other people are having this issue and wonder if anyone knows what i/we're doing wrong. I jailbroke it then had itunes update the firmware to 1.0.2 before doing the unlock. One thing that is fishy is when i do the AT+CLCK="PN",0,"00000000" thing i do get an error but when i do the next command i get an output of 0 so that should mean i am unlock. Thats about all the info i can think of. If anyone can help that would be amazing. Thank you very much.

I am having the exact same issue. I actually did this process on my wife's phone successfully, however when going through this process a second time and getting the exact same results I also get "no service".

Is there anyway to reflash the baseband with the original firmware (with a pc, can't extract it from the apple update) to make it work as it did out of the box so I can truly retry?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but I do not think the iPhone will work in Korea or Japan. The frequency's are different. these are the only two countries that the iPhone will not work it. Follow this att link for international service.

Matt...

I am not sure (works only with GSM/GPRS) but I am in the US and have one iPhone working with T-Mobile and another with a "NO SERVICE" display only.

Confirmed working in Romania - Vodafone

Using http://modmyiphone.com/wiki/index.php/IPhone_unlock_OS_X_Part_1 I have managed to activate successfully 2 x 8Gb iPhone.

EDGE settings (work like a charm, 64kb/sec):

*note*
You need the new "smart" gsm sim in order to work.
Vodafone will provide you a new updated sim for free if you go to one of their local stores.
The old gsm sim (1998-2005) is not recognized by the iPhone.

was it easy to unlock? How does it get onto your current SIM?

are you on Rogers? do you have a data plan?

All this unlocking talk is making me want to hop in the car and drive to Lynnwood too......

also, did you figure out if you saved any $$ with the CA dollar on the rise and the lesser tax?

The unlocking part was frustrating - I tried a whole bunch of different methods to do it and eventually got it working the the iPhone Dev Wiki method. After it was unlocked it was as simple as putting my Rogers sim card into there - turning the phone back on.

Yes - I am on Rogers, but no data plan - it's a total rip off - something like $60 for 25MB! I just plan on using the Wifi feature when I can.

I don't know about if I saved any money - I did a little bit of shopping while down in Washington as well, so I made the drive down worthwhile. After everything, I shelled out about US$467 - $400 for the iPhone, $30 for the case, and $37 for the WA taxes. The only ****** thing about driving down to WA was I missed a great Saturday of NCAA football!

No Service Fix?

I am wondering if re-flashing the baseband with the original Apple Baseband and then retrying might work. I haven't been able to extract the baseband files from the apple 1.0.2 file, but I think if I had a Mac this might work:

http://smxy.org/iphone-apps/info/Unlock.html

Does anyone know how to do these same steps on a PC?

OR does anyone know how to recover from an iUnlock "no service" issue?

Thank you!

Disabling Edge on unlocked phone using GoPhone

I successfully unlocked my iphone on Friday. I am using an AT&T pick-your-plan GoPhone sim card with it because I did not want to sign a 2 year contract. It works great - only problem is I don't see the carrier option in the Settings so I can't change the edge settings. I want to disable edge so that I use only wifi. Anyone know if there is any workaround for this. When I put in a non-AT&T sim, the carrier option does appear in Network/Settings. Thanks!

youtube fix

I hacked youtube on my unlocked iphone to use it with wifi using
http://rapidshare.com/files/55289251/PACAY__by_brasuco_.rar.html

I did this hacked after I unlocked my iphone with iunlock and it worked great.

What do I do with the file?
Can you post the steps?
and post important my phone is unlocked I dont want to loose the songs, pics and the phone numbers on it. If I do this hack is it going to reset the phone? TIA

1) download file
2) unrar file
3) connect iphone
4) run activation.bat file
5) youtube fixed

I ran the file called (CLICK HERE) activate.bat after i already activated my iphone and it still working fine.

Yeah the activation.bat trick is real simple. Did my first windows unlock and had to use this method as I decided to go via the iphone.unlock.no route which apparently doesn't necessarily guarantee a working YouTube (which is what i had when i used the mac modmyiphone method). Thanks to the Brazilian hero who wrote the script!

Success in Digitel Venezuela
