The fact that Verzion is changing more for Exchange access and that you can not be on the phone and search the web is reason enough, I can only imagine what else VZ has in store.

The fact that Verzion is changing more for Exchange access ...
I'd be a little wary of signing on to verizon at the moment.
Looks like they're bumping the ETF on some phones (probably including the droid) to 350

like i said, verizon's data plan policy for the droid is no different than at&t's for the iphone. if you are a regular consumer the $30 data plan is fine with exchange. for business accounts, you need the $45 plan. same as the iphone. tech "journalists" these days dont even bother to do any research.

A lot of people use Slingplayer on Verizon. Lots more intense than web surfing.
Do they even have an Exchange plan for smartphones any more? Got a link to one? (Not the one for laptops with broadband connect cards.) They used to have one if you needed them to provide an ActiveSync server.
Google Sync (which is ActiveSync) works just fine on the $30 plan, btw.
I went to Best Buy yesterday and pre-ordered the DROID. I'll be using it alongside my iPhone 3GS for 29 days starting on Friday and I'll be happy to post some impressions if anyone at all cares.![]()
Best Buy taking care of the rebate is awesome, as is the 30 day return policy that cell phone carriers have.I went to Best Buy yesterday and pre-ordered the DROID. You still get 30 days to cancel your contract with no ETF, so what's to be wary about?I'd be a little wary of signing on to verizon at the moment.

I am getting rid of my 3GS for the droid. Not just because of the phone but mainly because ATT sucks. So now that Verizon has an actual half decent device. I think the sacrifice is worth it for the better network. I have my droid pre ordered at Best Buy

I'm waiting for the reviews of the Droid to come out. I switched from Sprint to AT&T as soon as the 3gs was released and have been ok with the crappy service so far because I like the phone so much, but that happiness is starting to diminish quickly. If the Droid does well, I should be able to sell my 3gs and it should cover my ETF with AT&T and cover the price of whatever phone I should buy.
There's several reviews for the Droid that are already out. Here's just a few:

Just a wild idea.
Why not order a dup sim card (they allow this for in-car phones) which you can use on both android and iphone.
Not simultaneously though (did i spell that right?)...
I know, but I meant real world reviews after it is distributed to the general public for a couple weeks or so.
I don't think CDMA phones (Verizon) use sim cards; traditionally that's why CDMA phones aren't hot targets for thieves.
Whether it's an Apple product or not, "early adopters" typically "pay the price" for the rest of the consumers sitting on the fence. So, if you don't NEED a new phone tomorrow or through the holidays . . . doesn't it make sense to watch what happens?
