I like it but can't use it one handed, impossible, and in a car this is a huge problem. If there was a way to disable the swipe it would be great. Otherwise it's a nice phone.

The only complaint that I have about the iPhone X is Face ID. Unlike with Touch ID, I can't check my notifications when the phone is lying flat and I frequently run into issues with it unlocking when it's mounted in my car or on the lightning dock on my desk. If they could have somehow fit the TouchID sensor into the phone it would be a 10/10 for me.
I do think that touch ID has greatly improved since the iPhone 6 Plus, so I'm not sure if you've tried it with any model iPhone models since then.
The Touch ID on my 6+ was pretty spotty, so I ended up not using it. The Touch ID on my 2017 MBP is spotty, too. It used to work fine, but now it doesn't seem to work at all. I've tried deleting and re-doing my fingerprints, but no joy. I've been washing a LOT of dishes this holiday season, so maybe that had an effect. I knew a nurse once who had no fingerprints at all because of how often she had to wash her hands. It was odd looking... fingers with smooth skin and no prints. It wasn't a genetic defect, either.I agree, it improved noticeably from 6 plus to 7 plus. My FaceID isn't working all that great on my X, but it's acceptable.
I like my iPhone X more than I expectedbecause:
- face-ID works great and more and more apps support it
- it surprised me how fast I got used to the new gestures
- large screen in a relative compact housing
- everything runs very smooth
Only been semi using it for two days so far. Not putting it to “real” use till I decide if I’m keeping it.
OLED - looks amazing, gives me a bit of a headache. More colour shift than I was expecting when changing phone angle. (Green / red ish when on white). Least problem free iPhone display I’ve had in years.

Observations: there’s an interesting diagonal effect observable with a camera in slo-mo mode pointed at the iPhone X’s screen when its on its lowest brightness level. You can see a diagonal wave.
Its great! I still wish it was just a hair wider. I am 10000000% sold on True Tone now. I hated it in the beginning but forced myself to use it and am so glad I did.
The gamechanger is the battery life.
Face ID is great and more convenient but it's not that much better than Touch ID was. The OLED screen, I can't even tell the difference to be honest. Operations are fast and responsive and that's good but it was expected.
What was a shocker is the battery life. Where I used to charge my iPhone 6 to 100% at 7AM and come home with about 30% left at 7PM, I now come home with my battery at 91%. It's crazy how much better it is. And that's why I'd never go back to a lesser iPhone. The X is cray cray with the battery.
Hate Face ID
it's too heavy
did I mention I hate Face ID
battery life is amazing
Best phone ever.
There are some imperfections, but that’s to be expected. Many apps still haven’t been updated, and the full screen video cuts off too much for my purist mind to handle. So it’s letterboxes 16:9, which sometimes feel small.
The only bad thing, I wish the screen was bigger, although the physical size is just about perfect.
FaceID has made me hate TouchID.
exactly the reasons I didn't buy the x.I like it but can't use it one handed, impossible, and in a car this is a huge problem. If there was a way to disable the swipe it would be great. Otherwise it's a nice phone.
