The speakers and sound quality. Truly horrific on the X. It’s loud but there is no depth to the sound and it cracks at higher than 80% volume.
There’s no need for glitchy unreliable Touch ID in a product that is constantly being unlocked when you have Face ID.
I don’t mind Touch ID in my MacBook Pro at all. It’s reliable and my hands are clean when I use my laptop. My fingers might not be so clean when I use my phone. Touch ID failed 30% of the time on my previous iPhone. Face ID doesn’t failed more than 1% in my experience.

Right handed people hold the phone in their left hand???
I’m right handed and I hold it in my right hand cause I’m right handed.

They could put the battery % inside the battery icon. The 'ears' are too small to accommodate that along with the other information that Apple chose to put there...
It’s certainly a step down from the 8+. The X sound is just less spacious and deep. It’s also more shrill at higher volume levels.
I noticed this as well. Animoji s make the phone really hot.Mine's getting hot. Too hot really. It heated up when I was doing Animojis. Particularly around middle back and in and around the camera lens.
Another gripe:
- The seam around the camera bump is a total dirt and lint magnet. In just one day of use it's full of lint. I am wearing pants that I have washed several times, and I don't see lint in the pockets.
Yes, sometimes when I pickup the phone I wonder why Face ID isn’t working only to find out the phone is Upside down.Oh I thought of another "complaint": without a home button, it sometimes takes a moment to figure out which way is up when I pick up the phone.
The more I use it, the more i see that much of X is a hack job: the notch, the workaround to view the battery percentage, the chopping off of letter in the predictive typing suggestions. Tons more. I'll list more tomorrow, after a good night's sleep. It's incredible that any kind of criticism of Apple or its products on this site results in so many people posting the same old, "Nothing's perfect". "Take it back". "You obviously are a troll".
Really simple: this is a forum and this is a valid topic for discussion. Because I dislike things about the X doesn't mean I hate the entire device or that I don't like anything about it. As I stated in my original post, I said I do like things about it.
And this also isn't just about being a consumer. It's about assessing the decisions a company makes about design, features, etc.
As I keep using the X, it's coming off weird: it's like a sliced up Plus in its implementation.
- Rounded Screen corners. This is jarring in some respects. Content struggles to make sense in areas with such rounded corners. So scrolling lists, for example, isn't clean looking: some content is cut off until it's above the curve.

How does reachability work? Double tap still on the home "bar"?
You got to admit hardware wise it’s a grand slam. Best speakers on a smart phone. The notch I’ve gotten use too. But with the super premium hardware there seems to be something lacking software wise. The software doesn’t coincide with the premium hardware. Hard to explain. But updates eventually should fix it.

Face Id doesn't work when the phone is laying flat on desk and it's at a steep angle from your face. For example, when I'm sitting on my desk at work the phone is to the right of my keyboard. If I tap the screen, face id can't unlock due to the angle.
After playing with one and checking it out I have to totally disagree. Grand Slam? Not at all. It was the what I perceived as physical shortcomings that convinced me to skip the X and stick with my 7+. Opinions differ for sure.

I don’t know about you guys, but the screen coating on my X seems a bit “dry” compared to my wife’s 8 Plus.
Swiping on the (physical) screen of the 8 Plus feels more slick than on my X.
It’s not much of a difference but it feels like my fingers “stick” a bit more on my X when swiping.
Does anyone else notice?
Returned mine today and back to my 7 Plus. Could not justify spending almost $1500 (phone+AppleCare+case) for a smaller screen. If apple brings the X Plus I will be the first to order.
