That's why I thought it was odd I didn't see any Androids. I also didn't expect to see 2 other X's either. I forgot the lady who was using an iPad with KB attached.
I’m surprised you saw two iPhone Plus models in an Audi service centre when your mate here claims only teenagers who can’t afford TV’s in their bedrooms buy that phone. Are you sure iPhones X’s that had been stretched?

LOL.. I am sure they were Plus's... I really didn't expect to see 2 other X's and was surprised I didn't notice any Androids. This was in LA area (Audi Valencia) though so maybe that matters..

I don’t think it matters. I think what you’ve said here just proves what we already know and that is no particular demographic has exclusivity on a particular phone model. Ive only seen one iPhone X in over two months but then again I don’t get the impression it’s as big in Europe as it is in the states.

Oh I think location does matter.. In LA you'll find a very vain population that competes and keeps up with the Joneses.. I am certainly not one of them as I only have a lowly A3 and would be instantly snubbed by them but it's a real thing in some parts.

I don't blame boltjames for living his life that way. If it's what he wants to do, and what he says is true about his possessions, then good for him! He could tone it down a bit but he does make some valid points. His points get lost in the other drivel though..

It’s true, i just love this phone!
Won’t need an upgrade this year for sure. I love how buttery smooth everything is, also the camera and battery life are just amazing!

Upgrading this year only if the next X has better antenna and/or more RAM, both rumored.

Not, however, planning to go plus-sized again for a while if ever, so hope those two features are not reserved for plus-sized model.

Samsung Note 8 (N) vs iPhone X (X)

Screen and display: N
Software: Draw (D)
Battery: N
Speed and performance: D
Filing system: N
Customisation: N
Camera: D but nod to X due to 60FPS
Multitasking: N
Headphone jack: N
Speakers: X
Biometrics security: X
Features: N by a country mile
Apps: X

Final score:

N: 7
X: 4
D: 2

The X is not the best phone ever made. The N trumps it. All you need to do is youtube a 100 videos about the N v X and see for yourself. I doubt the X is even the best iPhone ever made. Is a science grad in 2018 a better scientist that Einstein just because the grad has access to current information and methods?

The X is garbage.

From an unbiased iphone user.

That is all.

Software draw?? That’s nuts. The touchwiz hi is one of the worst. Use it for a few months and it’s dog slow afterwards no matter what the specs are.

Apple likely will reserve additional ram for the iPhone 6.5 X Plus, enhanced camera upgrades and display enhancements. They need to give the consumer a reason why they would want to spend additional money on a larger, more expensive iPhone.

That’s worlds away from people like me in Europe. Sure we get posers and braggers but I’ve not encountered anything quite like him. I also think a lot of it is made up due to many of the inconsistencies. I don’t think we need that sort of attitude here on MR as it just gets people’s backs up. We are here to talk about the iPhone, a product that connects us all regardless of which walk of life we are from. The constant snobby comments and superiority complex displayed here masks any good points which is why if there been any, they’ve been missed.

Like yourself I have an modest income and an A3 league sort of car, but I’m not here to compete as I don’t need to. My social circles contain nice people and I intend to keep it that way.

Sigh, so true that, so sad me.
Please don’t dash my hopes for the antenna. ;)

iPhone X while it’s the best iPhone yet needs to see some refinement and polishing both in the hardware and iOS 11. after the new iPhone comes out you’ll understand

I had the same feeling for a couple of days. iOS 11 and the notch however just ruin it for me. Nothing has ever or will ever top the experience I had with the iPhone 4. From watching the now classic Steve Jobs keynote having me completely sold, to the anticipation before and after pre ordering, to the excitement of seeing the mail man delivering it down my drive way, to then opening it for the first time. Holding its gorgeous stainless steel glass chassis, feeling so premium in my hand, and then turning it on and seeing that retina display for the first time which just blew me away. There was no other phone with a design and display of that high of quality, and that was over 7 years ago. That new phone feeling didn't wear off for months. The entire time I had it I had a smile on my face. I kept staring at my phones lock screen just in amazement at the retina display, proudly showing it off to my family. Oh, and iOS 4 wasn't a complete mess like iOS 11 is, it was far more polished and I didn't question it at all. Not once did I feel like returning that phone or feel like I wasted my money, I had no feeling of regret like I had with my now returned X.

To borrow a word from Steve, it was truly magical.

Hey guys!
I already have all apple everything except my cell phone! I used to have only Blackberries but since last year I've switched to Samsung. It is an S7. I bought it because of its good camera. However, my cell is broken (big crack front and backside) and it's time for a new one. I was first thinking about getting an iPhone 8 but then I found this thread.

So, you guys are still recommending the iPhone x?

My best suggestion to you if you’re considering iPhone 8 and iPhone X, is have hands-on with both iPhones at a retailer or Apple store, find out what you like about both phones with form factor, do you prefer touch ID or Face ID, those are all things I would try to experience before you make your purchase. Otherwise, the iPhone X is a great phone, but I also Think iPhone 8 is a great device and still retains touch ID.

But I'm talking overall. And ios didn't exactly get rave reviews.

iOS is still some of the most stable, secure software available. Granted it’s not perfect and it does have its downfalls with iOS 11, but I don’t think that’s enough for others to abandon iOS just because of that. Android has its own share of issues as well.

I was one of those that were against losing home button, the notch and Face ID.

After five days with my X, I felt inclined to start a membership here to talk about it.

Now after being an owner, The notch was over blown by me. I find it not that disturbing as I thought I would at all. I forget it’s there already.

It wasn’t until I fell in love with Face ID functionality and the ease of use in correlation to my daily phone use that I realized the importance of the notch. If shrinking the notch messes with the the ease in functionality, then I would be against it now. It truly changed how i felt beforehand.

Passsword protected Apps opening up with one tap is something I wouldn’t like going back to having to finger print scan rather than just hold the phone.

Apple Pay is so easy and effortless with two clicks on side button which reads my face instantly and asks me to put my phone to the reader, the finger print seems dated to me now.

So the estigmas I mentioned are really a non issue and things I found to be over blown by people who don’t like change or haven’t bought or used the phone.

We recently found out the S9 can be tricked by a 2D photo. OMG, Not so secure. So the notch may be serving an amazing function because it actually works intergrated right where it is with it’s dot matrix and facial recognition camera along side the photo camera.

I won’t even bring up the notch knock offs by other manufacturers. Perhaps a nessesary evil.

No other phone company changed the way we look at phones in such a positive way than Apple. They still are leading innovators IMO and why I stuck with iPhone when I was sooooooo tempted to buy an S9 and did a lot of homework before deciding.

I agree 100%. The only thing I have a problem with coming from a plus phone is the screen is a little smaller especially in some of the apps that I use. Also, typing text message is not as easy on a smaller phone, but I dictate them anyway. However, I adore the size of the phone overall and Face recognition is awesome. Especially when it can add your password with one look!
Never was bothered by the notch at all. This is my favorite phone. Hated finger print recognition that always had to be reset.

I love the Face ID as well. I’ve had his phone for about 2 weeks and I had to put in my password only a few times when I restarted the phone. It never failed. Apple Pay and store verification works every time. It’s one of the best innovation for sure.
Since I left Apple 5 years ago I always thought other mobile OSs are equally good and Apple is no longer the best. But after bb10 and Windows are finished, I felt coming back to iPhone X is a good move for me. Now I feel Apple has done something different that others will follow . So far I’m loving this phone (which is amazing to me as I was switching android phones every month looking for the one I like)

Thanks for that suggestion and advice. I'll take a closer look at an Apple store. I was also thinking about asking a staff their for advice but sometimes I just feel like they want you to spend more money^^

It's certainly the best phone I've ever owned and I've had various flagships over the years.

Doesn’t mean notch is not bad. It obstructs the view, at least for me, which is all that matters. AirPods is great right? I still return it after a week because sound quality is awful.

You love the notch and I hate the notch. Life will continue nevertheless.
The notch provides extra information one could say through its horns. I rather like the airpods despite poor sound quality through their convenience so I kept them (I have many other BT phones which sound better but aren't as convenient to use).

Out of my 8 and my X, I prefer the X but only slightly; both are great.

The notch prevents iPhone from providing more information. There should not be a notch in the top. Hide some sensors under the screen. That might do.

And regarding AirPods one, seems that you rate functionality more than sound quality. That’s fine.

Unfortunately they don't have the technology yet to hide those sensors but it will come in time. Regarding the Airpods, they're fine for listening to outside on a busy road, or for listening to a podcast and I would say they are just about worth their money for their convenience, but for sound quality I have a nice set of Sennheiser PCX-550s.
