Both Touchid and FaceID work well for some and not for others.

The introduction of TouchId brought with it substantial functionality, FaceID atm only exists because the home button needed to be removed to make way for more screen space, it brings very little that’s new to the party.

Face ID is faster than Touch ID and works effortlessly, its as if your phone has no security on it at all.

It's something I thought I'd hate but turns out to be the greatest feature on the iPhone X. Security without interference. Imagine a door knob that never needs setting and only allows you in every time you try. Imagine a cup of juice appearing on your breakfast table just by thinking about it. That's what Face ID is like.

Does Face ID work effortlessly? For the most part, yes. Doesn't work flawlessly? No. I do think Face ID has a very strong start and a very strong future ahead of it, and not just in the iPhone lineup. But touch ID started off similarly, which it did have its authentication issues, but refined nicely over the years as Apple made matured the technology.

In my experience I am getting 2-3 Face ID fails a week (in bed) whereas I was getting 2-3 Touch ID fails in a week (wet fingers). So perhaps I should have said Face ID works just as well as Touch ID and Touch ID had a 4 year head start but to me it is "flawless" because I don't expect either technology to work 100% of the time considering the variables involved.

I can say I get same amount of failures from TouchID, can't comment on FaceID.

I have to say the Touch ID on my iPhone rarely fails either. It’s certainly not an annoyance or an issue. It’s just an alternative method for achieving the same task which is equally as reliable. Apple marketeers do very well convincing people when it comes to alternatives.
