If you are comparing side by side while looking very CLOSELY to the screen, yes you can, otherwise you can't.

Not really, you can see even from a distance the difference in quality

Even looking at the iPhone 8 without any other device around you can see how poor the screen looks

There should be no 720p screens on any premium flagships in 2018

Then you have better eyes than me because I can't tell the difference between pixels.
I'm curious to know if you said the same thing when the iPhone 5 was out agaisn't the S4 1080P screen.

Doesn't work landscape, doesn't work with some angles, and doesn't work (for me) when I first wake up for the day. FaceID is great and fast enough, when it works. For me, that's about 85% of the time. Sometimes I'm starting right at it indoors and it doesn't work. It's definitely a gen 1 product and will improve over time.

I'm sorry but there is a noticeable difference side by side screen wise between LCD and OLED. Don't think it's that close really. The brightness is clear.

I don’t think the oled screen is really solving any specific user “problems” tbh which to makes it just an upsell type feature and not really needed. It’s brighter and sharper when you place it next to a non oled screen but it’s not like the 8(+) was anywhere near a horrible experience in the first place.

If it meant saving a couple hundred dollars to go with an lcd screen and losing the tap to turn on functionality I’d definitely go with the lcd option.

Serious question, is the 8, non Plus, really considered a premium flagship phone for Apple? I know the Plus version is for sure. I fee like 8 customers are aware of what they’re not going to get by going with a non Plus model which includes a higher res screen and better camera.

I personally could never go back to LCD after using the OLED on the iphone x. Thats just me though

Least with the 8 plus thats a 1080P screen. Not as bad as the iphone 8. Even to me that was noticeable.

I would call the 8 a premium phone but not necessarily a flagship device. Its well made and offers the same chip as the flagship and the voice quality is better than the 6s it replaced. Top of the line it's not but still a very nice phone. You would be correct in thinking that I knew what I was buying and was aware of the features it didn't have at time of purchase.

So for you it’s a personal preference but really an LCD screen isn’t stopping you from using your iPhone X in the same exact way you are now right?

I think Apple likes to believe that their logic is they don’t have a flagship device, and any iPhone technically is considered to be whatever the consumer wants it to be. Apple definitely spends the most marketing on the iPhone X, but I still think iPhone it will be incredibly popular for the remainder of this year and even next year in their lineup, just because it will likely be discounted for a device that still retains touch ID and has some of the latest specifications.

How else would you compare if not side by side? Looking closely is not required
You can pick up an iPhone 8 without holding a X or a Plus and say "Wow the screen is so blurry"
Or you can compare both side by side and say "From the 3 devices the 8 screen looks more blurry"

iPhone 7/8+ display looks blurry compared to a X?
Looking at my Wife's 7+ and although I can notice a difference, a blurry 7+ screen is not one of them.
Its not a blurry thing for me. Its just the X has more detail which gives it better clarity.
