I was gifted an X in early September last year... but it's hard for me to know at this stage. On the one hand, i live in a fairly sunny place so the camera improvements already in the XS like Smart HDR would be very welcome, whatever the additional improvements in the next model are. I currently have my home country's phone sim in an iphone 6 to receive SMS messages etc. from home (banks and the like) and given ios 13 isn't supported I'd like a phone with dual sim capability so that I don't need 2 anymore (i'm in China, which limits my options to XR and XS Max at the moment, and I assume the 2019 phones will mirror this).

On the flip side, the phone has seen less than 10 months of use and battery health is 99%. It may be worth sticking it out another year.

I have a 512GB XS Max and I planning to buy the iPhone 11 when it comes out. I just like to have the latest and greatest and I am sure that the camera improvements alone will be worth it.

Yes. I skipped this year’s upgrade and am planning on upgrading in September. Love my X but am ready for something new.

If they increase the base models storage to 128gb I'm probably in.

I would also add if they increase the storage model to 128 for the base, then hopefully that doesn’t increase the price point As well, because that won’t help the current situation with the iPhone pricing as it is.

Looks as though 2020 is the big year to upgrade with 5G supposedly coming
Unless Apple comes up with an underscreen Touch ID it doesn’t seem worthwhile to upgrade for me

Nah. How many times has Apple said that face ID is their future, not just for the iPhone, but now for other products, which the Mac is slated next to face ID in all likeliness. There’s zero reason Apple needs to offer touch ID under the display, not when face ID is superior with security.

Rumour is its coming in 2020

You mean, the same rumor that’s been predicted by Barclays that has zero credibility (See link below). That’s also the same analyst that predicted an SE2 would launch in 2019, which is not happening. You have to pick and choose what seems reliable in terms of a credible source, and that rumor seems completely bogus. I’ll believe it when I start seeing hardware leaks.

I think it’s still possible as apple have seen in on other devices and the rumour of full screen while seems impossible would kind of blow the comp out the water if it ever happened

Should be right around the end of May 2020. ;)

I'm an iPhone X owner but i'm not going to upgrade. Don't see much differences except the camera and a faster processor which you don't notice, while using your phone. When Apple decides to drop Face-ID in favour of a full bezelles phone without a notch I'm going to buy it. But now no.

After touting that with iOS 13 apps are now smaller, good luck with that.

But yes 128GB should be base but apple are greedy and people keep buying them , so looks like 64GB will remain.

It all depends on design for me.
Since the S9 I believe Samsung has made the best looking phones.
I think the S10's pearl white back with a long camera section up top looks gorgeous. It's been a while since I thought an Apple phone looked gorgeous.
I thought the Apple watch looks gorgeous which is why I stuck with an iPhone X last generation.

64 GB is still plenty sufficient likely for the average consumer, 128 GB would be a nice entry level, but doesn’t mean Apple won’t charge more for a premium for it. That’s how they initiate Control, is they realize they have a ‘foothold’ on the storage requirements, The reality is, if you want more storage, then you’re going to have to pay for it one way or the other.

I’m not sure. I normally upgrade each year, but the X has been such a great phone that I haven’t seriously considered upgrading. I have 3 lines with upgrades available and have been waiting to see what’s going to be released. My daughter needs a new phone. She will probably get my wife’s 7 plus and my wife will get my X. I have been considering the Max, but not excited about the price.

I will probably upgrade the X 64GB I have to the new XI Max 256GB. I want to wait because the update isn't significant, but I really want a bigger screen. I'll probably delay upgrading the XI Max afterwards for a couple years.
