Yikes! That certainly lays it out there. Can you do the same thing with different wallpapers? Like plain white and plain black?
I only have the screenshots generously posted by @Kate0088. Plain black seems equal at first look. Let's wait for someone with iOS11 that could post the plain white one.

Dedicated with love to all the posters that are seeing their iPhones same as before after the update:View attachment 784111

iOS 12 on right.
iOS 12 looks better. The left screen just looks so dull. It pops up objects even more and the dark to light is visually more pleasing. Just look within the apps for example. If this was really an issue the hundreds of thousands who beta tested would have made the same noise and this would have been listed as a bug but no it’s not because it’s visually better this way

It is not visually better when it isn't more thoroughly planned out so that certain text colors don't get lost on certain backgrounds. Tell me in all honesty that you can easily see the light blue "Other" and orange "Productivity" text. If you say that you can you are not being honest, because anyone that knows anything about color combinations knows that you can't lay those colors on top of each other. That's slop.

R the differences just in transparency and text or the actual color/contrast rendering of wallpapers and picture quality?

Are you freaking serious? LOL!

Look at the blue "Other" and the orange "Productivity" text over the gray. It is almost totally illegible. Then look at the red stock lines. LMAO!

Oh, and you need to learn how to better use the forum and stop quoting yourself. It makes it very difficult to respond.

I can read it clearly. It’s an adjustment in contrast which makes objects pop up more but I can read it. I don’t consider this a bug though

You need some education on color usage then my friend. It isn't a "bug" per se. It was really bad design implementation.

Looks to be transparency only which people are frothing their mouths over
Tell me you can clearly read the green stock line here. A person should be able to use any wallpaper they wish and still have all things be fully legible. Bear in mind that this is an Apple included wallpaper. They have to fix this!

Yes , clearly curves upwards flattens, slides down a bit than edges a smidgen upwards .

It is a poor design decision imo it doesn’t seem as legible to me either. They’ll probably tweak it

BUT

I’m relieved the literal contrast of the screen for icons wallpapers browsing video etc etc sounds like is unchanged.

Some people were describing it like the calibration of the entire panel is back to zero. That would infer everything changed

I am fine with that too. Just means Apple has less to tweak and that this should be a relatively easy fix. They just need to work on the transparency thing with certain text colors. For instance the orange and light blue text over the dark gray background just isn't going to cut it.

Initially I thought that the color of the entire screen was toned up. I still see the icons popping out more but I think that is consequence of how the wallpaper is now rendered.

I don't know if it's just me seeing things but this was my experience yesterday. I decided to make the jump and did a clean installation of iOS 12. The screen looked fine after I did the upgrade. But something wasn't working quite right so I did a restore of my previous backup, still couldn't sort things out, so I restored again to my post-iOS 12 backup. This time I noticed that the screen looked kinda washed out. So I did another clean install and started over again and this time it looked fine. But then again, it could just be my eyes playing tricks on me.

iPhone plus 8 user, have the same problem here with the colours first thing I noticed, backgrounds looks to be bright an the icon pops out more
