I buy devices based on how much I use them. My phone is actually a secondary device, I want a new iPad Pro so my old iPhone 6S Plus will do for now. One good thing, the X is so expensive my husband won't blink seeing the new iPad :)

Not sure, I'm hoping to use a discount at work but while I like the OLED display and from what I've read a better camera, FaceID and the extra cost are making me wonder if I should just get the 8 plus instead or see if my network will heavily discount an older phone.

Purchasing it. The Notch doesn't bother me. The OLED display will be a nice upgrade as well. After having three years of the same iPhone physical design, I think these new changes are more in line of what I have been looking for.

There's no option for "not changing phones this year". Obviously in a year or two when I might be looking to upgrade the current X won't be my pick anymore.

What new things can I do with the iphone X that I can't do using my current 6S+ ?

I'm not talking about the way it operates, so forget face ID and wirless charging, they are just different ways of doing the same thing.

What does the X allow me to do that I can't already do with the 6S+ ?

1. use and send active emojis

2. .......er..........

I'll be sticking with my current phone.

Not a chance I'll be spending that much money on a phone. I can afford it but it's ludicrous amount.

Not a chance at that price. There's no standout feature that makes it worth it and doesn't even look that great with the notch. Notice they were careful with the background, disguised it. Plus faceid whilst there's some clever technology is step back from touch id.

I will try to get it on T-mobile JOD when it's easily avalible, just out of curiosity.

But buying outright or putting it on my Apple upgrade program .... Hell No!!!

I'll most likely put the 2018 version on my Apple upgrade program, as long as the design improved enough, and there's a plus model.

No.
  • It's far too expensive for a phone.
  • There is no headphone jack.
  • I like the edge-to-edge screen, but the curves and proportions make it look like an iPod from ten years ago. The 6 and 7 looked cooler imo.
As always the tech specs look great, but you'll prize my headphone jack from my cold dead hands.

The last smartphone that looked like it was worth the money was the OnePlus 3T, and even they've made all the wrong decisions for the 5. Is it so hard to just have a nice-looking slab of aluminium with decent battery life and fast software?

Could you expand on that a bit?

There's nothing innovative on that Qi charge. It's been around for years. It's really not a wireless charge because device needs to be on the charging surface. Touching the surface. It should be called a Touch Charge.

In my opinion it should be a wireless transmitter to a certain distance to be called a wireless charge. This is certainly not one. Instead of being tangled to a cable you are tangled to a small surface which is even more inconvenient.

How about charging and doing something simultaniously with that Qi thing? This Qi only creates a new kind of problems in user experience.

I'm hesitating. The specs are quite tantalizing IMHO. Also, I'm not so happy with the photo capabilities of my 6S Plus. I was looking forward to upgrading to a better and lighter device. The 6S Plus is heavy. The 8S Plus is even heavier... so it's either the X or nothing for a while. There's also the storage issue, I have a 128 GB device which is perfect for me.

Maybe in a couple of years.... unless I can't resist :)

Nope!

It is break through alright. It will break through your wallet and drain it for a device that will be obsolete within a year. If apple keeps the cost trend up on their phones, I may find myself buying into Andriod again.
