Loving all the "no" replies, the iPhone X pre-order should be smooth sailing

Ha! yeah right... All of those "NO" replies and complainers will be the first ones logging in on the 27th to pre-order.. happens every year.... take note of the screen names saying no and how horrible the iPhone X is... you will see those same screen names posting "waiting for UPS to deliver my iphone X", "Tracking my order", "waiting in line at Apple Store".... on the 3rd.

And the total lack of a fingerprint sensor is a no-go. Face ID not a good solution. It's overly complicated. Unless Apple also introduced features like Google's smart lock (IE will not lock when connected to the home wifi etc.) then I couldn't live with Face ID.

yes, it's so complicated to look at the screen..... ;)

No. I waited and the iPhone 7+ was not what I wanted. I waited again and again Apple disappointed me with their design choices. My next upgrade will not be an iPhone.

A little surprised that you won't be buying the new phone.

Granted, the price for the 256gb version is a little high, but it is a "redesign" of sorts.

It just comes down to personal prefernce. From the 6 on, the iPhone has not been particularly an attractive design for me. That includes the new phones.

And the X is a lot of money to pay for something I'm not attracted to.

Perhaps the ears on the new display are a turn-off?

I hope they go away on the 2018 iPhone.

Probably not. I was all set but that price:eek:. €1329 for the 256 gb is just obnoxious. Don't like the notch, the camerabump on the back, the fact that it isn't waterproof, the lack of minijack and touch id. Too many things I don't like to spend €1329. I would splash that amount if the phone was revolutionary, but it's not. Just cathing up with the competition. Probably going to wait for next year. I guess by then the lower end models finally will be redesigned and have an oled screen aswell.
I love everything Apple but I'm really starting to dislike the company's greed, it's getting obscene. I'm all for profit and Apple products never were cheap, but they took it to a whole new level this time around:(.

I put no because of the lack of touch id. If the FaceID works without it being held right in front of the face I might change my mind. There are times I activate my phone away from my face, for ex. looking or sending a text quickly.

Luckily, I'm not one of those people that HAVE to have something as soon as it comes out. I'll wait for the reviews. I just have a feeling there are gonna be a lot of updates coming Between Nov and Jan due to bugs and issues with FaceID.

Also, I have a 7+ that I have yet to take a pic using portrait mode, I've only used the little special iMessage features ONCE. So if I bought one, it wouldn't be doing anything different than I would with my current. While I do miss wireless charging and already have a pad that should work with it, I'll wait.

I wonder if the fast wireless charger by Samsung will work with new iPhones? That's what I use with my Note 5.

Not getting the X. That was my gut feeling last night when I watched the keynote and it's still my feeling now having read more about the new lineup.

I currently have a 7 Plus in silver and there's nothing about the new lineup making me want to purchase so i'll be hanging on. I really, honestly, did not expect to be so underwhelmed given that the majority of the details had been leaked. But seeing the X in the flesh, I just plain don't like the design. It's also overpriced - the phone I have now was/still is overpriced, but not the extent that I couldn't justify it to myself. With the X I just can't shift the mental images of better things I could do with the money - and this is from somebody who puts £500 a month into savings. It's not even worth two months' savings to me. And in part, that's down to the sheer audacity of the pricing.

I'll see how things pan out next year. Specifically, how Apple will justify continuing to charge almost double the prices of some very worthy rival Android phones once OLED and facial recognition are the iPhone norms.

Yes. It has everything I miss from my current 6 without having to get a Plus. The Plus line is too big, I never got used to it. The X has everything the Plus has that I want, minus the huge footprint (handprint?). The two things I'm really looking forward to are the bigger screen and the camera.

I'm not so sure about FaceID though, but hey, I'll give it a chance. I suppose we'll get used to it.

Now to navigate T-Mobile JoD rules and pricing. I should be able to get my employer to pay part of the thing as long as TMo doesn't force me to switch to their One plan.

I'll get a 64Gb. Jury's still out on the color. Silver would be nice since it has a black front, but it looked more white than silver in the pics.

No it's alright you lot can help get all the bugs you always get with Apple refreshed devices worked out and the rest of will get the XS models next year.

The answer.. no. I knew after WWDC I wasn't buying any Apple device products in 2017. They are all minor changes, easily can wait till next year or the year after. IOS just hasn't caught up to hardware. Until Apple gets serious about software development again, I see no reason to purchase new devices. All my developed apps run on everything so I can coast for a long time.

I'm buying it. Why?

It's very cool (obviously). At first I was really concerned about Touch ID (the notch apparently is not so bad according to reviews). But I can work around it. If it's a fail, so what?. It's certainly worth a try. If I was really strapped for cash I might be more nervous. I'm just going by reviews, and they aren't coming from fanboys. Makes sense Apple made this.

There's a bit of drama with this, no? :D The Keynote wasn't the drama. That starts now.

I love this stuff :)

I will be buying as well. I know it's expensive, but according to my calculations, it's only ~$20 or so more per month on AT&T Next than my current 7+. Pretty much a no-brainer.

New design which is super awesome. I like screen real estate. FaceID seems like it'll be really, really cool. I think it'll be faster when they refine the technology for next year's release, but the core functions seem really intuitive and downright fun. Those Animojis, even if you don't like emojis, are pretty freakin' cool. This is the first legit redesign in 3+ years. I'm excited. 256 GB Space Grey X, come my way. Sucks it's not for another 6-7 weeks, if I'm lucky to get one on launch day, but I can wait.

The X is a "minor change"?

And what software would you like to see on a cell phone that would catch up to the hardware?

You send a text without looking at the screen (Siri or Google Assist dont count)?

Ex. sitting at dinner, phone buzzes while sitting. I'm usually the phone in my lap under the table, glance to see what the text is. With FaceID, I don't see that happening unless I take the phone from under the table and look directly at it or hold it in a way that it has to see my entire face.

When you glance to look it will unlock. It does not need to be held in front of your face.

My wife and I have the iPhone 6s and I could easily go for an iPhone 8 Plus. I'd like my wife to have the dual cameras but the iPhone X is too much and the iPhone 8 Plus is too big for her. I'll likely hold off for another year. I'm curious as to what they'll name next years phones... iPhone 8s and iPhone Xs ?

are you sure? I didn't see that example shown. Every video or pic has them looking directly down at their phone while standing or sitting still. No mention of if it will work while in motion or anything either.

I posted a picture in my last reply
