So is it that apps need to be updated for the Max screen? In the verge review he said XS and Max display the same amount of content just slightly larger
Yeah apps need updating.

They will show a lot more data when they are updated.

Nilay uses an iPhone X as his main phone though so

So do others that are paid to shill for other brands....until they are exposed by the “sent for iPhone” tag.

They all prefer iPhones even if it pains them to admit it.

Appreciate the early insights, but do others note certain reviewers taking joy in poking fun at the iPhones? & it's not from an independent viewpoint - it's like an intentional mocking to satisfy their prominent anti-Apple market? MKBHD for eg. I have plenty of respect for him, but he could be a bit more professional when it comes to stating flaws in iPhones imo.

One thing I listen for in reviews are a product's negative aspects, but it's like watching the news - you don't want a bias/emotional slant on the reporting, just give it to me straight.

I still thought his unboxing was good for the most part.

I found it funny that after reviewing and so many glass backed phones, that he singled out the iPhone X’s max as a scratch magnet.

Wonder who is footing his bill, Samsung, one plus, or Huawei?

It’s not google, he dropped them as soon as the checks stopped.

None of these "reviews" are really surprising anymore. Usual stuff - obviously the phone is going to be better (faster, new cameras, some new options).

What I don't get is every year the media trying to figure out why you should upgrade from the previous year's iPhone. They seem to totally miss the point. Apple isn't forcing anyone or telling them to upgrade. If anything recently they're talking about how much longevity an iPhone has.

Year over year iPhone upgrades have always felt relatively incremental. But as soon as you start making 2 or 3 year jumps then they feel quite significant. Really can't expect anything different.

Of course you would think anyone who criticizes Apple is paid off lol

Do you guys save the unboxing until you go look at them at the Apple store? I know i do! Subconsciously, I know that I can return the phone for sure. I know I have 14 days to return it but I think still better to not open it and do a short demo at the store.

If the criticism is merited, have at it.

If they single out the iPhone for criticism, such as a glass back that is prone to scratches, but never mentioned it on the plethora of other glass backed android phones that they recently reviewed... then damn straight that is bias.

You think that’s unbiased?

It’s not like they were caught red handed, or wait they were:

So yes that’s why I said they were paid shills.

But you already know that.

The verge came off as incredibly bias.

Nilay looked upset that he had to review the xs max over the pixel 3.

Don’t really take his reviews at face value.
Yeah, I didn’t like his review in particular. He also seemed to note this year’s X upgrade as being just “last year’s phone” which it essentially is, but made it seem like this was Apple’s first S upgrade, and not the cycle were used to.

Guy is a joke, apple needs to wise up and blacklist him, so he can fade away into obscurity.

Does anybody remember last years iPhone X review, where he went out of his way to make Face ID look like it doesn’t work?

It seems like he has an axe to grind.
Wonder why? /s

The biggest tool the Verge has.

Honestly the Verge is going down the drain and has been for a while. I've been looking for a new outlet for a while.
[doublepost=1537279677][/doublepost]Lastly, anyone know how iJustine has the leather Xs Max Electric Blue case?? It's not on Apple's website!! It's the one case I wanted.

Someone provide cliffs for those of us at work who can't be watching stupid videos right now: is faceID better in any real measurable way?

Happened ever since he became the editor and chief, I removed the verge from my RSS feed.

I would love an electric blue iPhone X’s max case.
Do you have the link or a pic to share of the electric blue case on the iPhone xs.

SMH. When did he say the glass back scratched easily? I am sure he was referring to the stainless steel which DOES scratch easily. But you will say anything to fit your agenda.

In the Verge’s video, the new Face ID was noticeably faster. Perhaps just a split second or two, but they did have a nice side by side comparison and it is very easy to see how it has improved.

iPhone reviews are all the same. Here, let me give you the basic template.

- best iPhone ever
- price will be too much for many
- best performance on the market
- discuss whatever this year’s flashy new gimmick is
- discuss the one annoying thing that many people won’t like, and acknowledge that it is annoying, but say that it’s not a deal breaker (eg. Loss of headphone jack, or the notch)
- Bottom line: if you have last year’s model you don’t need to upgrade. If you have an older model you should.
So true.

“Apple stole my kids name” the verge review... lol
Stopped after that, was cringy up to that point.

That was marque brown

Except he wasn’t.
I was referring to MKBHD. Since he was referring to the glass back show me the quote that said he was or the timestamp of the video. I'll wait.

Go look at the video, just before he removes the plastic from the glass back of the iPhone X’s max.

You can watch the video yourself.

"and we can take a second to admire it, as clean and scratch free as it will ever be in its life..." how is that bias? That's true for all phones but because he basically says if you use a new iphone it will get scratches makes him bias...ohhhhkaaay.

He’s good but he’s an android user so even he’s not subjective.

Having a preference does not mean you can't judge a device on its own merits. You don't have to become a fanboy just because you prefer a particular vendor.

Anyone who has used both iOS and Android for a long time can find a number of pros and cons from each operating system and the devices running them. I went from iOS to Android around iPhone 4S and now that Apple has finally ditched the awful iPhone 6/7/8 design I'm going back to iPhone XS because Apple finally makes a device that works for me.

There is no plastic film over the dlc coated stainless Steel frame.

Have you had a dlc Coated Apple Watch or iPhone?
They don’t scratch easily.

That is true for all phones, except he never mentioned it an any of his other reviews.

Hence bias.

It the same with some pixel users whom derided the notch only to welcome it the one Plus or pixel3.

Sound familiar?

He uses his phones without a case. It can have all the dlc coat it wants, it's going to scratch easily without a case, especially stainless steel.

Show me which pixel users have welcome the notch on the pixel 3. They have on the imminent one plus 6 because it's super small.
I was a pixel XL user and I hate the Pixel 3xl design if the leaks are true. Funny thing is I can be critical of things I like. You on the other hand can't.
