I would like the iPod Classic to have a flash drive, instead of hard drive, because although I want a lot of space, I don't like the idea of walking around with a Hard Drive in my pocket.

It would be cool if the classic took a form factor similar to the old square nano. It would look like a tiny classic, and 64gb of flash might possibly fit in something that small

It hasn't been a problem for the last 10 years.

64GB is not big enough.

We want more, not less.

I really hope that they don't discontinue the Classic. I don't need a touchscreen iPod that plays games and movies. I just want an iPod that just plays music.

If they do overhaul the Classic I'd like to see it look more like the Zune (blasphemy, I know) but there's one thing I'd like to take from the Zune (or the Touch/iPhone interfaces for that matter): the larger album art display.

This would also work out for the people who watch videos on the Classic.

Apple makes the only large capacity player that's still in production (I'm not counting those Archos monstrosities). Why would they drop them? Even if it's only a sliver of their sales it's still a sliver that no one else can touch.

Right. And I don't see it as a problem for the next ten or until something with great capacity and inexpensive price comes along to replace the HDD.

Thanks! Please continue making sense. There's no reason for the iPod Classic to go from 160GB to 64GB when I am filling up my 160GB with just the stuff I prefer to have with me let alone all of it.

Wow, my old thread.

I'd like to see the Classic updated, because even with only 12 GB of music, it's my favorite by far. It's the chunky, slab-sided iPod that feels great in your hand. The size and weight is perfect.

But on the other hand, I have ZERO reason to upgrade beyond wanting the best, so in that respect I wouldn't be disappointed if Apple discontinued it while I got the best model, so I wouldn't have to upgrade again unnecessarily.

That said, I don't actually hope they discontinue it...I hope it lives on, but it won't last past September this year I'm afraid. Would love to get a 220 gig version out of it before it kicks the bucket though, all other things the same.

then maybe the thing you need is an external hard disk

For me 64GB is merely enough since I get to chance what I have stored from time to time.

Are they going to update or kill it next week? It's getting pretty hard to find an ipod classic at a B&M store other than the Apple store as of late.

^ I think iPods are usually announced at Apple Music Events. I hope they release this September a 2011 Classic. I mean, let it at least reach a 10-year status. Like someone said earlier, I need a device to just play music, feel great in hand, large capacity and with a proper battery life.
