I did not slide to power off at step 3. Now my Touch is stuck at the Apple logo /w spinning wheel screen. What to do?

I already tried to reboot with holding the sleepwake + home button. But that didn't work.

Man its tough work going through so many pages of thread.

I hacked my touch on Mac and its all fine and dandy.

I wanted to ask, should my pod be able to sync in windows post mod?
When i plug it into my mac, itunes reads it in a heart beat, but in windows I get no love but i could've sworn that after i hacked it, it still worked on windows.

Any ideas?

**EDIT**
Hmm seems to be working now... Il llet it be for now.

sorry for the stupid question (again look at my rating) but where is the 'slide to power off function?

"Slide to Power Off. Make sure to use Slide to Power Off from here on out"

someone should really change the first post to tell them to restart after the jailbreak...All last night it wasnt working...

Now that i know what the problem is, ill try when i get home from work

Thanks guys, and keep this awesome thread going :):):)

Yeah, I realized after I restored that I didn't reboot the iPod after copying over the modified OS, and that's what caused the issues.

I love Chatty, btw. I have shirts from Clumpie's Ice Cream.

same here, i'm in cyberducky now and i'm renaming the media folder etc.

it takes a bit eh?

Do you get a notification in terminal after you put back the OS onto the touch?

I wait for a bit but nothing happens, but then when I restart my iPod in terminal it says something about the files couldn't be copied over.

How long should I wait?

Help!

Help!

For some reason, when I try to SSH into my iPod via terminal (already installed SSH on it from independence....I get the message

"Protocol Major Versions Differ: 1 vs. 2"

What on earth do I do?

I've tried restarting terminal and the iPod.

This is great, thanks! I had a couple of issues while installing Installer.app.

After connecting to SSH, typing in chmod -R a+x /Applications/* and /Applications/Installer.app/Installer does nothing at all.

When you said "Using SFTP, copy Installer.app to the Applications folder located under the root folder." should Installer.app be in root/Applications/? This folder didn't exist so I had to create it.

Of course, because the above didn't work, when I went to http://conceitedsoftware.com/iphone/beta/ on my ipod touch, I got an error message "Safari can't download this file".

Do you have any idea why this is happening?

Thanks!

If you move into the folder "Media_sym" I believe it will take you to root.

I've gone thru step 1 to 3 now 5 times. each time I get to Launch Independence and restart the touch with the slide, it just won't restart. It sits on the apple logo and freezes.. Only option I have is to restore and try again.

I've followed the instructions to the letter. It just won't happen. Any help?

I did notice that when I GetFile, i see the bytes remaining till its finished, but when I putFile, I see nothing at all. Just comes back to the iphuc prompts. So I've assumed that means its finished.

Independence seems to thing its initially connected and the touch is jailbroke, but the restart won't restart the touch..

Any thoughts at all?

Alright, so I was leaving out the "root" of ssh -1 root 192.168.1.123

However, now all I get is a:

"ssh: root: No Address associated with nodename"

According to independence, my SSH installation worked fine.

on OSX 10.4.9 with all updates installed.

That -1 should be -l (That's an L, not I or 1, needs to be lowercase though).

Hehe... I had that same exact thing happen to me... I thought I was losing my mind... I finally just copy and pasted the text right from the webpage and it worked so I was happy.
