yah im doing that, going through restore now, i will try to jailbreak when it becomes easier xD

how long do i have to hold it until those icons show up?

i'm stuck at the apple, but i keep on holding but nothing shows up

update

never mind i finally got it. **** this, i'm waiting for the GUI

I would like to thank ebel for all of you help. I got it working. It looks so much nicer having apps filling the menu.

Help me please

Ok, I'm all the way to the part where your supposed to type "ssh -l root your. ipods.ip.address" into the terminal. I looked for the ip address under my wifi settings, replaced it in the above line. When I run this command in terminal though it says
(iPHUC) /: ssh -l root 10.0.2.2
shell: No such command 'ssh'

The independence app seemed to work correctly, and I restarted my ipod a third time after independence was finished.
Any help would be great

Close terminal, re-open it and try again.

Not supposed to use iphuc for the ssh bit.... i think

Good luck :)

Correct. While in iPHUC you are in a completely different tool. What you will want to do is open another terminal window or type exit to leave iPHUC.

Thanks

Thanks bro that was the problem. I thought about trying that but I wasn't sure if I'd mess up iphuc by disconnecting. I'm never really done this kind of thing before.

Sweetness

OK I got everything up and running from the guide, now how do you install the iPhone apps

i am stop at "getfile /dev/rdisk0s1 iphonefs/rdisk0s1 314572800"

it show (iPHUC) /: getfile /dev/rdisk0s1 iphonefs/rdisk0s1 314572800
getfile: Failed to open remote file: 8

don't know what happen

Connect to ipt with SSH

I've already jailbroken my ipod touch, but I can't seem to make an ssh connection in Cyberduck again. I was going to do this to copy over the iphone apps to the Applications folder. Any help would be great.

Hmmmmmm..... interesting....

Are you definately using SFTP, not FTP? (drop down menu in the window that opens when you choose 'new connection')

Yep

Yeah, I am. I tried restarting Cyberduck and I tried Fetch too. The command line "ssh -l root" followed by my IP address no longer asks for a password either, it just returns a blank line as if its working, but nothing happens. Should I try to run independence again, or will that screw stuff up.

hey guys i really need some help. i downloaded everything, put the opt folder in my hd, did the iphuc steps throught were i replace the file in the etc folder, then when i try to exicute the last comand, after i hit enter, it takes a few secs then i just the iphuc command thing, no conformation or anything, so when i go to independace, and i hit the button in ssh tab, i get an error that is cant communicate with it then something where ect file. any ideas. i dont remember the full detials becuase i got frustated. i restored 3 times and nothing, also the dev team link is dead now. any help thanks guys

mmmm. . . . i got to the ssh part then it went to a apple logo, it looks like it tried to load the OS but like there is nothing there.

I tried holding down the 2 buttons to restart it turns off then shows the apple logo again then nothing . . . did i just mess my touch up?

Thanks

Ok, noob questions.

Just bought my touch tonight. Ready to use it at work tomorrow.

Now, My .dmg file that comes out of iPHUC does NOT match yours.
You said we get a file called Snowbird3A109a.UserBundle.

That is NOT what I got. Mine is called Snowbird3A110a.N45Bundle

Now I follow the same process as you suggested, but when I'm using INdependence, trying to install the SSH, it just hangs and says it's waiting for an iphone to connect. I've restored twice now.

How long does the SSH install take? When you say I have to restart twice during that, will INdependence tell me to do that or does it automatically do it?

Thanks.

my mounted image is just like yours, what happens when you try to put the dmg back to the touch?

when i tried independace, i just get an error saying cant read or something like that

When I put the os back on the touch, iPHUC just gives me a new terminal line after I enter in the upload cmd. INdpendence will see my touch at that point, but when I start the install for SSH, it asks me to restart, I do, then it will give me an apple sign on my touch and a progress wheel in front of the apple, it will restart itself and hang on the apple at that point.

I'm wondering if the difference in .dmg files is messing up my hack. Anyone smarter then me have an idea?

@YoYoMac

I've reinstalled the dmg file 8 times with the same problem like yours?!
I started to see more people having the same problem!!

When I'm jailbreaking, As i open rdisk0s1.dmg It creates Snowbird3A110a.N45Bundle

In the tutorial, it says I should be getting Snowbird3A109a.UserBundle

:(

Further, once that's done, I enter it into iPhuc and see

Reading 4096 bytes, 12288 bytes remain
Reading 4096 bytes, 8192 bytes remain
Reading 4096 bytes, 4096 bytes remain
Reading 4096 bytes, 0 bytes remain
(iPHUC) /: putfile iphonefs/rdisk0s1.dmg /dev/rdisk0s1
(iPHUC) /:

Is it done? What have I done wrong?

wow, i am in the same boat at you, but i cant even get indepandace to access it

Similar thing happened to me 1st time i tried.

Restore your ipod completely and start again. Sorry

To restore, connect your ipod to computer and hold down sleep and home for about 15secs, when you open itunes it will say it has detected an ipod in recovery mode.... restore from itunes and go again, following all instructions carefully.

Good luck!

And don't worry, you CAN restore your ipod...boy did i have some tense tense moments during the process!
