I received a 6G version back for my 1G

Well I was really suprised this morning when I opened up the box for my replaced nano... I had read that they we sending back 1st gen nano so thats what I was expecting, they sent me back a 6th gen nano though.. I sent in a 4gb model and received the 8gb model so I'm pretty happy! I didn't use my nano at all really since I got an iPhone two years ago so i probably won't use this that much either but hey its free so whatever!

LOL WTF!!! I sent my ipod nano almost idk over a montho ago (sent right after i saw the recall)

Today out of surprise, it came and i opened and it was the new ipod nano with 8gb!!! 8 GB!!! lololololol. I was soooo surprised, I thought we were getting the old ones back? I sent in an old 1gb black ipod nano and gets this lol sooo happy.

Reason why I'm happy though is because I'll likely sell this thing to get a cowon j3 since it can play flac. However, if this new nano can run rockbox and play flac let me know guys and i might keep it even thought the sound chip isn't as good as the cowon (wolfstein).

I'll post pic soon but the above few post, it was the same packaging :)

Now this is probabaly the first time I've ever been happy with Apple. I'm an Android user and fan of it but +1 to Apple for this!

Thank you!

P.S. I'm from Canada and I don't think I should really post pic unless people want me to as it's same as everyone else's packaging.

Have I mentioned here how much I hate UPS? Their tracking said it would be delivered today. Great, I'm home all day to sign for it. Then an hour later they change it to say tomorrow. Fine, whatever. Then a few hours later again I see them drive away and sure enough there is a first notice delivery sticker on the door. Didn't try knocking or using the doorbell. Probably just ran in with the sticker already written up. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt but every single thing UPS has delivered to me at this address has been the same. I actually saw them try it once. I watched the truck stop on the street and the guy came to the house with the sticker and no package. He obviously never had any intention of delivering it but took back the sticker and went back for the package when I opened the door. What's up? Do they get paid for 'attempted' deliveries? Are they hoping for me to pre-sign so they can just claim they dropped it off next time? Or are they just lazy? Not that getting my iPod a day earlier will save the world, but WTF? I can't be the only UPS customer getting messed with.

Yes, I've seen this too. They don't even knock. Aren't they supposed to... actually attempt delivery?

One time I waited all day for my package - looked out the window and saw the delivery van starting leave my driveway (no knock at the door or anything). I ran down the driveway and the driver saw me, but kept going. There was an "attempted delivery" notice on the garage side door (not front door) saying I had 5 days to pick up my parcel at their distribution centre. The place was 35km away and they were only open Monday to Friday. I had to take a day off work and make a 70km round trip to get my damn parcel. Nice service.

Email from Apple this morning - my replacement shipped yesterday and is currently in Edinburgh and should arrive today......

Serial number shows a 6th Generation - hopefully the UK replacements are on their way now...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I'm over the moon with mine and can see a real use for it despite owning an iPhone. It's sheer size is just comical.

I can understand folk being gutted if they used their 1st gen all the time, but like a lot of people on here my 1st gen nano had been gathering dust in a draw for years. Space being the major issue for me and the form factor not being of any benefit over the iPhone

8gb of storage is a real jump from my 2gb 1st gen and other bonus's such as the fact it can use the click controls on my iPhone headphones and it works perfectly in my Bose sound dock make is a very cool late Christmas present from apple.

I loved my 1st gen back in the day, but a replacement would have probably gone back in the draw to gather dust again. Thanks apple :)

Received a 6th Gen in the UK

I've just taken delivery of a 6th Gen nano here in the UK. The serial i was sent yesterday had indicated it might be, but i was skeptical.

UPS "attempted" delivery yesterday, but as others have noted... attempted seems to mean taking a good look at your door then sticking an info notice on. I had called them immediately with this notice, but it was "unregistered". oh well, cant complain, i have now got my free upgrade, and it was free delivery! :D

just to provide another uk data point:
request: nov 17
service: nov 17
return: dec 28

6th gen silver 8 gig. thanks for the christmas present apple!

Email from Apple in Australia

I live in Melbourne, Australia

I posted my nano in on 13 November. It was received by Apple and set as product replacement pending on 26 November. I received the email today stating that my replacement nano was sent yesterday by Australia Post (with tracking). I checked the serial number and it is a 6th Gen silver ipod nano, current service coverage ends December 27 2012.

HTH :D

In the UK here, requested replacement on the 21/12/11, box shipped on 21/12, got the box 23/12, sent iPod off 23/12. Sooo hoping I get a 6th Gen.

Now received 29/12/11 and 'Product replacement pending' - Anyone have an idea how long this usually takes?

Another silver 6g iPod received in the uk. Email this morning and delivered before 12 as stated. :)

Pending since 21 November; I don't think they are necessarily doing these in sequence of when they were received. But, I don't really care as it seems the ball is moving outside North America as well. My turn will come!
