I downloaded it from their website as well. Did you do the trial mode?
No trial, just launched it and immediately after that (with the first launch wizard still on screen) I went to the menu: 1Password > buy...

Maybe the option will turn up AFTER the trial ends? Right now, I do not see it as an option. I did try signing out and back in.
The trial they are offering is for their cloud account so it makes sense to allow you to only renew that kind of account. Not many people would stop the trial and then buy the other option.

I think your only option here is to completely uninstall 1Password with something like the free AppCleaner and then simply re-download and install it again but this time do what I did and go to the menu after you launched it. Or you could indeed purchase it from the Mac App Store.

@itguy06: yeah, I think Agilebits needs to be very careful of Enpass, it seems to be their main competitor which does everything they are now stopping.

Get OneSafe. Used it for five years. NO subscriptions, works perfect via iCloud. iCloud could be hacked bu so can almost everything.

Fast support, great user interface and not expensive.
You can get 1Password for free on iOS and it does the basics (passwords) just fine. You don't have to sync it to anything and keep all your passwords local, or it can sync with iCloud with no issues (or Dropbox, file share, and wifi sync if you want).

Even if iCloud or Dropbox got hacked, the vault itself is encrypted, and a person would need your master password to get any info.

Personally I paid $10 (for the pro version 3-4 years ago) for the app and I don't regret anything. Whenever I needed help, they had no issues and very patient with me.

I tried Onesafe before 1Password and I felt like a 2 year old designed it.

Yeah - 1PW was good and I felt good about supporting an indie developer even though the price was high. And I would have continued to support them but I'm tired of nickle and diming of subscription services. And then the fact that they are not supporting non subscription users left a BAD taste in my mouth.

Who said they aren't supporting non subscription users? I'm a non subscription user and I still get updates on 1Password, and still get help from them.

Never used it, but heard great things about it. The only thing that worries me is not being able to remember my password say I need to log in on a public computer of something of the sort.

Great App. For me, I use it for everything meaning not just computer needs.

I never really compared it to anything else, but it sure works for me.

I also wrote down the master password and left it with instructions in our safety deposit box at the bank.....just in case.
Told my wife that everything she needs to know, is in there.

Sounds morbid, but will ease a ton of stress for her if anything happens to me.

Let's hope nothing does for a long, long time :)

On the Mac side yes but on the Windows side their new client (1P6) is missing most of the features useful for those not on a subscription (local vaults, Dropbox/1drive syncing). Their answer is to use 1PW4. Really?

They also used to offer the standalone as an option - it's barely mentioned on the website (I couldn't find it) and I imagine it's only a matter of time that a new version does away with the alternative sync methods (IIRC they did that before with WiFi sync but brought it back.).

I voted with my wallet as I'm tired of subscription and really don't want all my passwords in a central store on the Internet. Enpass is 99% there - functionally equivalent, just needs some polish. And the price is 100x better than another annual fee...

It's OK but Lastpass does a more reliable job at filling. Might not look as nice but it does its job better.

Reliable job at filling? I've tried LastPass before I went to 1Password and I saw zero difference at the filling of the info. Even iCloud Keychain showed no difference.

My wife just got 1Password for her work computer (windows) and it downloaded 4, but it upgraded it automatically. I never paid attention to it, but she has more than 1 vault and uses Dropbox for syncing. I remember I downloaded it, it looked like an older version, and it updated and looks similar to the Mac one.

Why would they push the old ways? The only people who care are us who still use the stand alone ones. If I was in their shoes, I would also push the one that makes more money. The stand alone stuff works for me, it's still updated, and I'm happy. If it changes I'll think about it then, but I'm not just going to jump to an app I know nothing about.

I've had 1PW on Mac & iOS since both were standalone products. My Pro features are grandfathered in. I don't pay for any of their subscription services. I still get all the same updates. Works perfectly across my multiple devices. They still sell single licenses if you don't want to pay the subscription fee. It's been 1000% worth it for me.

Maybe they recently updated things? On Feb 16 they were still saying 1PW6 for Windows is not feature complete:
https://discussions.agilebits.com/d...e-items-already-does-for-1password-com-vaults
On Feb 12 they basically say you're SOL if you want perpetual licenses with 1PW on Windows:

At some point the OS will upgrade or a certificate will expire (like just happened with them and PDF Pen) and they will not upgrade it and you will be SOL. I'd rather get out from a company that is more geared towards milking its customers rather than making a great product. Enpass isn't perfect but it's basically a clone of 1PW and works really well.

I put this on her computer weeks ago and she can edit, add, and it's linked up to Dropbox.... so not sure what's going on.

And they fixed it. They have said many times that the stand alone license are not going anywhere. You think they are going to alienate all these people and lie? Ok.

Me either - but that was straight from the horse's mouth.

Why would they care? They have your and mine's money. There is no guarantee we will pay for updates so they have no incentive to keep those old methods around for a declining revenue stream.

We'll see but the fact that they have all but stopped selling perpetual licenses is a telling sign.

It's an incredible piece of software. I've used it for a number of years on my iPhone/Windows devices. I honestly can't imagine not having it.

I agree. iCloud Keychain isn't always reliable, so it is nice to have a backup. Plus 1Password also stores app passwords, bank account info, and software licenses. iCloud Keychain doesn't.

Any software can have a glitch and any service can have an outage, but it was unfortunate that 1Password just had a major one over this past weekend, which they blogged about today. I like that they published the details.

I like the fact they were open about the issue and didn't attempt a cover up of dodging of the issue. Very refreshing. I experienced the issue and the fix took me about a minute to resolve - download the new file from the link on their website and reinstall. I was back up and running in no time :)

They have not stopped selling the licenses

And where is that linked from their homepage? There is no Store option when you go to either the agile bits webpage or the 1password site. Clicking on Pricing gives you subscription only options.
I've said before, this is the new model. Of course they will push the new stuff over the old stuff. I would too if I was them.

New customers will most likely get the new model. Now the company has steady money coming in. I get this. I don't like the subscription either, and why I didn't jump on board. They said many, many, many times that they are not dropping support for the licenses, but they never said it would be easier to get it still, did they? You already have (had) it, why do you need it again? You obviously been on their forums and you can see in the forums that they aren't hiding the license ones at all. The also could have charged us for the last update, but they didn't. They could have charged us to push us more towards the subscription, but they didn't.

Maybe in time my mind will change, and I will get the new subscription model. They been around for many years and to me that's a lot.

I have it. I never compared it to anything else so I don't know if I'm being over charged for its features, but I like to have it just for peace of mind. :)

I use it daily on both my Mac and iPhone, synced through DropBox, and really hasn't let me down. Browser plugins for Safari and Chrome make it very easy to switch between the two. On the iPhone, the Touch ID authentication method is very convenient, and the convenient search makes it real easy to look things up when you cannot remember something. I haven't compared it to anything else recently, but have no reason to look, as it generally works. I bought a license a few years ago - completely worth it.

I've been using it for years. I don't use the cloud version. I have the by-out version (before they had the rental kind). I use the password generator and make up very complicated passwords. I never have a problem with traveling. It's nice to be free of passwords. I have it on all my devices. I do NOT use cloud/dropbox.

The only negative comment is has they grow, support has gotten worse. I emailed them several times and have gotten NO response. NOT GOOD.

I reached out to to support and it took several days to get a canned response. Not something that I'd want to deal with, especially if I was paying monthly for the software.

Use their bug report/support forum instead of their email. The forum is very active with staff there every day.
