As others have already said, the mini was just Apple making the event Mac only, like it was last year. And it was a great event for Mac lovers. I expect this year to be something similar and that is a good thing.

Is an Apple Event Still Likely This October Following Today's Surprise iPad Mini 7 Announcement?

With it being the 17th and the rumor of a final week of October event with a November 1st release. That means the show would be next week and it would have been announced already, and you would be able to set a reminder on YouTube already. So no event, it's either press release or bust at this point.

Normally i'd say that's crazy, but since i remembered that there's a rumor of a Apple x Sony partnership there could be some truth to this.
A. Apple has been focused on gaming since the M3 w/ Ray Tracing.
B. Sony is preparing for the launch of the mid-refresh console on Nov 7th.
C. M4 Pro/M4 Max [Alongside M3 Pro/M3 Max] could power heavyweight playstation titles.
= D. Apple Event in November w/ Playstation partner.
There is press release, little video and event... It was little video... iPad mini didn't had a video... sad
They normally have a one week before event announcement, if they are having a PR event for hands on etc. attached to the video presentation.
And I should add, they have done no advance warning video presentations, along with PR before too.
They should use Ai & VFX to make Steve Jobs presents the event.

Unfortunately from what I heard from industrial rumors, there will NOT be any Apple Event this October or next month, because of presidential election.
Apple believes that having an event now is too much of distraction to what is believed to be an important election since 2020.
They plan on releasing everything via press release, even though they actually already filmed part of the segments for the fall event.
(I just finally watched September Apple event and catching up on Apple news after avoiding it for three months so apologies for weird reply post here)
See the last part of my original post. I’m now caught up though, and yes, Apple cancelled the event because of the polarizing presidential election and they did not want to bring distraction.
They made the right call because I think no one wanted an Apple event after election night.
Most likely in March for the iPhone SE, new entry level iPad with Apple Intelligence, potentially new Apple TV and HomePod with Apple Intelligence, and the Mac Studio/Mac Pro.
