Apple having or not having an event isn't something to get so worked up about. If they do, that's great. If they don't, no worries.

Life goes on.
I agree and it is simply a result of Cook's lack of innovation. There is not any reason to get excited about Apple news any more. Apple news is simply more of the same, price increase, spec bump, and more bugs.

The MacBook event already happen ... by a Russian YouTuber :)
In all seriousness. This is most likely the reason. There is zero reason to have an event [even if one was filmed]. 100% of the information regarding the M4 Mac is public. [Granited the iPad Pro M4 already show off the M4, but the Mac version has some extra OOMF]

If it wasn't for the leak we would have an event. Apple Intelligence launches next week. Macbook Pros get announced this week in press-release.

There is no way they announce the M4 Pro, M4 Max, and redesigned Mac mini via press release. I know lots of folks think the iPad mini press release was reactionary after the M4 MBP leak, but I'd be surprised if that was actually the case. They likely had this waiting in the wings for months; these things don't get created, reviewed, and approved for release in a matter of a week or 2.

Apple did a press release for the M2 Pro/M2 Max. This year will be no different.

Ah, yes... the old trope that Apple/Cook doesn't innovate anymore. A real crowd pleaser here that goes back years.

Apple's just bumbling along, having no idea what they're doing. But somehow managing to being one of the most successful tech companies in the world, causing their 1 Billion active (and repeat) customers to come back purchasing Apple products year after year after year.

The real knee-slapper and funny thing is... those that keep repeating that trope (after all these years), can't seem to wake up and purchase superior competitor tech products that will make them happy, apparently being under Cook's spell, and lacking agency in their lives. That lack of personal agency is what's really sad.

Name one company that actually "innovates" year after year.

- Gaming laptops are spec bumps every year [new year, new nvidia GPU]
- game consoles are spec bumps every 4 years
- smartphones are spec bumps
- TVs are spec bumps
- Cars are spec bumps
- Houses [maybe if you count new constructions]

There is absolutely nothing on this planet [other than the creation of human life] that any real "wow" factor

At least with Apple, you're actually getting better products every year.

If your expecting some huge announcement where everyone goes hands in the air crazy, you'll be waiting a long time.

So Apple is like everybody else?
I suppose ‘think different’ should be replaced by think the same.

Thanks for agreeing with me.

Just because Cook is slightly better at one thing (which is privacy) does not mean that we have to be happy that he has dumbed down and handicapped Apple below our expectations.

Since you've been unhappy about Cook/Apple for many years, why not ditch Apple and purchase competitor tech products and *finally* find happiness. Easy.

Or perhaps your happiness is being perpetually in a state of unhappiness? Many people are like that because it's far easier to not do anything, rather than moving forward.

So what should Apple do? Perhaps you could list a dozen or so ideas. Should be easy.

The point I was making is that Apple is no different than other companies.
That all do small, incremental upgrades year to year.
Expecting revolutionary products like the M series every year is unrealistic.

OK, got it.

When you said up above:

"So Apple is like everybody else?

I got the feeling your expectations were higher, and could be easily achieved if Apple did something different.

I vote no event but they'll drop a highly polished pre-filmed video. It was a stretch with events for spec-bumps as it was. Apple Silicon doesn't need the same hype machine. A shrunken Mini is cool for sure (and welcome), but it's also not a mass seller like laptops either which is why I vote a video drop.

Your logic escapes me. I never said the others were better, in fact I went out of my way to state that Apple is still marginally better. And you never answered to the fact that while Apple may be marginally better that you can still not accept that Apple is not good enough under Cook.

I see no relation between my statements and your criticisms, other than you appear to have low standards. Which is fine, a lot of people don't do critical reasoning. Nothing ever gets better when people have low standards. So just say it, you don't want Apple to improve anything. Fine, I respect your opinion, but don't agree. There is so much that Apple needs to improve.

So wrong. On many fronts.

"And you never answered to the fact that while Apple may be marginally better that you can still not accept that Apple is not good enough under Cook."

Why in the world would I accept that Apple is not good enough under Cook, when I think Apple is doing an *outstanding* job under Cook? That makes little sense.

"I see no relation between my statements and your criticisms, other than you appear to have low standards. Which is fine, a lot of people don't do critical reasoning."

Ah... Resorting to personal insults when you don't have anything to substantiate your claims or add to the discussion. That's not unexpected.

"So just say it, you don't want Apple to improve anything."

Why would I say that when I'm totally pleased with Apple's improvements?

As an aside, Apple's 1 Billion active and repeat customers speaks volumes about how Apple and Cook are doing. I suspect you'd also be dismissive and insulting, claiming Apple's 1 Billion customers also having "low standards" and unable to do "critical reasoning."

Yep, and thanks for proving my point. BTW billions of people also eat bad highly processed foods, smoke, or consume other things that are terrible for them because of marketing and low standards. Apple users are no different. In fact, I think most Apple users are more interested in how using Apple products make them look with their peers than in the quality of the product. But that is just me.

How was your point (whatever that was - please specify) proven. Be specific.

As an aside... Everyone I know, including myself, view Apple products as tools. And certainly have no bearing on how they/I look. That's just silly.

I'd categorize your above assertion (about how Apple products make people look) as projection.

Apple has never introduced a new chip without an event, whether it is an A-series or M-series. If MacBook Pros and high end Mac mini are part of the new releases, we can guarantee there will be an event. Apple loves to chat about its new chip designs. If it’s just M4 alone, then no, there wouldn’t be an event, but with M4 Pro and M4 Max on the horizon, then yes, definitely.

By acknowledging the low standards that do NOT call for any improvements. You are happy, no improvement needed. You see no problems when every technical person that uses or developments for Apple products and is able to understand the reality sees the current train wreck of Apple software releases. Try reading some developer blogs.

Once more... I *never* said or acknowledged Apple's standards as being low. That's *YOUR* claim. Which I strongly disagree with.

You really seem to be into projection - that is, projecting your views onto other people, as some kind of universal truth. That's not healthy.
