Can't delete the update in /Library/Updates as it tells me

"The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items."
Did you disable CSrutil first? That’s an important step.

Apple have a fairly major issue here. Hopefully they will address it quickly as anyone with a T2 device will be unable to install. So far I have:

Tried disabling SIP and leaving disabled whilst tried to install.
Tried installing from terminal
Tried the full download and install
Tried installing from recovery with and without bootable USB

So unless there is some other work around?

Looks like a tweaked update is on the way.

Where have you seen that?

Have you tried to create a boot disk from the installer app then boot from the external disk and update from there?

Both iMac Pro and Mac Book Pro 2018 started the update, restarted and both are completely bricked. No power. SMC reset didn’t do anything. Not sure what to do at this point, but I don’t advise anyone updating.

How exactly did you get the update to start? On your MacBook Pro do you hear any sound when you plug the power cable in?
I managed to get a bootable usb drive with the beta 3 installer on it. It said it needed to update the installer and that the screen would go black for up to a minute but it never turned back on power button is not working anymore and no chime when I plug the power cable. I’m at the Genius Bar, they said the motherboard is dead :/
What the heck Apple!!!

Don’t try that... for some reason it killed my MacBook Pro 2018 and the Genius Bar said the logic board is dead :(

Install went fine for me. As I previously mentioned, I'm on a 2014 MacBook Pro (i5 processor) and this was my first foray into Catalina. If anyone who is stuck on beta 2 has any requests for me to check, I'll endeavour to answer.

Photos and Music (except for some song titles being missing) are fine for me.

What the hell is going on at Apple.

Again please don’t remind me it a beta and blah blah blah

But seriously .... did anyone actually test the install on a 2018 machine?

I work in IT Development - and I tell you If I released an update like this - I would be looking for a new job.

This is disgusting I am surprised the media aren’t having a field day on the very poor beta release of Catalina.

So far my confidence in Apple is diminished..

Better sort this out Apple!

I did, I tried later, it download another 400+ MB of stuff, then installed, have not tested much. I did check if I can unzip a copy of a parallels virtual machine I compressed in High Sierra...It says "Archive is empty," rather than unzipping it. I can unzip it with the Archive Utility from Mojave, that I copied over from a virtual machine....and yes, I did report it.

I will remind you, even though you asked not to, this is still an early beta.

I get what your saying - but as I said - If I released that sort of Beta or any release with a simple issue of not installing - I would be shot - quartered - and then shot again....

I don't care its a Beta or a GM - my confidence in Apple is low - to the point I have no confidence that the GM is going to work either.

It bricked two machines but it’s my fault for installing them on my machines not apples. They scream at you to only put them on sacrificial machines. So off to the Apple store they go.

I totally appreciate that - but my issue is that wouldn't you test it before releasing it on at the very least the most recently released machines?

Using Beta as an excuse - is waning a little thin.
