I wouldn't be surprised if it exists for the top of the line model. The connector used will be USB-C.Is thunderbolt stupid to hope for? Kind feels like a pipe dream. Is there any hard evidence for this?

Wow. Interesting to see what it’s set you back in total. Guess it’s cheaper than buying a new phone every year! It'll be 18 years with the iPhone 15 flagship.
Iirc, these had poorer batteries compared to their replacement model? The weakest years for resale were iPhone 11 & 12.
That makes sense. The biggest leap forward in an iPhone possibly ever. The best year for resale was the iPhone X
Yeah, this is why it still surprises me that people change them every year. I feel like the phones deserve to be used for more than 12 months…2 years, then the batteries start to fade, so I see 2-3 (even 4-5 for light users) years as an understandable term for today’s tech. The value of having AppleCare for resale has dropped quite a bit over the years as the phones became more reliable
You might be right [for the top of the line models]...
iPhone > iPhone 3G. The 3G had 3G networking capabilities vs. EDGE ("fast" internet), GPS, and according to MacTracker, "microphones" [typo though, since the 3GS doesn't have microphoneS?]. Clearly, a must upgrade.
iPhone 3G > iPhone 3GS. The 3GS has video recording, and a 3.0 Megapixel camera. Not really an upgrade from the 3G.
iPhone 3GS > iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 has a 0.3 megapixel front camera, a 5.0 megapixel back camera, two microphones a digital compass. Clearly an upgrade over the iPhone 3GS, and a massive upgrade over the 3GS.
iPhone 4 > iPhone 4s. The iPhone 4s has 0.9 megapixel font camera, a 8.0 megapixel back camera, and GLONASS. Not really an update over the iPhone 4.
iPhone 4s > iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 has Lightning connector, a 1.2 megapixel front camera, 3 microphones, 4" screen. I think it's a worthy update over the iPhone 4s.
iPhone 5 > iPhone 5s. The iPhone 5s has Touch ID. Yawn. But a big jump compared to the iPhone 4.
I think an every other year update results in a good bang for the buck.
Performance is a major component here. The 2G-> 3GS was a huge leap, same with the 3GS -> 4S and 4S -> 5s.
In the early years the YOY upgrade was pretty sweet, but the best value for money has always been a 2 year cadence at least.

Foldables still have a long way to go IMO. No dust protection. Crease is noticeable in dark mode. Limited choices in North America.I got to be real with ya, i want to be excited, but i feel way more bored based on what we are rumored to get. I'm honestly not trying to troll or cause drama, I am genuinly curious because i just got a iPhone 14 Pro Max 256 in January after using my iPhone 11 pro max since launch, and i get not every year can there be a drastic upgrade or redesign but based off the rumors, I'm very Meh so far.
Like an action button seems cool i guess...and of course better cameras, (will it be able to do the moon test though like the Samsung phones can apparently do) and USB C is LONG overdue....
But in all honestly i am bored to tears of the standard phone format. I love foldables but they are super expensive, dont have IOS on them, questionable durability...but i really wish apple would put one out!
The idea of a tablet and a phone in all one device sounds amazing!
Adding USB C and a button with a slightly better processor and camera....meh! Oh and a Titanium frame...big deal.
I have the apple watch ultra and love that, (and i am still somewhat confused as to why we are getting a 2nd gen one so soon) but idk...
What are your thoughts? I'm curious to see what they announce but im not yet sold on a day one purchase if at all yet! I hope they change my mind!
